Now this is a fun idea!
Hey everyone, I’ve had indoor setups for a little while and I’d love sleeping in it to be a more regular thing. When I move however, the noise of the fabric is loud enough to disturb the sleep of my...
My wife and I hung under a Kelty Noah 12 on our honeymoon successfully, but dutchware has a two person tarp.
That trail haunts my dreams, and I long to thru-hike it. Would love to know when you and maple king are going through it again. I’d love to make you two some trail coffee.
My partner and I hiked to Virginia Hawkins falls from the laurel valley access years ago as our introduction to the trail. It was beautiful and I hope to thru hike the trail someday. My friend just...
Man that looks awesome! I was just about to post asking if anyone has made some like like this but for four hammocks.
We’re gearing up for a major landscaping project and that’s an idea I had....
Amazing thing you're doing here Dutch! Love what you're offering. Never made a hammock before but it's been in the books so here goes!
The plan is for 3 (yep, three) PolyD 1.4 hammocks, one for my...
I use the indoor hanging kit from ENO. It's cheap and works. You can also use the hammock hang calculator from ultimate hang. Just get a stud finder. Happy hanging!
Count me in! Thanks for such an awesome opportunity
Looks good Pinball! My wife and I have set up under the Kelty 12 for our honeymoon, did a kind of offset bunk kinda thing. First time we did it and it wasn't terrible. Thanks for sharing
I understand this is a show-n-tell topic, but I don't have a thread injector as of yet. Wife and I are discussing it. Anybody have any recommendations?
I just read the Backcountry rules and regulations and saw this:
"8. Hammocks may only be used within designated backcountry campsites. They may not be used inside shelters and may not be attached...
This is fun! Count me in
Great mileage for sure and again, really enjoyed the video. Once you're done making your new pack for your bear canister I'll gladly help you offload your current one if need be :)
How did you...
Good to see more folks from the Shire
Ha! I used to work at Clarkes Trading Post for the summers!
That all sounds like good advice, I wish I could impart more into it but I will certainly be taking away from it. Chop, where in the whites do you live? I grew up about 10 minutes from Mt Lafayette.
Olddog has a good and simple method for an adjustable. Another thing you could do if you didn't want to construct a whoopie sling or UCR is take a carabiner and make a few wraps around part of it to...
Has anyone ever done this? I've got a small 5x6 tarp for the dog and was curious to see if it would work for her on trips. She's a big wuss so didn't use it when it got windy and a bit shaky...
Was...
Thanks for the response, and thanks for sharing such an awesome find.
Has anyone been able to get out and tie some knots with this stuff yet? Curious to see how well it holds
I just started using the method that 12trysomething posted, doing it that way will keep your tarp from flying away when the shock cord breaks...
And if you'd ever like to offload about 2 feet of it just let me know :)
Her idea too. It was on our way home from a cabin we rented in pigeon forge. Stopped off in the Smokeys for a night. My wife is pretty awesome
Yeah. My wife and I used our Noah 12 for our honeymoon. We did the bunk bed style and slept head and feet alternating. Little tight quarters but not bad for the first hang together :)
A lot of it depends on the diameter rope you may be using for your suspension. CF toggles with Dynaglide don't work. I use my toggles on a closed loop with UCRs. I basically larks head the toggle in...
Regardless of what you use you run a risk of damaging the tree no matter what length of time the hammock is loaded. Multiple wraps of a thinner rope will accomplish the same thing as webbing would....
I have heard a lot of people bringing smaller gear hammocks for use as a hammock chair as well, for that much utility I might also be inclined to carry one too. But simple works best for me :)
HYOH...
FWIW I hang indoors, granted with an ENO SN, but still a gathered end. Due to limitations in where I can place the anchors I have a boatload of sag. So much in fact if I were to keep the ridgeline in...
Great idea! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to have to check into these.
AsronAlso, check out this forum for sub 3mm line with reflective hits. Heard nothing but great things about the...
Not spreading hate or discontent, but wouldn't a gram weenie forgo a "poop hammock" and just pop a squat as nature intended?
Happy anniversary! Thanks for the opportunity for such an awesome kit.
Count me in, if I'm chosen I'd like the bud light alky stove please
Thanks again
Congratulations to HomeMadeHiket and dieselfuelonly! Thanks doogie for the opportunity!
Count me in! Thanks!
Yeah, I added my guylines today and thought the tieouts were heavier duty than they actually are.
Been a while for that tarp :)
Thanks for humoring me
We'll I guess I see where that stands. Thanks for your input everyone
But for the sake of the intent of my post, I don't suppose someone could humor me and divulge the information I'm seeking as...
Hey everybody, Hoping to get some experienced DIYers input here...
I'm getting ready to put my tarp on a diet. My wife and I hang under a Kelty Noah 12 and, well, it's hefty... My plan is to cut...
Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. I'll report back on it afterwards. I'm sure it'll work fine for the pups tarp shelter though
Well I just scored 30' of 3/32" shock cord, so I'm going to be making some tensioners for my tarp and my dogs tarp as well. :)
I'm thinking of putting my tarp on a diet as well, my wife and I use...
That looks great, very nice setup!
Thanks for sharing
What size shock cord do you use typically?
That's good to know, thanks Mad.
I had considered fixed loops at the ends, I'll give the Marlin spike a go and see how I like it from there. The Lash it is 1.75mm so it IS a bit bigger, hence...
I finally got around to making my new guy lines for the tarp my wife and I use. I decided to try and make 8 separate 6' lines out of 1.25mm Z-Line Spectra cord and I'm attaching it to the tarp via...
Great video FIMB, looking forward to a performance review!
Can't wait to see that, I just made new UCRS for the year, testing a Marlin Spike Hitch with dynaglide found me on the living room floor (gently at least) and melted some fibers from the friction....
You might be right about the length. The way Te-wa attaches the suspension to the UQ it works as a fixed position where on the HG stuff (it seems) the quilts can actually slide along the suspension....
That's exactly it, never thought of using an s biner to do it though.
Great setup! My wife and I will have to try this one. It looks like using the other tie outs really opened it up for some extra room.
I've got a te-wa breeze. It's a 3/4 length UQ so it has shock cord to get it to the ends of the hammock. The suspension is similar to the HG Phoenix. I'll upload some pictures later
The actual suspension for the UQ. The shock cord makes a loop at each end of the UQ with a mitten hook on it to clip to the hammock end
