I bought these on a bit of an impulse and they're just not getting chosen when I'm packing for a trip, both are brand new and unused
Warbonnet Ridgerunner DL
That's a good point, I normally use whoopies but thought I'd try the webbing setup on my RR.
I'll just go with the ones I have I think, the RR will get used more on canoe trips probably anyway.
Do folk recommend using proper climbing rated carabiners on Brandons adjustable webbing setup? I have some climbing ones but they're big and clunky, something half the size would be more appealing.
I've ended up using my JRB Sierra Sniveller most of the year round, we didn't really get a winter last time round. When it's cold enough I have my HG 0* TQ & UQ standing by.
I've used a Speers Snugfit (should never have sold it :)) and more recently a 0* or 20* Incubator, not had a problem yet. I do sit quite far back though, my feet rarely touch the end of the footbox...
Welcome to HF Paul
I had snakeskins on my old HH Expedition many moons ago, I don't think I'll ever go back to them though, I didn't like the tight lump I ended up with. Now I use an oversize stuff sack for my tarp and...
A pan of hot water to hand can help, just pour a bit on your pegging point and then push the stakes in, you'll probably need another pan when it comes to getting them out again.
Mine's currently with those lovely people at UK customs, now I just wait for the letter asking for 20% tax and admin fees before I can have it.
Good luck in your new role gmcttr
I got my shipping email from Adam but now it's the tracking site that's torturing me :)
My new quilts have been sat in the USPS facility in Chicago for two days
I'll add my two penneth for what it's worth ..
Having offered my services for a brief stint as a Mod after the previous staff fall out, I've seen just how much work goes into that role on HF. It's...
I'd not considered that, pretty basic stuff really but I think you're spot on.
I suppose there's potential for the condensation to travel along the baffles and escape somewhere? I have the...
Has anyone tinkered with the idea of inflatable insulation? By that I mean something along the lines of a NeoAir mat, but quilt shaped and suspended underneath the hammy.
With the technologies...
It'll be a first if they don't :)
I'm looking forward to seeing the Burrow, I've got a 20* Incubator already and I've been really impressed by the performance.
I just use the cotton sheets to make up barrel shaped bags with a drawstring top, I cut a round 14" base and then sew on the main piece, some are bigger than others depending on the season of quilt...
I got that sweet email from HG yesterday saying my quilts had been shipped, I went for a Burrow and Incubator both 0* in black Argon and 1oz overfill each.
UK temps are currently very mild,...
I'm a hanker ...
Pointing up for me, like a lucky horseshoe, I don't want all that good fortune draining out
Something like this? ...
Lol, thanks bootstick
the quilt sold yesterday though I'm afraid.
Now sold thanks
Mods please close/move
I'm with hikingdad, there's no need for the fabric to go so far, all you're trying to do is prevent air flow from robbing the UQ or hammock fabric.
Some pics of the quilt packed ..
This is the quilt packed in the stuff sack provided by Mat, it's oversized but I prefer to pack my quilts like that, this and the matching UQ would be the first...
It'll fit a 6' bloke no problem, I'm 5' 10" and there's plenty of room and length left in it.
Not sure about loft but it contains 600g of 850 fill down (or 900 US fill), I'd say it has around 5-6"...
I stuff mine usually, sounds like I need to do some more reading :)
It's Mat's standard size which is 1.9m long x 1.25m wide
I'd describe it as a straight taper I think, it's a consistent angle from top to bottom.
Snap closure around the neck was an...
No I'm asking £155 sent as Paypal, I'll cover the Paypal fees and the shipping to the US
I'm not sure how your duty works over there sorry
Okay I've just used the online option to get a quote, it's coming back around £20 to the US
I'll take £155 all in and swallow the extra shipping if anyone in the US wants it.
Hi Eddie - welcome to the forum
I can get a price for you if you like? I need to pack it up and take it into the Post Office, at a guess I'd say around £15 with tracking and insurance.
I've just uploaded some, I'll add...
Any interest at £140?
That's a neat idea, I'll try that one day, probably when I'm not in a plantation with sap and the trees are skinny enough
I usually just leave mine on the floor under the tarp, if it's rainy and windy I'll put the rain cover on and put it right under the hammock.
If it's dry I'll tie a piece of cord round a tree with...
I sold my UQ this morning but this one has to go too :)
Having another clearout ...
UKHammocks Winter top quilt
600g of lovely fluffy 900 fillpower Polish pure down
A seriously warm top quilt
We need Arson on the case, he must have a few :)
You sure do
I revisited there last week and there's an 80ft widow maker caught up, it'll come down pretty soon hopefully but it's put half the island out of bounds right now.
Beautiful pics Bill, I wish I was there right now
Love mine, although I tend to use it 3 season and keep my Superfly for winter ..
Yeah but it's worth it :)
Thank you, if you ever make it over I'll be more than happy to show you round :)
Great job on the hot tent, I've had the same interest for the last couple of winters.
Gotta love the Packer stove
Thanks for the kind comments folks, glad you enjoyed the pics
I'd be out there every weekend if it wasn't a six hour drive each way.
Myself and Turnerminator managed to get up to the Cairngorms last week for a few days, we try and time it after a decent snow fall but there's been very little this winter so far. After monitoring...
Hi Law - welcome to the forum
Some nice pics there Russ
I think that music is a royalty free download, possibly by Kevin Macleod. I've heard it on all sorts of vids and audio, I have some backpacking podcasts from 2006 with it...
I'd add a small inflatable mat such as the Neoair short, it takes up no room in the pack.
Even a folded piece of foam used in the back of the pack would make a night bearable
