I used this quilt one of the three nights it was used, and I can attest that it is in new condition and more than long enough for me at 5'10". Superb quality.
Bag works great. I think of my RR like a floating bed.
I can side sleep in my RR, but it is not as versatile in terms of sleep positions. It is indescribably easier to use, especially in terms of insulation, than a BB I think.
Traverson I like your priorities. Good way to put it.
Glad to hear from you. I got interested primarily for elk hunting as well, but I have enjoyed it. I'll be taking it this weekend on a little spring bear/ scouting jaunt even though I have an entire...
My unscientific observations make me think that these 2 hammocks are the most popular gathered end/ bridge hammocks or at least two of the more popular anyway. Any ideas what percentage of each? WAGs...
I've faced some grim days buoyed by the artificially sunny weather in my orange mt hardware kiva. It's surprisingly how mood lightening it can be.
Well this confirms that at least if I plunge to the ground in an ignominious sprawl...it could happen to others as well! Thanks for the encouragement.
Little kids are easier because they don't weigh as much and compress insulation, I've put my 40lb daughter on heavy synthetic bag and she's warm as can be. I bet caribou skins would be unbeatably...
Yesterday I realized I hadn't brought biners with me so I threaded a bight of the webbing between tree and hammock through the sewn loop on my webbing suspension stuck a (green) thumb sized stick...
It is truly an awesome way to begin. Hammocking is easier with a Ridgerunner. Period.
First, I'd like it say thank you to all the people that have offered advice and help to get me started. This is an amazing group.
I got interested in hammocks because I feel like I've spent...
It's an oddly addictive interest, but with an ambassador like Shug how could it not be compelling? I was in the same boat two months ago, but I agree, with three caveats:
1. Hang inside first and...
I got interested in hammocks solely for archery elk hunting in the Rockies, and have been spending the spring experimenting.. I got a used 10degree enlightened equipment quilt, 750 down. I have...
I don't think there is anyone who can compete with wilderness logics on price in my research. Summer series top quilt is $155 45 degree 850 full down. Also I think their shipping is free. Even if you...
Awesome. I have another thing to buy. Or make that 2 more things since I'll want a spindrift as well. Slept in the regular BB on Tuesday night, trying the RR tonight. 24 degrees last night so 'll...
Thanks for the input. My DIY ideas are grand but I think it's often cheaper to buy one... I have the older BB so no problem there
I guess I don't quite understand the closed in tarp situation. Are you guys sleeping with a tarp tight enough that it acts like a single wall tent? Is this to prevent ambient moisture/ rain spray?...
I slept last night on a used leighlo quilt I just purchased here - maybe 60" long? I was covered on everything but my heels, so I think you made the right decision. I only bring it even with my...
Anybody have any experience with the Bear Burrito Oven or similar weather cover for the BB? The spindrift makes perfect sense for the RR, but my nose literally gets unpleasantly cold and I wind up...
What I can't figure out is how you sleep diagonally in a clark. I owned one and sold it because I am not very big but it seemed super small, nearly claustrophobic. The quality was very good and the...
I agree completely. I think shock cord is, basically, expendable. The shock cord I have on various things lasts in inverse proportion to the amount of time it has spent stretched out. A cheap...
Think I've found what I need, thanks to all of you! Martin
I'm no math genius, but if the angle is correct your ridgeline will be properly tensioned.
So 1. Make angle correct
2. Angle plus webbing/ whoopie adjustment determine height on tree.
With...

Here's a photo. We sleep in an open hay barn. She is holding a bird book because we always get woken up by the birds. She doesn't know what to do with the bird book, but she's pretty...
I have been using my BB's lately and actually only slept in the RR once, because I almost always have my daughter sleeping in it. It is a superb kids hammock, because there are no insulation issue...
Isn't the ridgeline in a WBBB structural?
So I slept in a Clark, a WBBB XLC and a regular BB, all in the last month, and new to hanging. Sold the first kept the last three. I bought the XLC SL 1.7 after being claustrophobic in the Clark, it...
I think your experience is absolutely anomalous. The only consistent response I get when I tell people I'm hammocking is " I tried that and froze". It's usually down to the 20s at night here and I...
I am still in the market even if the other works out..
Thanks everyone! I'll specifically try happy campers advice.
Thanks for the response.... Your purchase inspired my original looking... Pm sent.
Looking to buy a full length UQ, preferably 20 degrees or so and preferably down. Have a yeti, I'd like to try so something longer. Thanks!
As usual, I want instant gratification, so I'll probably just order one.. I ended up with four hammocks within a month of my first hang with the "I can always sell it" mentality. Sold only one.... ...
Oh I forgot, after watching Shugs video 7 or 8 I realized the previous owner had sewn on grosgrain loops for up to the ridge line suspension on my yeti, so I'll try that too..
When Shug says carry forth... I carry forth.
My cold spots were definitely physiological, not psychological... I just wondered if a full length UQ tended to be warmer/ less prone to cold spots......
I've been enjoying my winter yeti as I camp out in the yard ( it gets to 20 or so at night here even now) but it is by no means foolproof. Last night I thought I'd try a pad in my double layer but...
Thank you. I am still fiddling... My next plan is to sew on some Dutch quilt hooks... But maybe some weird snap
Arrangement is in my future
I used a thermarest sits pad for the first time last night and it worked great inside my TQ. It was much easier to use than the piece of ccf foam I'd used before. I got the idea from a Shug video...
What are the snaps for? I bought this winter yeti used on the forum, I don't know how old it is. I see on the video that it has the pearl white snap on the head end but beyond that I don't know....
Thanks for the quick replies everyone. It always surprises me how people want to get kids to join them but often equip them with inferior junk, not purposely, just a lot of kid stuff is not as nice....
Does anyone know if there is a vendor who does or who will make a topquilt for a child? I know they could use a big one, and I know I could make something, but it has been my experience that kids...
I too am in Helena... Although new to this I bought a lot of used stuff and would be glad to talk about it, share
insights etc. I'll pm you a phone number and look forward to talking. Martin.
I sleep at home on a tempurpedic foam mattress 8"'thick. It must have an r-value several times what the best underquilt or pad would have, yet I sleep on it from at least 60 to 90 degrees. I...
Do you mean a fitted top, fleece or ripstop, or literally draped like a sheet on a clothesline? Got a photo? Sound too simple and good to be true... From tenting I think that any way to stop...

Here it is.
I just posted this question in the warbonnet forum and got great answers and a shug video reference I hadn't seen addressing the question. I don't know how to link to it, but it was within the week....
Does anybody use dutch quilt hooks - I just found them and think they might help. Also, it happens that the first thing I bought here was a used winter yeti. After watching shugs video #8 or 9 I...
That would be a heck of a place to backpack where one needs an eight weight fly rod... But it would be the greatest Alaskan travel setup ever. And a good deal.
