We have used it a bit on our Tensa stand and it has worked fine.
Thanks for the kind words Gargoyle.
Paul - we are based in Tasmania and do have some materials listed on our clearance page. Mostly we list end of roll fabrics or fabrics that we are no longer...
That is a very interesting find with the Tasmanian stand. I hadn't heard of them before.
Is there evidence that 800FP is more susceptible to the effects of compression than lower fill powers? I am unsure why that would be the case.
I know there is some evidence that goose down has...
The effects of long term compression of down bags/quilts is often overstated. Whilst I would not recommend storing it compressed for the long term, if it is stored dry there is unlikely to be any...
AyeJay - you are unlikely to get a better hammock fabric than Hexon 1.6 for both comfort and durability, in my opinion.
G'day AyeJay,
Welcome from Tassie. Don't go short and narrow if you want to be comfortable, unless weight is your main priority.
There is a few of us Aussie's on here.
As Hutzelbein mentioned Amann threads are worth looking for, they are a premium thread. For a Mara equivalent you could look for SabaC which would be a good all-rounder. I am pretty sure there is an...
That gave me a good laugh Cabbo. Haven't heard that one for yonks.
I am in Australia too, and there is snow on the mountains - still perfect hammock weather :). A little different from QLD weather down here in Tassie.
Welcome mate there are plenty of hangers out...
Hey mate - It works with Dutch's hardware that is designed for 1.75 Dyneema, and worms etc.
Yep tie outs will work to pull it out or I just placed a few items next to my pad which created more internal space.

I used to make these Fronkey style nets with adjustable ridgelines, and probably should start again. It worked ok on the ground in testing with the net simply being tucked in under your pad. Being...
Add the hem allowance.
You're welcome. Just another option for people to test out.
Hopefully it helps.
I posted up some instructions on how we do our tarp ridgelines on our Facebook page, I will put them on our website as well soon. This method has the stitching passing through at least 6 layers of...
If I get time this weekend I will do a how to.
Yes I did and there is some elongation when pulled very hard but minimal compared to other seams, though your lapped seam should be relatively good. The key is to get the needle going through at...
What type of seam are you sewing and where are you sewing it?
I use a modified flat felled seam, that I made up myself, on our tarps that is less prone to stitch elongation than the traditional...
Hey Harry,
We don't usually do repairs as we are pretty flat out but since you are in Tassie we are happy to have a look at it. Brandon makes a very good product so it's hard to say why that has...
It seems to highlight the relative weakness in that particular fabric whatever it is. Some of the poly fabrics can have a very low tear resistance especially the lighter weight fabrics without a...
Just be aware the titanium split rings may need to be doubled up as well. I was considering using them but had one fail on my tarp on its first test. Mind you the wind was fairly decent.
Welcome mate.
You can get it from me in Australia - http://www.tiergear.com.au/11/online-shop/duck-down-insulation-425g-15oz.
Hey all,
Just a quick one to show the baffle system we use on our -1c(30F) and below Quenda top quilts. It is a horizontal trapezoidal baffle design, which from the attached photo you can see that...
Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, I appreciate it.
Thanks mate. My initial testing over the last couple of weeks indicates that there are no issues with the bottom door seam or the zipper. There is more testing to do and features to add but I really...
Hey all,
I am working on a new hammock with a removable top cover. The main difference from our Goshawk hammock is the arch shaped zipper entry which matches with the top cover entry. It is a...
Actually the Xenon (SilPoly) 1.1 that Dutch uses in his tarps has reasonable tear resistance from my unscientific tests.
Personally i dont think there is too much difference in sewing Argon 90 or a generic 1.1. Just practice laying down some solid stitches beforehand with whatever you get.
Sent from my SM-G930F...
It is a bit of a fallacy among DIYers with regards to avoiding any thread with cotton in it. Corespun polyester/cotton (polyester core with cotton covering) of a high quality is also a good choice...
We might be able to work something out mate if we can get a few people interested here in Oz.
Yes longer lengths please Dutch.
Ok cool I should get some embossed 90 to try.
I made a pattern for the netting which makes it much easier for future builds, and I will just use that for the cover. I think the shock cord would...
Mate we obviously think alike, that is pretty much spot on what I have planned, you beat me too it. As you know the nets on my hammocks are cut with a cat cut so it should fit quite well. How does...
Of course. Look forward to seeing it.
Will this be where I get convinced to buy some embossed Argon 90?;)
Thanks mate. Great song that one.

Hey all,
I know there are quite a few Aussie hangers that lurk around here now, so I thought I should take the opportunity to update some of our product offerings, which I have not done for quite...
I had one customer rip his Hexon 1.0 hammock when he made contact with a rock below him, but apart from that have had no reports of damage or concerns.
You are the rope master Lawson.
Man you are on a creative blitz - have you retired already? :)
Its working for me.
The single layer Goshawk with whoopies weighs about 846grams with everything in the stuff sack - http://www.tiergear.com.au/11/online-shop/goshawk-hammock
Thanks Marty - I appreciate you supporting my breakfast cereal addiction.
Ha ha - well I think you will like it. Perfect for day trips.
Hey Luke - glad you like it. We really appreciate the kind words and support.
@apsilon - should not be too much longer, we are pretty swamped with orders at the moment but with Sarah on board...
That is awesome Dutch and team. Order incoming soon.
Very nice. There is a real resurgence in Australian made gear at the moment. Benny said he is happy to show the hammock.
