4 weeks and counting!
That date works for us.
Setting the date is the hardest thing about these hangs. Now let's get to planning.
Count me and my son in.
Funny thing, right now our Scout troop has a campout tentatively scheduled for Oct. 10 & 11 at Wolfpen. I will be watching this thread and can change our troop plans...
Great report! Thanks for taking us along and reminding me why I don't hike much in the summer..... Those slithery things can put a nasty end to a nice walk in the woods.
My son and I had a great time and really enjoyed the company and the hiking. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend!
This is a decent map of the Sipsey: sipseyonepagea.pdf
Looks great! This is on my list of projects to attempt. Which directions did you find the easiest to follow?
Welcome to the forums neighbor! We have a few group hangs a year, usually Sipsey or Cheaha. They are a great way to meet folks and see different setups.
Isn't there medicine to keep your tarps from getting worms??
Thanks to everyone for the great stories, the laughs and all the great hiking/cooking/hammocking tips. It never fails that I learn something new at every group hang I attend. With that said, it is...
I really enjoyed meeting everyone and (even with the rainy night) it was a great outing. I hate that I missed the Riddle Creek hike. Got tied up saying goodbyes and we couldn't catch up with y'all....
Sitting by the campfire, enjoying the stories.
My son Payton will be there and he is 15.
I have a large tarp 10x20 (I think) that I will bring.
There is plenty of spots. I think we counted 18 hammocks at one of the hangs. My 15 year old will be glad to have some company that is closer to his age.
It is up to the group whether we do a...
 These are awesome!
I predict that this will become a VERY LONG thread!
This is one of the better maps of Sipsey Wilderness Trails that I have found: sipseyonepagea.pdf
 Got it on my calendar but I will won't know for sure until it gets closer to the date.
Fronkey is the only person that I know that was almost taken out by a tree.
I had a great time and enjoyed seeing everyone. Now we need to start planning the Cheaha fall hang!
I only took a few pictures and we didn't get any group shots :(
Eagle Creek Falls...
Yes it is.
Date set: Oct. 3-5
Planning thread below;
Count us in!! My son and I will be there.
Do we want to shoot for Oct. 3-5?
We could do that weekend also.
I mentioned my daughter's wedding which is on Oct. 25th. Well, I was just told that my son and I are being kicked out of the house the weekend before. Something about a big party and no one of the...
I received mine today and everything is perfect. All in working order and the correct quantity. Thanks Gunner!
I'm good for September or the first of October. My daughter is getting married the last weekend of October so I will be very busy around that time,.
Probably need to start a new post for this discussion.
I am open for any weekend in September.
Free Shipping :) Couldn't hurt to ask.
Welcome to the forums neighbor! There will be a hang at Cheaha or Sipsey this fall.
Thats a lot of biners. I don't mind paying in advance either.
Welcome to the forums neighbor! There are plenty of hangers in the state. Keep an eye out cause we should start planning for our fall group hang soon.
Welcome to the forum neighbor!
My son and I just returned from Scout camp, where I slept every night in my WBBB. I couldn't imagine sleeping any other way!
That is one way to get a diagonal lie.
Just updated the spreadsheet with my request for 40 which brings the total up to 675.
Great video ABoyd!
My son had a great time with Thomas and he is already looking forward to our fall hang.
Had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone.
No problem. There are plenty of good hanging spots around the falls.
Might need to hang out at the Cheaha Shelter tonight. This could be the icing on the cake!
Meteor Shower Friday Night
Then you will be in charge of getting firewood. :-)
Who is going to be at the falls Friday night? We should get there around 6pm.
I didn't see one.
Me and my son will be there.
In my experience, the younger scouts do better when they pair up in tents. They keep each other company and don't get spooked at the sounds you normally hear at night. Once they get a few camping...
Welcome to the forum neighbor! Plenty of hangers in these parts.
Low cost and easy.... Plant an acorn and wait a few years.
Personally I would consider setting a 4x6 for the second support.
