Sorry it sold on BPL.
SOLD
I have for sale an Enlightened Equipment "Revelation" quilt that was originally purchased in June 2013. This is the original Karo-step design version. This is primarily designed as a top...
I've made 2 of the diygearsupply tarps and a rectangle tarp. There is really no difference in the construction. The cutting is a bit different but thats pretty easy if you make a cardboard template...
For the ridge line tie outs I'm pretty sure that they just double over a piece of webbing / grosgrain and sew it right into the seam. Then when the seam is felled (rolled) and sewn it gets...
Yes, Warbonnet tarp ridge lines do standup vertically.
Warbonnet tarps are made like the attached diagram. I believe they aren't as susceptible to leaks because the grosgrain takes the stress not the silnylon.

I don't think it makes much difference. If you pull each of the seams they both have 2 points where the needle holes will elongate and allow water through. They both have to be sealed so I usually go...
Looks nice!! You'll enjoy it.
I wouldn't consider the DIYGS tarp only a winter tarp. It is essentially the same size as the Warbonnet Superfly. The DIYGS tarp will be heavier due to the construction techniques. If you want it to...

Its actually has 11' ridge and is approx 10' wide but it should be easily scaled to 8.5' wide
I would assume that 2 top threads is no stronger that one. Strengthwise you're still limited to the single bobbin thread.
Now if its just for decoration then show off your purty stitchin!!!
One other option might be to investigate a heat transfer type logo. Not sure what the boundaries are on heating silnylon or how the transfer might handle the stuffing / unstuffing of the tarp.
Silkscreening the nylon first and then coating would probably work. I assume this is how the camo silnylon is created. I've read the posts here on creating silnylon but I wouldn't trust myself to do...
I would think you would have a hard time silkscreening a non-absorbent material like silnylon.
I've thought about this a bit and decided the best way would be to construct a logo panel / flag and...
I haven't tried this but I would recommend this tarp. I have made a couple of these for boys in my scout troop
I would estimate 52-60 depending on the fabric choices -- including shipping
If were buying one of the rei-outlet pads I would get the Oak Street insulated pad. It is significantly lighter that the Sand Mountain. IMHO you don't need an insulated pad unless you're outside and...
I tend not to roll mine up - I usually just stuff it in the bottom of my pack. It feels like it take less room that way. In all I'm pretty happy with it. It was easy to make and pretty inexpensive...
Mine is the same size as listed on the DIYGear website and weighs 15oz including shock cords and small s-biners. It has no cover (raw insultex) on the side closest to the hammock and a 1.1 nylon...
Looking at the picture of the horsethief or zirkel bags this looks like a super easy conversion. I would just cutoff the sleeve and leaving about an 1.5 inch where its connected to the bag. Roll hem...
Those are pretty interesting. I'm assuming all the measurements on the template are in mm?
good article on vapor barriers by someone with lots of experience
I just bought the kit yesterday and am awaiting delivery. I've made several hammocks and tarps but its my first pack.
take a look at the Ultimate DIY Project List
look at this thread. Its the same concept.
For TX summer i usually use a insultex uq if the temps < 70 and a simple fleece blanket as a tq. This will easily get me in the low 60s. For nighttime temps > 70 I leave the uq at home. You could...
you could cut it into 20 ish "north pole" rated uq shells!!
I think the biggest reason to have an adjustable SRL is for those that like to tinker with the length of the ridge line. I would guess that once its set to a comfortable position its hardly ever...
The spreadsheet is great. Ive been planning out my quilt but ran into a question. In the same way that 2x the loft was added to the width shouldn't you also add 2x the loft to the length? it seem...
I would add twice the loft of the apex to the width of the outer layer. I think you'll have to dart the head / foot end of the outer layer to make up for the difference in width.
As gmcttr pointed out -- most machines are easily removed from the cabinet. In fact I've paid less for a CL machine because I told the owner I wasn't interested in the desk -- just the machine. Then...
It would probably be easier to use a soldering iron with a large tip. I would think that if you added enough holes to dismiss the vapor barrier effect then you would start to lose the insulation...
Looks great. I want to do one of these. I've ordered the materials but I'm having trouble picking a plan. What plans did you use?
IIRC there are 2 WBBB clones in the Ultimate project list sticky...
I do the rolled side on top / outside as well. I also seam seal the outside.
I ran into the same issue. I used a small split ring on the ones I had already made. For the new ones I used a craft store bead.
It realize this won't help you make your own but I though I would pass along how I get my tree straps. I buy one of these simple slings from strapworks.com in the length and color that I like. When...
Check out the links on the About Me tab on RamblinRev's profile page
nice -- I'll have to start saving my Tyvek envelopes!
If your SRL is 108" then you have 12" of coverage on either end. I made a Blackcat with a 11' ridge line and it covers my WBBB with ease. The WBBB only has a 101" SRL though. Having a longer side...
Sailrite is starting a "How to Sew" series on their blog today. Its specific to their machines but might be interesting to new DIYers.
http://sailrite.wordpress.com
I usually just lash a 18-24" stick to one of the trees and slip each shoulder strap over each end of the stick. That way I don't have to bend down to ground level to look through my pack. I use a...
Well the stuff sack for my MLD Trailstar is pretty simple. Its an envelope style bag with just a double roll seam on the long edge then a double roll seam along the bottom edge. The top has a typical...
hmm I might have an MLD stuff sack. If I can find it -- the seam ripper and I might have to do a little investigation....
Its on the MLD website and refers to the main (corner) seams on a pyramid tarp.
http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=47&products_id=130
Main seams are triple rolled and stitched (MLD Exclusive) and flat felled.
I have seen this description on a vendor site describing a seam as "triple rolled". I understand rolled hems but rolled...
The REI store in Plano has it. You'll have to ask someone as all of the spools are in the bicycle repair area.
I believe the 4th from the left is a button foot.
Its down filled 800 or 850 fill ... I don't remember. It also has draft collars on both ends.
I have one of the older 3 season deluxe Yeti's that I will sell. Its the one with the snap in liner. $155 including paypal fees and shipping
