11 foot (132") Hennesy Hex Tarp, which I thought would be fine, but seems to be JUST too long to use the hooks well

I was more trying to figure out how to get the ends tied out without going to one side or the other...the tarp is too long to use the hooks like my hammock is using, so I have to stake it down.

What about sewing through both layers to make the button hole? would that work as well?

Just a clarification, I already have the pack hooks on my DH, but wanted to know if adding Grosgrain loops on the quilt would work the same as cutting through to the suspension line and hooking that...

I bought some second hand UQs from EE, and want to do a Pack Hook Mod similar to what UGQ offers. Has anyone tried this on their own? Would just adding a grosgrain loop have the same effect?
