Welcome from north Jersey!
The best is a piece of Tyvek, like the stuff used in home construction. Waterproof and extremely durable. Hell, I think I remember Shires making a tarptent from it.
On an 11' hammock, the ridgeline is about 110".
An 11' (132") tarp will end up covering you with 11" to spare on each side.
A 12' tarp will give you 17" on each side.
Me? I have the 13' model....
I say we leave him hanging.
What he said. It's happened to most of us.
Yeah, it's a bit of a pain in the azz to navigate on a phone.
Don't spoil them! Drag their a$$e$ out there!
Save them from Nature Deficit Disorder! It's your duty as a parent.
I've subscribed to the thread, but won't know for sure if I have that weekend free until we get closer to the date.
I had site 218 for 3 days over Labor Day weekend and it was perfect weather....
How many hammocks can this site realistically support?
Congrats on finally getting out.
Nice report. Thanx.
My daughter is a maybe, depending on how much school work she has at the time. Every hang should be family-friendly. :glare:
What he said.
It will certainly help others with concerns to have information from a professional.
They may land, they may twitch, they may leave, they may not! Either way, they may not bug you!
Welcome from the North.
Thanx for the report. This trail has just come to my attention and all info is welcome.
Keep on hiking and camping! The best therapy there is.
If I don't cinch up the bottom it tends to touch the ground. But since I also treated it with permethrin bugs haven't been an issue.
With regards to the Velcro, I've noticed some snagging on the...
Maybe you should ask Ben what he thinks.
Updated schedule. Skipping stay at the Doyle and hiking 4 miles further to Cove Mtn. Shelter.
Of course! It's fixed now, thanx!
Welcome from Morris County!
Check out this upcoming hang.
Feel free to post your own pre-hike plans is this thread if you want.
I'm planning an ambitious hike into PGFSP arriving on the Thursday before official festivities commence.
I just snagged site #11.
When you reserve, how many people do you reserve for?
I've heard that before.
I'll be out for 3 nights with my daughters at our favorite state forest campgrounds. We may be visited by some friends too. Looking forward to it.
Nice job Ed!
40° is my confort cutoff too for 3/4 UQ. If I had to buy now, I'd go with the full length 20° and a PLUQ for 50°+.
My daughter and I had a great time with our PA and OH friends. Lots of good conversation and cheer around the campfire. Thankfully the weather cooperated with us and allowed us our campfires!
Welcome from NJ!
The temperature ranges are looking good. 81/57 & 80/62.
LOL. He has a couple of Kelty tarps, not hammock specific.
Food, water, beverages, toiletries, ...
Basically whatever you need to live! It's car camping so if you have it and there's room, bring it.
Can't wait to see you bro!
I'm bringing a big tarp (bigger than EdLee's) and my Camp Chef propane stove. If anyone has a propane tank they can bring as a backup, that would be good. Just in case.
I'll be debuting my new 11'...
Oh, BTW, welcome to the forums.
****! I'm old enough to remember that.
Now we can call you BuffEdLee!
There are restrictions.
Hahaha! You remembered! I'll see if I can motivate the Mrs. It's a lot of work. I'd offer her some fatwood, but she doesn't even know what it is.
I'm actually tentative on this hang. It...
Is there a sign-up sheet for this yet?
Shock cord probably isn't necessary for use with cuben since it doesn't stretch. And can be a scary thought should your stake be sling shot.
Ratdog is that way-cool uncle I always wish I had.
I know you mentioned PA, but Stokes State Forest in NJ is nice. Or Jenny Jump. Or Round Valley Reservoir.
To be clear, is this the parking lot we're talking about?
According to the previous posts, tents and dogs shouldn't be a problem. Nice dogs that don't bark in the night, right?
What would you use on No-See-Um netting?
I have a 5 drive and hope to be there between 12 & 1.
I don't treat waterproof items or down items.
Shirts, pants, hats, buffs, gaitors, socks and bugnet get dunked and rung out and hung to dry. I use one of the socks to apply some solution to my...
