I need to finance some other gear purchases, so am selling my Hammock Gear Cuben Fiber hex tarp (11' ridgeline). It hasn't been used much (5-10 nights) and is in perfect condition. I have it in snake...
I also hike the West Rim Trail, use my WBBB. You can hike in from the Ansonia side (North) for a just a couple of miles and there are awesome overlooks to hang at. There are also places to park and...
Insect shield allows you to send in your own clothes and they treat it. This is what I do

Hi, I am going to complete the PCT in 3 sections - the first section in 2013 from Campo to Lone Pine - about 750 miles. Start date April 7, for about 45 days plus or minus. I am assuming no bug...
Thanks, all - the tarp has been sold
Yep, it is ounces. Here is the best pic I have in porch mode
I have a cuben tarp made by Zpacks (Joe). When I ordered it, I wanted the same size as my WBBB Super Fly 132X120. Since cuben comes in 8.5' widths, he added additional material to meet my specs.

For Sale:
20* 3 season Yeti from WBBB. http://warbonnetoutdoors.com/quilts.php I just got it last Christmas and have never used it, has not been stored compressed. Well, I did put it up to see...
Just got back from the JMT a week ago, and would have had no problem hanging the whole time...but since I was hiking with a ground person, I chose to go the traditional tent method. Kind regret that...
I have seen people stake one end of the hammock tarp w/ doors directly into the ground, and then use one tall trekking pole at the head end.
Thanks for the review, I am considering ordering a Weight Weenie Hammock from them!
My cuben tarp is (of course) lighter, and packs "somewhat" smaller than an equally sized sil nylon
Love my wbbb!
What do you think of using an air pad (neoair Xlite) for both the hammock, and the ground when necessary?
I am planning to hike the southern 1/3 of the PCT next spring - Campo to Lone Pine, and...
I have the "new" thermarest neo air XLite, worked great for my JMT hike!
The hammock was sooo much more comforatable! Couldn't believe it till I tried it!
Not sure if you are still looking, but I have a 3-Season Yeti 20* that I got for last Christmas.
Has never been used (hung it once to see what it looked like). I had 2 oz extra down added...
Bags (or quilts) from zpacks are great! 900 down fill, size customizable, and excellent quality
I am considering the following: tarp tent for when there are no trees (above treeline, dessert) AND a hammock for when there are trees. I would characterize my sleep in a hammock as a "9", on the...
I will also clip the backpack to my support line if the weather is sketchy
The lighter the better! I use zpacks http://zpacks.com/accessories/stakes.shtml
My tarp cost 3X more than my hammock - went with cuben fiber to save weight
Also from PA - did the mid state trail last fall. Hammock worked great! Enjoy your upcoming hikes...
Hammocks are awesome!
Not something that I would do, but I enjoyed the video, thanks for posting!
Looked up an ultralight hammock alternative http://www.buttinasling.com/weight-weenie-hammock.html
awesome pics!
But...has anyone had the water bottle break during the night?
Looking forward to hearing about the hammock for the balance of the trail! I see you picked it up in Belden. I am considering the same for next year! Love your journal.
Awesome video! I'm still undecided. I have 2 full set-ups, one to hang and one to ground. I'm almost thinking...for 16.5 oz (my tent) I could bring both lol.
Wait a min...maybe...
I have read some previous threads that speculated it could be done, but was looking for an update - perhaps someone who actually did the hike with a hammock, and how it turned out...i.e. would you do...
This was the first hammock i tried. Not worth it at any price. Really.
I loved my super fly dimensions, and Joe from zpacks did a custom order for me - cuben tarp with same footprint as the SF. Love it!
Good place to order tyvek - very reasonable shipping. http://zpacks.com/accessories/tyvek.shtml

Just ordered tarpkeys and a tarpcross to use on my WBBB - looking forward to simplicity (and at only 2 gr each)
Here is a link for something like you are talking about. http://www.trailquest.net/sandals.html Not being DIY, I went with these and really like them...
I just ordered one of these from zpacks, along with the chaps http://zpacks.com/accessories/wpb_jacket.shtml
Here are my conclusions for the AT try:
1) I will hang 90-95% of the time on my thru
2) I do not find the ccf pads uncomfortable at all
3) I can use a pad system for less weight than an UQ ...
I used to carry a Kel Tec P32 - only 9 oz (loaded) and stored it on my WBBB shelf. But, after a few trips...well, it was 9 oz. Plus, the caliber was pretty small. No longer carry it.
Would you be interested in a WBBB Super Fly (camo)?
Well, 2013 is a ways away - but my initial planning start date is April 3.
How would rate the convenience factor? I also have the stock adjustable webbing, and wonder how it can be improved on.
Nice Pictures! You will love your new equip!
I'm waiting for my new cuben tarp from zpacks! http://zpacks.com/shelter/hammock_tarps.shtml
heheh...I want one!
+1 to MrClean.
I have a super fly and love it, can't go wrong. But, in the name of ounces, I ordered a cuben tarp from zpacks. http://zpacks.com/shelter/hammock_tarps.shtml I added some width as a mod so it is...
Enjoyed reading about your trip! Can't wait to begin my own journey!
