I took a 20 degree down sleeping bag and cut the hood and the bottom off and made an underguilt for my hammock. I can cinch the bottom and still use it as a quilt on the ground too. I have another...
I tried on the 4th or 5th and that price was still listed but it would not accept my order and I tryed calling and no one answered. guess I'm sol. Don't need it just nice to have.
agree, humid too
Litetrek, I hate to be adding to the many answers but, I think at 18' you may have to stand on something to get your straps a little higher. I have a DIY dbl layer gathered end hammock. It started at...
I hope you're better soon.
That may be what I had. I was sick with cough, broncitis, and very weak for about a month. I am finally getting my strength back.
Nice looking quilt.
Welcome to the forum from Pa.
A small rip can be repaired with a needle and thread. Most machines come with a book that shows a bit about how to sew. There are also good videos here on hammock forums. Read the book and watch some...
They run the street sweeper in the parking lot at night. It is also noisey so have earplugs.
Welcome to the insanity.
I was in snow last week and I don't think I can handle the 88 temps they're calling for this weekend. I'd like to do this to meet more hangers but I can't handle those temps. Havefun.
Thank you. I thought this was the next weekend but I still would like to make it there. It sounds like lots of fun and good food. I will not even get to Florida until the evening of the 18th.
Is there water and outhouse there? Is it at the campsite on the lake?
I will try to make this. I should be a bit southwest of Orlando then visiting. I am 65 with bad knees but should be able to make a cpl miles. This sounds like a fun weekend. I'm not sure what I'll be...
Beautiful but wheres the cookie recipe.
Does this affect your lay in the hammock. It seems like it would constrict the hammock so you would get little diagnal lie.
I use earplugs when testing in the yard, lots of noises. I have a pair in the van, on the headboard, and in each hammock. I snore. My wife snores. PPl can't do anything about their snoring but...
I did not pick anything in your poll either. I have several DIY hammocks.I think I can sleep on my side in all of them. I'm not real sure about the first one I made cause I seldom use it anymore. 1st...
I don't know what a db pad is but it may not be wide enough at the shoulders. Your shoulders could be touching the side of the hammock causing them to be cold.
Anyone make a 90 x 132? What's it like? Too wide?
Thank you.
How strong is this tablecloth? Will it hold 300#?
That is very nice of you. Add me to the list.
DN have you done anything yet? I am also cosidering this.
Welcome. I'm about 45 miles north of you.
Welcome from Pa.
I have a 2 layer IXTQ and 2 layer IXUQ that I use to about 46*F. They both have light nylon coverings. I also have a second IXUQ that when added to the others will get me down to about 34. That's...
I survived my backpack trip. It was five miles in, spend the night and 5 mi. back out. It starts out like a Pa. rolling hills dirt road. It starts by the bridge in Kenerdell and follows the Allegheny...
Welcome to the madness. Trike pics, too.
Welcome from the other side of the state.
Is the summer (june, july, august) hot and humid up there or is it high enough to be ok? Are the skeeters real bad?
rockclimbing.
Hope yinz all kept warm and slept well.
Great start. The tight center line can be worked around. I find I have it sometimes and sometimes I don't. When I have it, I try and have my butt slightly to the side of center on the side my head...
Howdy, I'm from Pa. but in Chapel hill for awhile.
I did not go out to the hammock til 6 when it was 29. I fumbled around a bit getting comfortable but then slept till 9:30. Nice and warm. I am not sure I would have been this warm without the sock. ...
I am at my brothers in Carrboro, N.C. and just set up my hammock before dark. Just doing some testing tonight to see how warm I stay when it gets down to the forcast 26 F. I am trying insultex and...
Hope you're having fun. Wish I was there.
Jeff, Where is your zipper? I now think I'll make it like pappa smurf's or with a zipper to get in and out and for ventilation.
Welcome to the forums.
I'm in. Yinz are great.
I'm in, thank you.
I am thinking about making a hammock sock from ripstop nylon from walmart. The material I have is 8.33 linear yards x 62 inches and weighs between 3/4 and 1 lb. so I guess it's 1.3 oz or close. I am...
Nice video.
You do not need an spe if you are not using a pad that needs extended or if you have an adaquate under quilt.
Same here. Thanks or TFPT.
I'm in. Thanks
I am 5'7" almost and my diy started with 11' of material. That would be close to your 6'4" starting with 12'. I like mine better than my shorter one.
Last year I bought 2 of what they called a packable down quilt. I made an under quilt and a top quilt. I think I was chilled about 40, maybe high 30's. The quilts I see this year are heavier than...
I have done it also. I have done it top and bottom. You have to be careful with condensation. The IX should be closest to the body.
