PYOP......
Kansas City can be down right hot in mid-September...average low around 60. I wouldn't "sweat" it too much.
This is actually quite common in Central and South America. There are no rest stops in the jungle.
I'll take the jar bridge, please...pm on the way.
I was actually on a knot-learning quest when I discovered hammock camping. Researching knots, I stumbled upon Just-Jeff's site which ultimately led me here.
If it's gonna be above 65 overnight, I don't use any bottom insulation. The hammock by itself is a great way to stay cool. Stay cool.
Sounds interesting...We need a pic, man!
Congrats, Steve...you're gonna love it!
That is awesome, man! Everybody looks happy!
I think for anything over 60*, you could make the woobie work...you could probably get by with just a sleeping bag.
Yep, icicle hitch would work, but I'd bet a few extra wraps would accomplish the same thing.
HAHA! There's a lot going on out there! Go out in winter, it's dead silent.
The midshipman's knot (also known as the rolling hitch) may work as hair bear suggested, but you could also try the icicle hitch. It is known for superior holding with modern "slick" line.
That's awesome, man...saw you were selling some gear to help fund it. Good on you, bro! I'm sure you reap rewards from doing this.
There are a lot of people that do it, but it really is a different animal. They call them "treeboats.". Google for pics.
I watched an episode last night where he was in Suriname and all the locals were hanging in hammocks. It appeared to be just a fact of life for them. I remember thinking to myself that's what I'd...
For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to do that. I have uploaded a pic to my gallery, you can see it there.
I like to keep it modular, too, so I can use the hammock without the net and the...

I'm a newb here, but I just bought a cheapie bugnet from Cabela's for $15 and just drape it over my ridgeline and suspension and let it hang down (no sewing, no nothin). I treated hammock and bugnet...

I think it was about $27 shipped for my kit from AHE. (straps, toggles, and whoopies)
I just whipped together my double layer gold/champagne 60 x 126. I was going for kind of a dessert camo look, but that didn't work out lol. Just waiting on my suspension kit from arrowhead to try...
Pm sent with question on the bug net.

Thanks for the welcome, guys!
Hi, I'm Chris. You guys got me all stoked. I'm shopping for my first camping hammock and can't wait to get hanging!
