I had a lot of fun at my first Yates hang. I'll definitely be back! Many thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome.

This will be my first time coming to Yates. Is there a cost to enter and park at the campsite? How close is parking to the campsite? Anything else I need to know as a nooby?
I will be there...
I soak my hammock and bugnet every 3-4 months in permethrin. Living in the south it needed pretty much year round, or at least I feel it is. I've gotten mosquito bites as late as Nov and as early as...
On the advice of my wife, who has been sewing most of her life, I leave it and roll it into the hem.

This was my first hang with PSH and it was great. Good weather, for the most part, great trees, and awesome people. I will be coming to more PSH hangs in the future.

Is there an official sign up for this event? I've indicated on FB that I'm coming, as that is the only place I've found any information. Is there anything else I need to do other than show-up?

I made 11'6" DIY from RSBTR Marpat silpoly and I love it. Might just be because I made it, but I think it blends into Georgia woods pretty well.

First hammock I laid in was a Hennessy Scout. That experience got me thinking I didn't have to give up camping. The ground just hurts too much because of some old injuries. The first hammock I bought...
Registered. Looking forward to it.
I added myself to the bottom of the Georgia state column. I see what might be a formatting issue, the column header for Georgia is on row 51 instead of at the top on row 3 like the other State...
I had a lot of fun on my first group hang. Looking forward to more.

I have a question. I'll be there Thursday night and am trying to figure out what gear to bring. What is the normal expected temperatures and weather like? I've looked up past weather for the Tampa...
Just registered yesterday. This will be my first HangCon and the first time I've been camping in over 2 years.
Wanted to chime back in and thank everyone for their input. I ended up staying at Tyler State Park. Worked out really well and I had a couple of great nights of sleeping.
Really not sure on how much more it can hold. Doesn't seem strained at my 30-40lbs.
As for drip lines, I've not used them, but it probably wouldn't hurt. It is more of a lashed type gathered end...
Love mine. Holds my entire pack and pack contents (70L) (except my hammock and tarp of course). Kept everything dry in a pretty hard rain as well.
Anything specific you'd like to know?

Thanks SilvrSurfr. I was starting to look at Tyler. Pretty direct for my route. I hope as my Son makes TX his home I'll have more opportunities to visit and camp in the area.
I'm going to drive out to get my son from UNT so he can come home to GA and work for the summer.
I'll was planning on camping somewhere along I-20 in East TX on the way to get him, and then in...
I have a CL on the ridge line with a prussik, then I pull that CL into a "Larkshead" knot and thread through the shock cord attached to my tarp ridgeline. The shock cord on the ridgeline is tied in...
I too think it is fine just as is. I vote to leave it the way it is.

https://ripstopbytheroll.com/ also has kits, instructions and lots of fabric/supplies.
I get my Gütermann Mara 70 and Tera 40 (glossy, with high tensile strength, great for tarps etc.) from Wawak sewing: www.wawak.com

I've used goo-gone successfully on mine with no apparent ill effects.

I use a Molly Mac Gear Box, usually hung between two near by trees. Has worked really well for me through a few pretty wet nights.

I'm 230 and mine is holding up well. Granted only slept in it 6 nights maybe, but it is still holding up well. Goal is to get down to 200. Right now it is just a tad stretchier than I'd like, but...
I got my 80" Cayenne Pepper quilt from George a couple of weeks ago. Just had a chance today to hang in my back yard and try it out. It is a pretty breezy day today here in NW GA and about 60*F. ...
Just ordered a Cayenne Pepper Underquilt. 80" standard width. Never could get my 3/4 length to keep me warm. Decided full length was the way to go. Dark olive outer, gray trim and deep purple inside.
Hello from Dallas, GA.
This is awesome!
I have a Sparrow with a peak shelf at both ends.
I use this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cocoon-Air-45-Core-Ultralight-Lumbar-Support-Pillow/152209742
I'm not 100% satisfied with it though. Even using the felted side my neck sweats. I've been...
I also used the permatex on my DIY winter 12 from RSBTR. Worked really well straight from the tube. And big +1 on the clips. I used the clover wonder clips and was very pleased.
BTW that creepy sounding animal is a frog. We have a few in the creek behind our house.
I'm going to second this. I live in the Atlanta area and it is still really warm here. My Jarbidge makes a really good fall/spring UQ for thus area.
I've used orange Goo-Gone with good results. Don't know about long term affects on the nylon though. Washed it all off with soapy water once the sap was disabled, hung to dry afterwards. My straps...

I just did a 4 night hang with my Dad, son, and brothers in the Sangre de Cristo mountains in CO a few weeks ago. We found a great place to hang. Only problem we had was finding live trees (at 11,500...
I recently went camping in the Sangre De Christo mountains in Colorado with my Dad, son, brother, and brothers in law with my awesome Sparrow. It is 11' and 64" wide. It is a SL Robic 1.0. I weigh in...
I just got home from a backpacking trip to the Sangre DE Cristo mountains in CO. It was wetter than I've ever seen the CO mountains before and their were a ton of mosquitos. My hammock and clothes...
I just ordered 3 from Amazon this last Monday. Expected delivery was originally next Wednesday, then I got an email saying they would be delivered Friday. I actually received them on Thursday. So...
I have a 11' Sparrow that is SL Robic. It is a little stretchy, but I've not decided if I like it or not yet. It holds my weight just fine. I'm 5'10" and 235. My other hammock is a WBBB 1.7 DL...

It isn't connected to the hammock body really. The quilt hooks are about 10" or so from the gathered end. I just pop the suspension cords in them on both sides at each end (4 total) this keeps it...
I've posted this question on the "contact us" link on dutchwaregear.com but haven't heard back yet, so I though I would see if any others might know the answer:

I actually don't have a good picture of mine, but Paul from Arrowhead (maker of the Jarbidge) has a really good video showing and explaining it's suspension:

Finally finished my tarp. I decided on a 11' 6" ridgeline, so not quite a winter 12. Seam sealed with Permanent flow-able silicone. Also added an external pole mod. Love the extra space. To hang it...
