Is there a post that lists all the cottage vendors with ties to Hammock Forums? Because that would be cool.
@ Odds - Thank you much. Right now it is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Day to day stress. Living for May!
@Shug - thanks for the link. Since I am prone to hero-worship, i have to tell...
A question for the masters and aspiring...
My wonderful mother-in-law wants to buy me something for my graduation from nursing school. She is wonderful. And also an excellent seamstress. I want...
I use a 12 inch x 12 inch piece of walmart blue pad. works for stepping on, doubles as insulation for my feet.
My nurse sense started tingling. You might think about getting a sleep test done. Seems like quite few of the "elders" are getting diagnosed with sleep apnea and such. Or it could just be the cold.
Moving to Grand Junction in June. I will miss this one but will be ready for the next one!!
I practiced by making a few snake skins for my hammock, then jumped into the tarp. It helps to practice a little, but it really is not super hard. Plus, nobody is judging if your line are not...
If I can't see you, you can't see me!!
My coldest experience is somewhat different in that it was mostly on purpose. I was involved in a survival course, and the "final exam" was a 72 hour solo with a just a knife and a metalmatch. ...
John I can identify. I had made whoopie slings, tree straps, snake skins, a 10x11 winter tarp (that was a beast), a new ridge-line, ordered a UQ from arrowhead equipment, even drilled hooks into my...
Got a shipping notice! Just in case anybody wanted to know. hehe
Maybe just buy a set from AHE and copy it?
How bout this from REI?
REI Trail Stool
I've got one. Super comfortable. Only 18 oz. "Folds" easily enough to tie on the outside of a pack. And probably fairly easy to DIY.
I made whoopies out of 550 cord. They are braided but have the 7 strands of cord inside. Beast of a time getting them pushed through, but doable..
Missed it. Blast.
Shoot! I've been wanting to get down there! But alas, fall will probably be a little to late for me. It would have been great to get together with some other hammockers to check out their apparatus....
Thank you sir. The squirrels and rabbits of the Nebraska plain will know of your awesomeness. And any person I meet of course.
Alan, dude, that was funny. But of course I will be perfectly...
Thanks bigbama. This summer may find me in Phoenix, Charleston, or Grand Junction! I'm going a little nuts over finding a job/moving... hammocking is my escape.
No foul mr. medic jim. I have made many a corn stalk joke myself. Course I usually start crying afterwards. "Locational Depression" is the term for my affliction, i believe.
Part of what made this purchase such a weighed decision is my lack of cash (nursing school see). Paul's price is ultra competitive, and the more I read, the more I realized his workmanship is...
Thanks Gargoyle, I was looking for input on that particular. Now if I could just get some help with my slice.
I got black on black, my wife said the pink on black wouldn't be good. Whatev's;) Also he's out of the 4 season upgrade, and i decided the 3 season would probably suit me better for versatility. ...
Just ordered a New River from AHE, plus some stickers! Pretty excited about combating the NE winter weather. and WINNING.
Prussics generally have 3 loops, but it depends on the lines you are working with. I have ascended a climbing rope about 40 feet straight up with a couple three loop prussics. They hold pretty strong...
I like that you bought a stand before the hammock.
I did make a DIY tarp as my first big DIY project (straps, whoopie slings preempted it).
Thanks to Shug for ideas. Whether he knew it or not. ;)

ouch... Huskers unite against you. :scared: hehe NOT! I don't claim NE, nor do I plan on living here for more than a few nights after graduation weekend!! I have enjoyed Lincoln, just not the...
Which would be me of course.
I'm a nursing student (about to trim that title to just "nurse" yeehaw) and got a hammock for Christmas, somehow stumbled across this forum, then Shug's videos, then a...
Ditto on the REI pole repair sleeve. These seem like they are made for hammocking. They've worked great for me. And so light.
I must now thank my coffee maker and my nursing textbooks. Daily...
I know it's from a movie, but at the beginning of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World with Russell Crow, all the sailors are sleeping in hammocks. A little crowded. Lots of "guys" hehe....
That made me want to watch the video..
Hey Opie,
I decided 200' was a little much for me at this point, so i changed it to 100'. i updated the spreadsheet already, just wanted to let you know. If there is a problem i probably can...
My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to print a receipt for my donation.
I'm in for 100', 7/64 blue.
-------------------
I changed mine from 200 to 100. I hope doesnt mess anything up.
I didn't notice that!! Hey I'm seriously considering moving out that way (NC) if I'm lucky enough to graduate in May (which is the plan) and find employment of course.
Thanks for the advice. I...
Hey Tina,
I've decided on getting a Clark, mainly because of the weathershield, and I am deciding between the tropical and the standard NA.
How come you went with the Tropical +...
The Eagles were hangers! Sounds like the perfect hammock song.
