Thanks for the replies, all good info.
Great question ;), but a hard one to answer.
I can't say for certain that it makes a difference. I think it does, and since I took the time to shape my baffles-I want it to, and it makes sense that...
KSB - hope it isn't a thread derail, but how do you like the .67 from RSBTR? Any second thoughts about not spending the extra for the .5o?
I think that the smallest continuous loop is ~ 8" long if following the Samson guidelines. BUT, you can loop it twice. That will take up a lot of that extra length.
Thanks for posting, It is always great to see new designs/ideas here.
I think WV showed another version of a lounger several years ago at one of the MAHHAs, I'm not sure if he ever posted pictures...
Hand stuffed down into a bunch of newspaper bags inside the down garbage bag, tied them off, weighed and marked each one. Combined different bags until each group = ~ 1oz.. The newspaper bags were...
I find that when trying to place the button holes near the edge of a light fabric this often happens.
I also have a zig-zag plate (slot, instead of a single hole for the needle) and that will make...
Yep, and of course you can always larkshead them together for extra length.
NO reason to decide, carry 2 different lengths. I hate making decisions and this way I am guaranteed to have made 1 good one every time :) .
For the record mine are 2 and 4 ft.
I also carry 2 10ft...
Thanks again everybody, that is an amazing place.
CountryRoads, good advice, I wish I had it before I left :).
It was chilly Wed night, my accurite read 36. I was glad I had the net to trap...
Thanks everybody. Looking forward to some cool evenings.
I just got the go ahead for my first trip to Dolly Sods. I'm heading out this week (Wed-Fri).
I need a bug report, has anyone been out there recently?
It looks like temps ~65/44 nearby.
Is it bug...

it is kinda one of those duh things. Hard to describe but really easy once you see it....
Just like RT notes, lots of good options for the hammock RL. I use 2.2mm LashIt. Many use 7/64 Amsteel, some use the 1.75 lashIt. The dynaglide works well too (just way too bright).
I like the...
Welcome and I look forward to seeing some pictures from your part of the world
Also look up catsplat's underquilt calculator, it will help with the design--sorry, don't have the link
And if you make your loop using a fishermans bend, you can size it to minimize the distance between the hook and cinch buckle, allowing you to utilize an even smaller hang space.
Lots of ways to outfit your son and all (most) of them will work well.
I would suggest starting simple (and cheap) with one of the dutch hammocks (or similar gathered end) and a separate bug net...
Hello and welcome.
2 quick tips that you have probably heard a dozen times already, but just in case.....

I'm note sure how SS does it, I'm sure he will be along later - But, I put my flyz on a prussik so I can slide it along that tie-out, and usually try to position it near the tree. If I keep it close...
Welcome from another MD'er. There is decent number of us lurking about here. You should start making plans for the fall MAHHA.
Oh, do you use it to help paddle back to your boat when you get dumped out on the Oswego River?
Tough question. I think you will find a wide range of answers. Some folks are fine without, some like a larger-full pillow and some like just a little bit under the neck.
I started wtih an...
As we are still waiting for version 2, I am curious if anybody ever tried a cylinder shaped Speed Hook. I was thinking ~ 1 inch long, 3/8 - 1/2" diameter, with a well chamfered hole at one end and a...
+1. Doing it right.....side sleeping on the diagonal.
Congratulations on your purchase. Those things are workhorses and mine makes 'better' straight stitches than my new machine.
You will want to check out - http://shop.sew-classic.com/
If you are worried about the prussik size thing, you can try the 1.2mm techline from DIYGS. To be honest, I can't tell it from the the 1.75. It should work better in theory.
Hello and welcome from MD.
There are lots and lots of options for your rigging, all with both good and bad points. I think you could do a lot worse than starting with a roll of ZingIt...

Welcome from up north (Maryland) :D
Hope to see you at spring MAHHA.
lots of dollar store (hair) clips to help manage the larger panels of fabric
it is just a regular fabric pencil in white. You can find them at fabric stores or order from amazon. it wipes off with a damp rag. Some of the brands are really brittle and seem to...
:crying you had me at .67 :crying
I'll take one and I'm in no rush.
PM me your paypal info for some $.
I blame the cat.
Just wondering if those holes line up... they seem to be grouped into 1 short tear and 1 long tear. Could something have damaged the fabric as it sat folded up - either in shipping or sitting out...
all items paid for, mods please close
Yes to this, the 1.75 line can do it all and do it well. You can even use the same size line to make prussik loops for the guylines.
Got it, thanks Xtrm and mussleman.
I’ve got some extra Dutchware items I’m not using that I think others could put to good use.

I built a 3/4 length UQ and I tapered mine (here)
I think the coverage is fine with the taper but I'm not sure how much weight or packed volume it really saved, which I think is the only reason to...
