appears to be a polyester micro rip stop fabric w/ an acryliuc coatong on the back side.
Tought to tell without touchy feely, but that's what it looks like in the photos.

think you'll find the TQ infinitely adjustable intuitively.
Keep a cap/hat of some sort handy.
sil-nylon is highly flammable. That's why there are no tents made from it. Take care around any open flames.

Holy Smokies! Fantastic. We all knew you should win. Now we know you did! Congratulations.
try a search on ebay.
First, thanks to Bloomgorge for sending the tarp keys along.
The keys are light, and its easy to achieve a taut line. Initially I was a bit put off by the video as it looked pretty complicated. ...
gorgeous part of the country. I've spent some time there, but not enough. Thanks for the pictures.
if this happens to me, I'll be sure to hold onto the pieces. The maker will be able to tell a lot more with the physical evidence in hand, and there is the curiosity factor here where people want to...
2 questions:
What is the fabric weight?
Where are the Kammoks made?
Thought I'd sent a PM earlier, but since it was my first PM I screwed it up. Have resent & thanks very much.
How about some pics on all of these cool sounding re purposed skins?
If you still have a set of keys.....PM sent. Thanks

check my previous post on splicing hollow core. The fids make all the splicing very simple. Making the grip fids ...well the video will show how easy that is.

Jaxhiker,
you have the right source for the knitting needles & they are hollow, but try the 8" length. You can make two grip fids from each needle. I have not found them @ Joann's or any source...

Fabric weight/strength is dependent on numerous factors. Obviously there are the polyester vs. nylon fiber, but it goes way beyond that. Then there's yarn denier and weave strength/density. The type...

Treeslayer,
Sounds great. Looking forward to the pics.
I have at least two brothers on the forum (out of 7). We live in three different states (AZ, NC, NJ). Makes me wonder what other family groups we have????

Shane's guy lines are simple, length flexible, just about perfect.
Home Depot carries both twisted & braided mason line. Buy the braided. A bit more expensive, but you'll be much happier.
10 x 12 = 13 1/3 sq yds. Go crazy & add 10% for hems & grommets = 14 2/3 sq yds @ 1.9 oz per sq yd = 1 lb 12 oz. Can't see where they get the listed 2 lbs 9 oz unless that's shipping weight.
Plastic hand feel? Not breathable? Sounds like they sent you a PU coated fabric.
ENO fabric is just nylon taffeta- not coated.
you might try an inside layer of 1.9 oz taffeta, and keep your camo 1.1 outside. Just a thought.
check http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/apps/webstore/?page=2 chain link long is 10" as you describe. Ascender rings also available on this site
check out these grip fids. They're quite easy to make if you can find hollow knitting needles. The medium is good for 7/64th amsteel, and the small one works on 3 mm amsteel. They are made for...
fling it is made for arborists. Solid core is useful for the weight on the line. The name tells you what they use it for...
Has uses around the camp, but you can't splice it like a hollow core...
So now you are prepared. Get out there and go where no man has gone before!
open your hand in your best Spock Vulcan sign. Wind your line in a figure 8 around your fingers. wrap the last 10" or so & tuck the end under. No matter what line you use...no tangles. And no...

Sarge,
Try Junction Tube.
Love the idea of it.
I would ask the ebay seller about the country of origin.
Price is great, but as Shadow Alpha said, you may not want the feathers. Guess it depends on your end use.

Check out Thaw Corp. Back in the day (1990's) they had something to do w/ REI. Think they were a subsidiary making down outerwearI. No idea what they're doing these days.

That's why I always check around on any campsite I come across on the trail for any gear left behind. I leave them too often, but I also find them more often than you'd think.

I know I'm echoing many other posts, but just have to applaud this innovation.
Brilliant! Well done.
People have rightly applauded Brandon's honesty. Others have expressed an understanding of the forces on Brandon & all the other "cottage" industry suppliers in our little community.
But when I...
Any reasonably sharp pair of scissors will work. But not as you would normally use them. Open the scissor blades about a half inch, then pull the braid across the notch. There is a safety knife...
raise your expectations
I have one attached to the end of my tree huggers. Then a simple 2mm dyneema line attached to the tarp, pull to the tree hugger, wrap & done.
eye splice the rope, then loop the webbing through the eye splice.
