Lost Maples is two hours from New Braunfels.
I use the NeoAir in size small when tent camping. Works great for me and is light weight. If you are interested in the NeoAir, they are on clearance right now at backcountrygear.com...
If I remember right, I think they close the gate at 10:00pm. You might want to call and check. . .
Probably because of the time and effort it will take to do this.
I have both the Flash 18 and 22. They have about a 1/3 of the capacity of the ULA Ohm 2.0. They are great for a day or summit pack but you will need to have SUL type gear for any kind of overnight...
I think there was a thread about using a soft shackle a year or so ago this way. The individual had a problem getting the soft shackle undone while taking his hammock down. He ended up having to...
What is the weight limit on the Darien UL? I did not see it in the specs. . .

If you use trekking poles, you can use those as spreader bars. This is what my son and I do. We even hang from the same tree straps using Dutch's buckles.
I am in. Thanks!
Actually not as you can see from the following link on the TPWD website http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wild/birding/red_cockaded_woodpecker/
I believe the billboards at the LSHT trailheads...
Not sure you are allowed to have a campsite outside of the designated primitive campsites. . .
Were there many options for hanging a hammock at the primitive campsites?
There is a parking area in the vicinity of the park headquarters that you can park overnight. I have a pdf with a map of the park that I downloaded from some website (cannot remember which website)....
I tie a marlin spike hitch on my tree-hugger as close to the tree as I can get. Then, I use a biner to hook my tarp suspension to the marlin spike hitch. Farther down the tree-hugger, I have a...

My son and I hiked into this primitive campsite on Sunday after last year's hang. The campsite has some good trees for hammocks also a chemical toilet and water spigot.
When I use the asym tarp with my HH, I run the shock cords of the hammock to the stakes the tarp are tied to. This would eliminate the problem you were having.
I guess you will need to explain to me what was said then. Because when I read that post, it sure sounded like TH was being accused of "intellectual theft".
I was curious. Brandon is the individual who invented the double layer hammock?
My son and I use SR1355's method with using hiking poles as spreader bars. We have no problem with only one person sleeping in a hammock. No need for support bars going to the ground. . .
Fairfield Lake State park has a three mile hiking trail that leads to primitive campsites. There is water and bathroom available near the primitive campsites also. You can get more info here...

My son and I have used the method suggested by SR1355 in the link below. It works well. . .

If you use self-tensioning tie outs on the HH tarp, it solves the problem with the tarp going slack when you get into the hammock.
I cut mine with a cheap pencil soldering iron. It heat sealed both edges with a nice straight cut.
Please add my son and I to UncleMJM’s reservation list. We will be getting there Friday evening. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
