Alternatively, if you get enough people to sign up, book the group camping site. With 5-6 people or more, I believe you'd qualify as an "organized group" and can book that site for the weekend, and...
Also, by "removed by property staff" one may reasonably infer "cut down and destroyed/damaged/confiscated"; so I would definitely recommend a certain amount of caveat emptor when stealth camping.
Wow, really? It's definitely been a while since I've been there, then. When did they change that?
Not that it matters - their park, their rules.
I don't know about renting hammock gear; but if we get some folks together for a hang, there's plenty of us with extra hammocks and such that will be more than happy to bring gear to let you borrow...
Asher and I will be there!
Sans the faceplanting this time, one hopes.
Hey, I know that reference!
For all of the reasons I would not recommend co-sleeping with an infant in a bed, plus the additional risks of hammocking, I strongly recommend against this practice.
In my professional opinion.
It's important to note that the study cited by this article refers specifically to the risk for exposure to agrochemicals including permethrin to individuals with the SNCA-A53T mutation, one of 6...
Actually had a Cricket in my cart when this Kickstarter came up. Less money, two hammocks, AND fits my longer hammocks and my bridge? WIN!
Now I'm just sad I won't have it in time for MAHHA ... ...
I was very sad to let my Wilderness Logics tarp go when I did; I never really used it anymore, but I had great memories of Marty every time I took it out. I’m gonna take this tarp for that reason...
I'll take all if still available
Taken by ScottS - Sorry Jakev383 - he came in with a PM at 16:07, and I did say PM for first come first served. Closing thread.
I have two sheets of Thermoflect material - the stuff used in ORs as part of rewarming systems post operatively. Has a blue side and a silver side - says "Do Not Use In MRI" on the silver side....
I've had to bail on the last two hangs I've planned to attend - but pencil me in for this. I'm putting in my request - hopefully we've got some staff relief on the horizon. 26 shifts every 28 days is...
I really wanted to make this one, as did Asher. Sadly, we will not be able to come.
Maybe for the Spring!
Sadly, I will not be able to come. I now have to work all weekend, thanks to the BA.5 variant.
:scared: Yeeeah. I probably would ditch the UQ at that, too.
I've never camped in temps that hot - and I did summer Scout camp in Central Florida. Man.
I can see the next Kickstarter now - the latest in backcountry luxury ... the Hammock Bathtub! Hygiene and comfort all in one! With a mesh ridgeline soap holder!
Would need serious heavy-duty...
+1 for this comment. I use a 0 degree UQ year round and I've forgotten to "vent" more than once and not had a problem. It's your TQ and whatever base layers you're wearing (or not) in the hammock...
Sounds great!
That sounds just about perfect. May need to block out a bit of time Tuesday at Skannatati at the car - I've got a short unfortunate work project thing I'm going to have to take care of that cannot...
Well, they aren't wrong -
But it's the right kind of crazy.
Man - Shining Rock Wilderness! Was just talking about that hike at the TrailHeadz hang! If I were closer ... and in a LOT better condition ...
I think I still have the scars from the last...
As you may have guessed - Shug has a video for that.

10 miles more or less sounds about perfect - nice and leisurely.
Sounds great! I'm open to suggestions regarding route planning - there's tons of great options in Harriman, though I'm leaning towards the 'moderate to easy' on the challenge slope. Still working on...
Ten minutes after I posted this I get a notification that they were delivered. That was incredibly fast - I ordered them on Friday. Guess I'll be trying them out this week! I should post pics, no?
I'll go a +1 on SLD - it's an amazingly comfortable hammock. I can't weigh in on the Dream Hammock because I haven't owned one ... yet. (The acquisition disorder is real!) But I'll also add that the...
Fugal buttons on the way for me - I don't want to mess up my pretty new bonded tarp
20-23 would work for me - I am back to work the 24th. I'm technically at work right now (on lunch and fortunately not much happening at the moment) but a Harriman loop would be fun next week since...
I've got a few days off in a row coming up this next week, and I'm interested in doing a short and easy trip in the immediate vicinity of home (willing to do some traveling and maybe some...
Hmm. This could be the inspiration for another vintage hammock contest for the handy DIYers among us*. Those are definitely intriguing, though certainly not in the "highly portable" or "ultralight"...
PM me if you'd be interested in setting a meetup point and sharing gas/expenses - I'm coming out of the Southern Catskills area of NY about an hour and a half north of NYC, so it might be a doable...
Man, wish I had one of those labels in any of my Incubators. Still great quality gear, even without those labels.
For the folks who weren't here when StormCrow started off his first site as...
Quote didn't thread: reposting
Maybe something like this - would need to do some tweaking on your ridgeline or maybe run dual internal ridgelines under your tarp - and add some weights to the bottom hem, but seems like the general...
I'm going to have to differ a bit here - I find that width is as important if not more than length, or at least there's an intersection at which there's a "sweet spot" for the taller/bigger person....
The gathering and shedding of gear never stops, in my experience.
More gathering than shedding lately ...
Welcome to the addiction - er, forum!
Any quilt that works for a gathered end hammock will work with the WBBB XLC. Brandon and company have designed a full-length quilt specifically to fit on the XLC, the Traveller, and the Eldorado -...
Plan on daytime temps in the low to mid 80's and nighttime temps in the mid to possibly low 50's. Possibly cooler if it rains. Last year was really nice weather, but muddy conditions.
Darn it. I've got call that whole weekend. I think the commute to the lower Catskills is a bit too long if I get paged.

Here's Shug. There's others out there - but Shug is probably the go-to resource for all things hammock camping - or at least your first stop.
Welcome from the lower Catskills - downstate for everyone else in NY state, upstate for all those folks in NYC for whom everything north of the Bronx is upstate lol! I actually used to live in the...
I will be there! And I'm already planning my dishes! Mwahahahahaha!!!
Asher and I will be there. And I'll bring the Dutch Ovens, so something yummy will be cooking on the coals.
Sadly, due to a change in circumstance and the needs of my hospital, I will not be thru-hiking this year. Some of you already saw me at MAHHA, so you know. I'm planning to bag some sections this year...
No - I may not have been clear. I have several HG quilts which came with S-biners. I got the Lynx, and it came with the same S-biners that I have with the HammockGear quilts (of which I own several),...
This isn't that old of a Lynx - I didn't get the RR all that long ago. I've been a gathered-end hammocker for the decade-plus I've been doing this crazy sleeping in the air thing; just pulled the...
I agree with all of the above. I will say that the plastic S-biners that Brandon supplies are another point of potential failure; both my head end S-biners failed catastrophically on this last...
