Should have been using your Strap and Crap and that wouldn't have happened, LOL!
I agree that he has it backwards. Nylon isn't used in climbing because of strength, it is used because it stretches. No stetch= broken back in a fall. The sudden stop from lack of stretch kills...
This is really cool. I mountain bike as well, but I haven't started overnight bike trips yet. Soon though very soon.
The scout shop in Raleigh, NC has had hammock stuff for a long time. I hope that this is showing a shift to a backpacking and leave no trace focus in Scouts. I love this is the case. I have been...
Thanks for shooting a video of the campsite. I have camped at Falls a couple times and have seen this site with my own eyes. The camping areas at Falls are top notch. Thank you once again for...
Nice work. Its always cool to see the birth of a new hammock.
I always just sew a row of four boxes and cross them out. I always try to error on the side of too much. I think these bar tacks would hold up well.
Nice work, I may have to break out the old thread injector soon, lol.
I think that the rope would still be too uncomfortable because of pressure points. I've never tried it but I may be wrong. I say give it try and see if it works for you.
Those would be cool if they worked here, lol. Our ground is red clay mud and is hard as rock, lol.
I haven't had this issue yet, but I'm glad that you posted your experience on here. I know to kinda steer clear of the deluxe and stick with a DN.
I'm probably going to take this course next year. I've got Wood Badge and everything else this year, lol. I love to see scouts of any age joining the hammocking movement and hopefully backpacking.
Well, got everything with the scouts sorted out and I am going to make it. My wife and son will be with me and I'll bring hot dogs to toss on the grill as will. If anything else is needed, just let...
Well, finally got the green name today. Happy to give back to the forum.
lol, Always...Be Prepared!!
Congratulations to both of you. Being a father is the best and most important job that we will ever have.
I'm going to try my hand at this myself. Our boy scout camp has many different kinds of camping from wooded sites to the middle of a field, so I need to be ready for anything, lol.
I think I'm going to make a set of UCRs. I'm still learning this hobby and I'm always looking for new things to try out. Especially if it allows me to get a lighter pack.
I may just have to find an old portable easel now. My wife thanks you, lol.
I think this is a great idea and I would love to use it sometime, depends on work and scout schedules. I think you should keep going on this project. I don't see the problem of an exclusive hammock...
I think that just putting up poles outside the shelters when there are no trees would be a great step forward on this subject. Hanging in the shelters would be great but I think the wildlife, such...
I got to quit being lazy and make my donation. This forum has given me so much in the few days I have been on it and I'm gonna give back to it soon.
Nice work. I just hope that the one I make comes out as good.
Awesome job on that UQ. I love the orange color.
I'm glad to see this asked because I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the answers. Now time to make the wife mad and order some amsteel, lol.
I agree with that. My wife grew up in a family that thought the outdoors was a city in China, lol. I've had the task of teaching her and my two boys all about camping and the outdoors at once. ...
lol, I know the feeling. I'm 6'2" and 195 lb, but luckily I have all boys even though the oldest one is begging for a red hammock, lol.
Welcome from NC and a mountain biker.
lol, I see that I am not the only one with this problem. I am already looking at materials to make my boys one and some more projects for mine, lol.
I hope to make it with my wife and two boys. Probably be two of us hanging and two in a tent. I've got to make that Scouting stuff won't interfere before I can completely commit. Thanks for...
lol, yeah. My oldest son told me that I had to make him one now so we can make hammock bunk beds, lol. We are working on his hiking and camping skills and I hope to take him backpacking with me...
Welcome to the forum. I'm new here too and I have found a ton of great information.
Well, I went and picked up my first hammock from walmart today and it looks like I have already lost it, lol.
Awesome guys. Thanks again. I plan on going to the Smoked Butt event, gotta make sure that we don't have scout stuff that weekend. OCDave, we do have great opportunities for the outdoors here. ...
Awesome to see so many NC guys here. CJK is literally right down the road, lol. Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Thanks Breyman. Nice to see another Scouter.
I am a newbie to hammock camping, but I have tent camped my whole life. I've recently started to get serious about backpacking and thought that hammock camping would allow me to cut down on weight...
My name is the username that I use everywhere, simply because I am addicted to the outdoors, lol.
