More specifically I'm looking for a Potomac or JRB Nest.
Thanks
The reflective pad is not included in the super shelter.
From hennessy's site:
"System includes UnderCover and UnderPad. OverCover is a separate accessory. Note: Radiant Bubble Pad is not...
If I get a chance over the next couple of days I'll set my hammock up with the typhoon and get a pic of it for ya.
(and if I remember to bring my camera home from work)
I actually have two...
One thing you may want to note: I found that the picture on the Hennessy site made it look taller than it is. They list the measurements, I'm not saying they are misleading anyone, but the angle that...
I have had nothing but quick replies and the very best of customer service from Hennessy.
I have one but I haven't had it poor weather yet though. It's not the largest of tarps with doors available out there but a good product for the money IMO.
I still do not mind the stock suspension, it may be a bit slower than some other styles but I have never considered camping/hiking a speed related event. I'll probably change to whoopies hen/if the...
I've used the "HH style knot" when the tree strap ends don't quite reach and had no issues.
My personal low record was from when I was still in Scouts. The second night of our weekend outing was -35c/-31f without the windchill factor (we were just in the trees on the coast of the Bay of...
Both really, except for rain splashing back up I figure it's got to help somewhat. The only downside to this, for me, is my bottom entry HH.
For winter hanging I'm using my "ground dwelling"...
Just wondering if there is any noticeable benefit to hanging closer to the ground in winter or windy conditions?
I'm thinking doing this, combined with a properly pitched tarp, would help keep the...
PM headed 'atcha
I have one but haven't had a chance to try it out in poor weather. It looks like it will work nicely though.
Also where as the doors are attached with velcro you can leave them behind and just use...
I have never had a bug bite through my single layer hennessy (I'm in New Brunswick)
We had a foot dumped on us last Wednesday but Saturday night it warmed up and all of the snow completely melted again. It has rained a lot since then and the temp is staying above freezing during the...
The term "seasonal sets".... it scares me a little.
I have my hammock set up in my man town (garage), but it's 15 degrees right now. I find it hard to use my laptop in it... which is as good a reason as any to get an ipad I guess.
We're built tough 'round here ;) ...and I'm in the market for an UQ
I like it, good job.
Sounds like a great project for your scouts. "Scout type skills" making "scout use" project
Anyone have one they'd like to sell?
Beautiful country side, great pictures.
It's probably the silicone that won't let the tape stick to it. I hadn't thought of that, but I guess it will work on some tarps.
Great vid! Thanks
Almost looks like a Christmas angel
Looks like it'll do the trick well enough though
You could trying running a piece of masking tape down either side of the seam. When it's nearly dry carefully remove the tape leaving nice straight edges. It's hard to explain but for best results...
Little bump for Sunday evening. If I don't get any interest I'll keep it I'm trying to convince my wife to get into hanging too anyway.
That's exactly what I would like to make. Thanks for the link. Great looking job too
A candle has been used in a quinzee with a snow floor for, well, longer than you and I have been around. You do need vents but I can't see a tarp getting set up tight enough to not allow fresh air...
Do you use one under your hammock?
If so what do you use?
Has anyone made one with a pocket to put your pack / shoes in? Well why not?
Could someone who voted for "other" type how they pronounce it? (sorry if I missed it in the previous posts) I'm interested in how else it is said.
I say it with a smile on my face and a gleam in my eye :woot:
but of course it is ham-mik
I'm sure someone knows the answer to what I'm wondering...
I'm wondering how one of these DIY gear supply pattern underquilts work with a bottom entry hennessy. I really like the simplicity and am...
I've spent most of my free time lately fiddling with gear, looking for gear, reading about gear, thinking about.... ok you get the picture (and understand my affliction too)
PM sent to you.
The only time I've seen raccoons come into a camp site wilderness camping was where someone had left food.
I would take whoopie slings, silnylon, IX,booties, gaiters, a stove, down hood, etc as full or partial trade.
Personally I plan to try using a UCO candle lantern under my tarp this winter to try to burn of condensation. I plan to dig out a space the same footprint as my tarp is pitched to make walls on three...
I like it, very simple yet effective.
I bought a monsoon tarp from the Odds & Ends sale but when it arrived it didn't have doors so I ordered a new one.
I set it up in my garage and it is in perfect shape just no doors. It is still...
Just saw this thread... I live very close to the Fundy Foot Path (less than an hour drive to either end and a couple mid points).
I plan to hike the trail next summer (you won't survive the river...
I plan to attempt an a-sym quilt for my HH bottom entry very soon. I have a couple of pretty well trashed sleeping bags here that I'll probably start with for pattern / proof of concept (I'm a hands...
Biggest problem I see is if the hammock rocks the ladder rocks, possibly bringing it all down. A purpose built tripod would work better.
Gee, sorry I asked. I do realize I can ship from the US, I have done so on many occasions. I'd really just prefer to spend money in Canada if I could is all.
Plus as far as cold weather type gear...
I'm looking to buy various outdoor gear located in Canada (to avoid surprise duty fees etc). Some things I'm looking for / may be interested in are: cold weather clothing, extra fabrics for misc diy...
I would be doing the same but I have a wedding to attend  It looks like it'll be a perfect night for you.
It has been pouring rain here for over 24 hours. The temp is 35-40 so it easily doable but the rain just sucks. Maybe next weekend...
My gear is scattered into various corners of my garage  I do have a cabinet that was for tools / bike parts but some gear have invaded it as well.
After looking at some of the pics posted...
Canadian here. If I, or most other people, were caught carrying a handgun that would be the end of camping for that weekend
