Have you not read the Ring Buckle Thread yet????:scared:;)
I had to run a cross beam (I think that's the right terminology) from 4x4 to 4x4 to keep them from warping.I used a 1x1. I did that for ease of mowing the lawn so I wouldn't have to fight with...
Hehe...y'all have fun with that one!:scared:
Congrats to the both of ya!!:thumbup::thumbup:
...and DON'T throw anything back. That just makes it worse when you get home :eek::D
Right now the plan is to stay at Low Gap on the 2nd and then hit every shelter on the way to ****'s Creek....
In case anyone might be interested...I'm doing a four day hike from Hogpen Gap to ****'s Creek Gap starting June 2nd through the 6th. I'll have two newbees hikers so we are moving REALLY slow. If...
Definitely would like to do a hike/hang sometime in June!:thumbup::thumbup:
Welcome to the Forums!:thumbup:
Same prob with the bugs and humidity here. I have a BlackBird by Warbonet Guy and have been real happy with it. Good luck on which ever you choose!
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
I don't know why I found that so funny.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Yup, did the hatchet thing once too. Yup, same prob...too much weight :D. There's no weight penalty for the rocks already in camp :thumbup:
IMO and my .02 worth...I think it depends on the season. How's that for a vague answer???:rolleyes:
I have both. I have a Cat Cut that I use the majority of the time. It's 12' in ridgeline length...
Just thought I'd bump this thread to see if there was any interest still out there.
That's ok, the bear will get you first:lol::lol::lol:
Its halfway from AFSP to Springer at Nimblewill Gap on a FS road. What I remember, there is only a marker on the side of the road.
THE REALLY COOL aircraft site (if one could call it that without...
Do we have any definite day/weekend that is in mind? It's a 5.5 hour drive for me (which I don't mind doing), so it would have to be two nights to justify it, plus it would depend on the weekend....
Raven Falls, etc is great.:thumbup:
Timing might be an issue for me. I'm doing a week on the AT over Spring Break, the first full week of April, somewhere in N GA/ NC. With a new baby any day, my...
We are trying to put together a GA hang, you may want to jump on that. It will help you sort out your gear and give you an idea of "backwoods" camping.
We could stay at Deep Gap just south of dicks creek gap on hwy 76. lots of trees there. Some time in April maybe?
Oh, Peanuts...you can bring the dog (there should be a smilie here, but my phone...
The Morven police wanted to discuss my speed one day...:eek:. It was a one way conversation.:(
BTW...glad to have you on the forum! :thumbup::thumbup:
No offense...I was kidnapped by my wife and brought here...of course I didn't kick and scream too much.:D
Not the 80's, however "back in the 90's" when I went to VSU (One year after they...
Now lets not get all snippy here...Some of us do live in the "other" state of GA :scared: (:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:)
I think a GA hang would be great...and I nominate Peanuts to put it together!:D
Excellent tarp!:thumbup::thumbup: I'm really liking the two-tone color scheme!:cool:
Don't think so, I've been a donating member here for two years and never had it show up over on WB. I'm would think that's prob just the main email that everything's set up to go through. Dunno...
I have made a 12x10 tarp. it was pretty easy...just take your time and reinforce your tieouts...oh, and be sure to seal up the ridgeline :thumbs:
Sorry to hear that! Maybe we can get a Georgia Hang put together sometime (got to be after Feb...new family addition I don't (can't) miss)
...Waiting for my camera to thaw. You'd think going...
:(:(I'm sorry, next time I'll get the towing package added to my Dodge Caliber:o (:lol::lol::lol:). I'm just glad we got you out...
...Mustardman, the hang was great!:thumbup: REALLY cold! I had 7...
Sickness, what are you talking about?:confused: This isn't normal???:drool::p
Glad you made it to the site...lots of good info and very helpful people. Also, there is a New Years Eve hang on...
I'd agree with Dutch. DIY probably won't save money (or sanity), but is worth the effort IMO. I'm slowly making a topquilt with some of the down from Dutch's salvaged sleeping bag feathers(thank's...
Always...well, almost always. Unless I'm on the side of a hill where using the tie-outs is too much trouble or is at an odd angle to the hammock body, then I use them all the time.
Got a snowpeak titanium cup and a Solio iPod charger. I also got a couple of prAna shirts.
Most everything got spent on the kids presents and the Wii:thumbup: (not sure how I'm going to pack that...
Sadly south Georgia will only get rain and wind...and be in the 60's:( Enjoy and know I'm jealous!
Merry Christmas to all and have a safe and happy New Years!!!:D
Most stuff is in the hammock, but the pack is attached to the supports at the footend of the hammock.
Can you imagine if we could bottle this stuff in an aerosol form? Hammockers might take over the world:cool:
In all seriousness, a great big thanks to the mods for their hard...
:lol::lol::lol::lol:
(actually it was really good food)
I beat you KK...I was in bed by 8:30 praying (begging?) for daylight and the sun's gentle and loving warmth. That was the toughest night...
Rockdawg is right: not many options here unless you know someone that owns the land. Cumberland is a great option, you just have to tie into branches of the Live Oaks, and not the trunk (you may have...
YEAH!!! Now if I have a South GA hang someone else will show up!!:thumbup:
Seriously...welcome to the forums and a new life on camping.
The website looks great and congrats on your new adventure!!!:thumbup:
Definitely the WBBB first, then my DIY UQ, and finally my DIY maccat.
I cut my DIY teeth on that one. Still have (and use) it. Good luck! Just be forwarned... once you start this horrid addiction called DIY, the support group bills will quickly pill up. :D
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Thank you Hooch, I needed that this morning
...and I thought "Tent Talk" was a sick April Fool's joke thought up by a mod.
btw, jscalia, you might need to watch out...I hear that there are some crazy hammock folk around here...;)
Just Jeff has a page about gear hammocks:
http://www.tothewoods.net/HomemadeGearKidsHammock.html
Also, I hook my pack to the suspension strap. Works great for me. Oh, I also have a BB and it...
I tend to have the same problem on the first night, so don't worry your not alone.
I usually wake up to answer the, um, call of nature and end up staggering like I packed in too much Jack and...
I've taken the slow ride down the strap/ring-buckle elevator (more than once too, you'd think I'd remember to tie the half-hitch) and once landed in the bugnet of my Byer Mosquito (don't know if that...
The Holiday Inn;) :lol::lol::lol:
Seriously, grab some bags of Speer's down while its on sale (group buy thread) and then hit up Wally World for some 1 per yard fabric. Then sew (or find someone...
I would definitely but something under the hammock if you have to go to ground. I had to bail into a shelter the other night (lightening at 5000+ feet... not much fun:scared:) and put the tarp down...
I have a 3/4 uq based on Coffee's Red River Gorge directions. I've taken it (with 9oz of down, 900 fill power) down to single digits. I also had a 20* bag that I was inside of and two layers (one of...
If your set on the pad idea, got to Ed Speers site and get a SPE (Segmented Pad Extender). Basically it gives your pad wings and extends it around the shoulders. Your best bet is to get an UQ...
Can we suggest a trail name...Steamy Pants? :laugh: ;)
That's mean Cannibal! :(:D
It's been a nice 90+ degrees outside. There is a severe cold front that is supposed to move through next...
They offer that?:scared: I was using hammocks to keep me from obsessing over other things.
Oh yeah... It will really go down hill for you when you learn to use a sewing machine. :cool:
I wanna go! :eek:
I didn't pick a weekend, I'm flexible during that time of the year (as long as the third bundle of joy doesn't show up too early). I don't have much to add to the conversation...
