So is this date definite....I need to plan accordingly if it is.
Well unfortunately people, Yes I live in Spocompton, but thanks to Spokrane's wonderful economy :cursing: I work in the Seattle area and am home on the weekends and such. So not sure when I can get...
About 13 years ago when I got back into backpacking and hiking. My friend and I were out on a weekend trip and we were discussing weights of things (I wasn't an ultra lighter then) and he was talking...
Try this link as well.
Where the heck were all you guys a few years ago. Seems like I was the only Spokane hanger. I work in Seattle during the week, but I am home on the weekends, extended days off, and summers, so I am...
Hey, I think I can make this one this time. I missed last years, but 4 out of 5 isn't bad. I am sure Buenos will post something up, since its his baby.
Our wives will think we are nuts no matter what it is we do
Yes I almost gave up backpacking just because I could no longer sleep on the ground. That is when I discovered hammocking, and...
Depending on what the temps are in my house/season it is outside, depends on whether or not I am in my skivvies, or in sweats and t-shirt. I have been sleeping in my WBRR for a year and half now,...
Oh I know...I have a UL system already. I was merely giving a review of the Ridge Runner, and how I use it, and what I use it for. Not trying to make it part of my UL kit at all. Hope that clears up...
Been waiting a bit to make this post. I have been using the DL Ridge Runner now for about a year and half as a full time bed. I am 6.1ft and 220lbs. (I'm working on the 220 part  )
Pitch the idea of doing side by side hammocks in the room.
My wife and I have taken naps in her huge DHDB but never have been able to sleep a full night. Plus we have two dachshunds that require...
This Hammock Merit Badge link might help in your quest.
Looks like you had a grand time. Gotta love little overnighters like that. It does the mind and body good.
Just curious as to why you filtered your water as you poured it into your pot. Seems...
I went to hammocks full time, just because I could. I really enjoy them when hiking so when the opportunity came about to be able to use them full time I figured why not.
I will say the I sleep...
Im in. Thanks so much for doing this.
Well I just checked my schedule, and I will be gone on a conference for work at that time.
I am going to miss you all, first time since it started 4 years ago.
Yes..thats the spot. We always hang out in the first grove of aspens. Its about a 7 minutes walk in from the parking lot.
Umtanum Creek. Near Ellensburg. It a really neat area, lots to explore during the day, fires at night, and Buenos famous soup in the evening.
The walk in is easy breezy, so don't feel like you...
This is good we're planning this already.
I will check my schedule and give a shout out for what works for me and the wife.
I'll Take the Mt. Smith Pack.
Pm in bound.
Welcome to the west side, where there's real mountains and scenery that will leave you speechless, and if you tried, you would have no breath with which to speak.
Now that your "close" maybe you...
Love your vids there Mr. Shug-a-roo. Looks like a wonderful place to hike.
Now some day you guys are going to have to come out and hike a section or two of the PCT with me (yes thats an open...
Ha I just posted that in the off-topic discussion.
Heres what I wrote
"So one of my students came in today and asked if I was stuck in rush hour traffic this weekend.
If you ask me this...
Welcome to the forum.
You have so much to learn grass hopper :shades:
I'll bring garlic bread, and tatter salad, and maybe some other sort of something.
You have a way to keep the tater salad cool, right Gary?
Is there a head count of those who are coming?
So the misses says shes not going to make this one :( but I am bringing a newb along so that he can see what its all about.
See you all at the end of the month.
Hey are we doing...
Wolfman finally got himself a hammock. Woot Woot
2.24 pounds..are you kidding me right now?:scared::confused:
Plus that looks extremely complicated, and over engineered, as with a lot of things. I get out to enjoy the simpleness of the...
I'm in....not sure about the Mrs, and the little thing.
Last Child in the Woods
also talks about this, and also adds to the validation of being out in nature as being healthy.
I highly recommend picking up a copy and reading it...and this is...
First watch the Hammock how to videos from Shug.
Then check Dejoa's site and order his book, either in paper or the interwebby thing.
Next consider this book and the companion website
Sorry, try it now....:rolleyes::scared:
Sorry so late getting to the party guys. I had a great time, and as always GaryR is a stupendous host. It was great to re-connect with people and connect with new ones. The misses had a great time,...
Im 6.1 and 220 and I not only perma-hang in the RR but it goes out with me as well. It has held everything I been able to "throw" at it.
Agreed. And let's try to do it when its still daylight so we can see what were eating. Although by the time we had it last time, everybody was shall we say ignorant of, and didn't care, what they...
Wife and I will more then likely be there between 5 and 6ish pm on Friday. If you can't make it by then...we'll just walk down the road and set up...then when you get there, we'll drive our car in.
The WBRR's came in today for the wife and I. So we'll be rocking those this trip..Gonna bring the danger birds just in case :scared:
Look forward to seeing everyone there.
Are we going to do...
Wife and I are a go...She has blocked out her schedule and everything.
I'll get a hold of teegs and few others that may no know about the event..and see whats up with them.
I this still a go..the thread has been pretty dead considering how close to the hang date we are.
Wife and I will be there this year again..
She just ordered us up some WBRR, for us both...so we'll be breaking them in on this trip.
Look forward to seeing you all again.
Congrats on your "new" outback.
Nice sticker too.
Too bad you don't live closer, and I could do all the service on it for you.
I like the fact thats its portable, and can be carried like a lawn chair.
But the length doesn't look like it would be long enough to accommodate most of the hammocks we use.
I think this would be great for couples. Especially on group hangs or car camping type situations. The one thing my wife and I miss about being ground dwellers is not being to snuggle up in the tent,...
I got started on (and am quite surprised no one else has recommended them)Backpacking Lightweight(TLB) and was very active and learned so much from them.
At the same time I soon found BPL and was...
For my 3 season hiking I use a GG Thinlight pad that I have cut down. I put it in a tyvek FedEx mailer and use it as my pack frame, sit pad, etc. Then at night I take it out of the mailer, and use my...
Alway enjoy your videos. It wasn't much of a winter hang was it. I think the most dangerous winter part of it was that ice packed trail.
Pics or its not real :shades:
Well I actually hoped and expected Danger Bird VS Something other...but whatever.
Since these are the only two choices I now have, I vote:
Its more likely the occupant inside the hammock :scared:
You have to upload them into a photo share site, like Flikr, Photobucket or the likes. Then copy the image code and paste then in the...
