Really sorry to have missed the Summer Hang... :( My Jeep blew a torque converter and rear main engine seal, so I couldn't get into the hills. Plus I spent a week in Florida and got a piece of...
Put me down as confirmed, although I haven't reserved a campsite or anything yet...

Welcome from Colorado! :)
Spent some time in the Ringstaed area. Beautiful country, beautiful people!
Good suggestions by Food - also, check out REI store on Wadsworth Ave.... not too far from Golden, in Lakewood/Englewood area.
Cannibal -
Seg. 1 is still closed 'til early next year - the alternate is open though... I'm gonna go with Bob and see what we can see... I have a weight loss goal, and a goal to do the trail by...
OutandBack -
Will give you a call this weekend sometime to pull this together. I'm headed up for a day trip tomorrow - Sat. Oct 1. to scout out some campin' spots and 4x4 trails with some...
Jim - looks great!
Humidity down finally? Bugs?
How about the Fall version of this trip?
You've got me inspired and I went to the library and got a book on the CT.
I need to get out of the city soon!
Subscribing to this thread too... I should have all my gear (and my act) together before then!
Looking forward to completing some segments of the CT soon!
I'm 6'3" and 380lbs. (gulp) and I went with the ENO DN. VERY comfortable lay, and priced right - @ $50 on eBay.
I'm also wide torso, long legs... and I lay quite nicely in the DN.
I think most...
DanaMac,
I am going to contact you about coming down for a short visit soon... Would like to get fitted for a pack - and see all of the goodies! :)
Thanks Brian - YouTube embed just wouldn't work for me...????
Well I finally got my whoopee suspension on my ENO DN - thanks to OutandBack here at the forums! I was pretty scared that something was gonna fail - I made my own tree straps out of 2" Polypro...

"does this taste funny to you?"
Welcome to another Colorado Hanger!

Kelty car tarp... Brunton map measure? hmmm....
Should be a sticky! These are great illustrations.:shades:

Thanks for mentioning these packs!
I gotta look into getting one!
4 years as a pack mule for the US Army... I know all about carrying heavy loads! :scared:
Oh, and I got some Amsteel arriving that should be in the PO Box tomorrow - so I'll coordinate with ya and drop it off to ya! :)
Just have to be careful about how you describe a hammock forum visitor... can't exactly tell your wife that you're having a friend over to make whoopie(s) lol.
Hey there!
Kinda like we discussed a little bit - I'm going to try hanging at least one end from my Jeep roof rack and see how it does... I like your thinking about using climbing nuts/friends for...
...for guiding me through making my own whoopies!
And for being a wonderful host and making me feel welcome here at HF.
Welcome Dave,
From another Mile Hi (+) Hanger in Littleton, just down the road from OutandBack. :D
Also using ENO DN with whoopies and straps.
Hope to find you soon at a Colorado Hang!...
Looking at doing something similar myself, so I'm staying tuned to this thread. Please post pictures if you can!

Welcome Kelly/Tex!
Lots of great resources here - have you watched Shug's videos yet?
Chuck Norris doesn't use any kind of suspension. A couple quick roundhouse kicks and Gravity is so scared of Chuck that it leaves him alone. He defies it and hangs suspended in mid-air.
Ok campers... stay tuned...
I just got my ENO DN, about to buy the whoopie/dutch combo.
I weigh in @ 365lbs. :scared:
If I don't fall, then you won't. (kinda feel like Sasquatch...
Gonna bookmark this thread as I have just ordered my ENO DoubleNest last night. Looking forward to modifying it/adding to it. Great ideas here! :)
Cool Jim!
I may have to place an order and tell them you sent me!
Great pics Jim!
Did a little trip down around Steelville earlier this summer, but no overnights. Only dumped the canoe 3 times! :scared::rolleyes:
Still haven't got my hammock done, but I'll...
Quick shout-out to Smokebait - from right down the river from you in Jeff City... I'm just getting started here, but I think I'll be ordering me some "whoopie" soon!
Starting out with an ENO...
Ok big guys... I'm the highest bidder on a ENO DOUBLE NEST HAMMOCK... I will probably modify the suspension, try it out and report back.
Any bigger guys using whoopie slings?
I will most...
