I'll hit 30 years in September, and still going. AL ARNG SF. Taken off in far more aircraft than I've landed in, and seen enough of other parts of the world to really appreciate what we have here.
I used a 15" continuous loop through the channels (doubling the thickness), then hook both ends of each loop onto Dutch's whoopie hooks (spliced to the suspension). I've had no issues at all with...
I've been using (stealing) my wife's / daughter's pony tail holders for some time now, just for that purpose. They're just cloth covered rubber bands.
Wish I'd seen this before now ..... I've got a sweet Arcteryx Bora 95, the older version, Canadian built pack that I absolutely love! On the heavy side at 7 lbs. empty, but carries oh so...
"This place is a geographical oddity... 2 weeks from any where!" (Oh brother, where art thou)
And from Anniston, welcome!
Ain't that bad on the suspension?
Welcome from up off the ground in Anniston, AL!
Welcome from Anniston!
Welcome from somewhere west of you!
My banjo is pretty heavy, otherwise.......
An army poncho liner is light enough and works well. The differential is what makes the difference - with the humidity that we'uns suffer, and 95 degree days, 70 at night can feel cool.
Yep, roots and rocks are definitely 'grounds' for hanging!
Another 'Bama welcome here. I just spent a little time with a few other HF members at the Cheaha hang (I could only stay Fri. night) -...
I had a great time, met some fine folks, even though I only got Friday night there (work Sat.). Looking forward to the fall hang, when I'll hopefully be able to spend more time in such great company!
Me too, around 5 or so. Will there be enough trees, ya think?
I've just had the 30th anniversary of my 22nd birthday, so I'm in that demographic!
I'll be there
Welcome from Anniston ... we're in each other's backyards! I second aboyd, try to make the Cheaha hang. It'll be my first with this group.
I would think that the majority of Alabamians have said 'ya'll' at least a couple of times, hmmm?
A hearty, robust welcome from Anniston!
I'd like to be there, and I'll try. Got our annual App. trail section hike the 25th - 30th, so may just be able to make the 1st night. like to meet some of y'all!
Welcome from Anniston! You'll like it here!
Hi, and welcome from NE AL! I'm in Smyrna, TN at present, and will be for 2 more weeks. Do you hike around here? If so, where?
I'm happy with my NA setup, but just saw these on eBay, and thought you'd like to know.... A North American for $100 start bid, and a Tropical for $199 start! Let the bidding begin (BTW, I...
Welcome from Anniston AL!
Welcome from NE AL!
Welcome from 'bama!
Enjoy a safe, well deserved break! From my family to yours, have a Very Merry Christmas!
That's great news! Many of us have seen God's hand at work. Stay strong and continue the fight, many prayers your way!
Add another 'Welcome' to your list, this one from Anniston!
It's here, it's here, my new Dutchware's here! Ohboyohboyohboy!
Thanks again Dutch et al
Just checked tracking, and my newest Dutch goodies are IN TOWN, and will be in my mailbox today (what day is this? Dutch day, Woot Woot!). I'm like a kid at Christmas ...wait, I AM a 50+ kid at...
Welcome from a temporarily non-hanging Annistonian! When I recover from lumbar fusion (May-ish), I'll get back on the Pinhoti, if you care to hang out!
And a hearty welcome from NE AL!
Welcome from Anniston!
Welcome from Anniston! You will certainly enjoy these boards as I have...tons of info and ideas. I'd invite you to join me on a trip, but it'll be about 6 months for me - I've just had L4 & L5 fused...
Congratulations! Angie and I will celebrate our 26th also this month. People often ask what it takes to be married so long. I tell them 'It takes patience, tolerance, and compromise ... and Angie's...
So sorry for your loss. I lost my much loved father- in-law in Sept.; his wife of 62 years was seriously injured in the same accident, may live out her days in rehab.
That's a beautiful place, and...
I'll take it. Thx
If no trade with dblhmmck, I'll take it.
Am interested. PM sent
Last March on the A.T. (NOBO starting at Deep Gap, NC; plan was to go to Wayah Bald); forecast was lows in 20's, highs in 40's, light precip for 1st 2 days. Out of nowhere comes a severe winter...
Unfortunately, I've had something come up, and won't be able to make this one. You guys have fun, and I'll try to catch the next one.
Then there's always 'That guy' who fails to check for dead branches above, then wakes up everybody else when he starts whining after one falls on him in the night!
Sounds great! Late Sept. those Chinnabee waterfowl (mosquitoes) are done for the year!
I'm a 'figure 8-R' too, and I've found that my wife's elastic hair bands (cloth covered) work great for securing those hanks - cheap too! No need to do that too much anymore though, as I'm using...
Got my 1st Dutch order today, WOO HOO! Wish I'd ordered a couple o' those, couple more o' these, one of them others, etc.! I feel an addiction coming on.
(BTW Clankbang, I'm about an hour from you).
