Have you tried a sleeping pad?
In it to win it!!!
Facebook suggested that I check out TheHammockForum.com.
I can't believe this site even was created. We all know that HammockForums.net is the only place to go for all matters hammocking.
It's great because I can hang on a weeknight, and get to work the next morning. Just outside of DC. And it's free!
The light was fading as I was setting up, so I only snapped a couple shots.
I slept wonderfully! Until the Canada Geese decided it was wake up time. Enjoying the sound of rain on the tarp is a great way to wake up.
And thanks for the Netty Dochaertaigh! Glad I saw your post when I did, no telling how long the Netty would've stayed up for grabs.
I've been hanging with a Dutch Argon over the past year, and I've really enjoyed it. But I've always had my eye on the charcoal grey PolyD Netty.
I finally got my hands on one from the for sale...
The formula for the number of hammocks one should own is n+1. Where n=the number of hammocks you already have.
Btw, I decided not to hang tonight. Girlfriend reminded me that I had a few things to great done tonight, and I also wasn't up for taking the risk of the thunder storms.
My Girlfriend lives out in Reston, and her folks live out in Chantilly near Dulles. I'm over in DC, just below silver spring. My hang spot is usually Swains Lock on the C&O canal towpath in Potomac,...
Dkurfiss: if I had a hangable back yard, I would. My favorite weeknight hand spot is approximately 40 min drive.
I'm looking to receive a new hammock today, and wanted to get it out for a hang tonight.
The forecast is calling for heavy rain 5-9pm with possible thunderstorms.
My dilemma is whether to go...
My girlfriend entrusted me, and purchased a Hammeck Netty. She's a fair weather hanger, but a hanger none the less.
Is the anti static gun of the space lazer variety?
Check out Nikwax waterproofing products. I've sprayed tarps with their spray on formula, as well as washed hiking pants/jackets with their tech wash product. No staining, and pretty good repelling.
I'm just curious, would running a Netty made of PolyD in the dryer with no heat and a couple dryer sheets remedy the static issue with the PolyD?
What do you all think about running it for a cycle in the dryer at no heat with a couple dryer sheets?
I like the video Doogie! Good to see the new steed in your stable.
I had be eyeing up the PolyD 1.4 Charcoal Grey Netty for some time now.
One popped up this morning on the for sale section...
Fascinating to see the world happening all around us.
I'll take it!
I'll jump on the Netty. That's the color/size I've been eyeing up.
I was in the Netty (girlfriend's) for a couple nights this weekend, and I staked out the side pulls just to get the fully Netty experience. They helped keep the pulled net out of my face. Of course,...
Here are a few shots of my girlfriend's Netty.
Pictures or it didn't happen.
I was in the Blacksburg, Va region this weekend for a bike ride. I have a Dutch argon hammock, but my girlfriend offered to let me use her Netty since I actually hadn't slept in one before, yet...
I actually have made whoopies per instruction from Dutch at a MAHHA, and have the needles of different sizes from that.
I got my mountain goat gear snake skins. I am very pleased with them, the drawstring closure is a cool feature that I hadn't seen before on snake skins. Glad you guys gave the recommendation.
I sure am glad lil Dutch pulled your number from that stuff sack. I don't know that my description, or project would have been this involved.
You can almost see the finish line! We will all be...
Welcome to the forum. I can't speak to it personally, but from posts/videos I've read/watched, hammock camping can be very dog friendly. Check out this video done by HF user Fronkey about just that...
I had a phone cable (does anyone use those any more?) that I split open the jacket, and found 4 smaller cables. I found they were a good size for serving as my splicing tool. The phone cable actually...
I sleep in an 11ft Dutch hammock. At spring MAHHA, I laid in a 10ft Netty, and felt it to be a bit more confining. IMO, the extra room from the extra foot is noticeable, and is appreciated.
Well that went pretty easily. Thanks to Doogie's video, and Bryce88's suggestion of repurposing some wire from an unused cable. I knocked out the split ridgeline pretty seamlessly. One thing I...
Every time I peek at the Hammeck site, I just want, want, want.
I want the stand, I want the Netty, I want the Hammeck!
Just had to get that off my chest.
This video has circled around a few times. I realized it's a pretty close impression to one of Shug's "characters" from his videos. What do you think?
I can pick that up at ace hardware?
Per my one overnight in the hammock, the single is small. It's short from end to end, and isn't very wide. As I said before, this particular Hummingbird hammock seems like a better lounge hammock...
What are you using as your splicing tool in the video Doogie? I'm planning on swinging by the music shop to pick up some guitar string, but there's also an ace hardware near by as well that I could...
We have decided that it would be better use of our time to go somewhere a little closer to home. Smoke Butt is a but of a drive for a weekend hang for us.
So despite having the 1.2 rip on you, you're wanting to get another instead of upping to 1.4 at the cost of a few oz?
We decided to go the Airbnb route. She wants me to experience Charlottesville as much as possible over the short weekend that we have.
Warm sleeper here. I just ordered an Alps microfiber sleeping bag liner off amazon for $21. I'll give it a try in coming weeks.
Dutch uploaded the video of his Half-Wit Hammock last night.
Check it out: Half-Wit Hammock
I'm looking for a image/video tutorial on making a split ridgeline with zing-it. I've got a length of zing-it, and a couple Dutch wasps on their way. Anyone have any favorite resources for this type...
I have a 25ft hank of zing it that I ordered for some reason. I just ordered a couple wasps. I'll be trying my hand at creating my own split ridge line using the wasps and zing it.
I'll need to...
Be delicate with it. Holes stretch easy. I speak from experience.
My girlfriend is a UVA alum. We are planning on going down for a weekend at the end of May. We are interested in finding a place to hang, but it seems the majority of the campsites in the area are of...
So did you already stock up on 10.5 hammocks?
Metaphorically, and literally.
I'll be biking out to Swain's Lock in Potomac, Md from DC after work tonight for an over night hang. Weather is forecasted to be perfect. Come join if you're in the area.
It hasn't been exposed to any campfire in the times I have used it. I suspect is how I am stuffing it in the stuff sack with the hammock. Not sure of a better way to store it without having to...
