Guess I'm a little late, but just saw this! Haha, thanks, Karla "with a k"!
What's wrong with your bike?
It wouldn't rely on the strength of the walls, because the load would be on the 2x4 uprights and ridgepole. The ridgepole would prevent the weaksauce trailer from folding in on itself. It's a...
I use an old "rigger's packback" called the Mountain Hardwear Splitter Crag Pack (1st gen). It has loops to hang carabiners and amsteel, while also having special large pockets for the hammock and...
I'm thinking about hanging my hammock inside my cargo trailer. Possibly just two 2x4's for the ends, bolted to the walls, and then a long ridge-pole from there. Like a turtle-dog stand, without the...
How much does it cost to hang in Hocking Hills?
Glen Helen, is adjacent to John Bryan, and that might be a better spot for stealth hanging. Both very close to Fairborn. Let me know if you find a good spot.

Thanks for your answer, krshome. I'm afraid it's a bit too late to follow your good advice. I needed to get something and there wasn't time to locate other hangers willing to "share their beds"...
By "firmer hammock body", do you mean thicker material? Or something like polyester, which doesn't stretch as much as nylon, making it feel more firm? Double layer?
I'm thinking about 72" width...
Could you elaborate on why the shorter hammock worked better for you? 6'2" is pretty tall. I don't have experience with different lengths, but most everything I've read says the longer the better.
Thanks for clarifying, Alamosa, although this link from Wikipedia says, "When it does capsize into a traditional noose it can jam against the rod, making it much more difficult to release.
I do...
Could someone provide a link or image of this "undesirable capsized form" of the Marlin Spike Hitch? I don't understand how it happens or what it is, and I've read a few comments that this is...
 I realize the OP already responded to this, but he was being modest. The OP wrote THE book on hammocks.
I know I'm hooked now, because last night I dreamt of Dutch! I didn't officially meet him in my dream, but he was being chauffeured by a woman in a pimped-out, mad-max station wagon with a...
Exactly. I prised it open, and hammered down.
Wait, I mean I magick'd them on, like Houdini or something :) (Hppyfngy).
:D You went all biblical on me there! So are Just-Jeff and Shug our version of Adam and Eve?
Which one tasted the forbidden fruit in the Garden?
gmcttr also offered this advice, over on the TurtleDog Thread, but I gave up trying to add segmentation, after my failed efforts. It seemed to put all the stress on the connection point of the...
Funny thing is, I didn't realize I was scared. It was subconscious (from previous falls - never asleep), just an underlying tension, that kept me on edge and unable to fall asleep. Many nights,...
I hope my avatar didn't disappoint you, while still living up to the name :D Just DON'T GOOGLE it!
I ordered a double layer 2.6 ounce poly-taffeta 11 footer from dreamhammocks. The website says that combination is rated to 500 lbs. A little heavier than the light-weights, but I'm no spring...
I've been obsessed with the idea of hanging for nearly three years. Ever since Shug's videos introduced me to the wonderful world of suspension and tarps. I made my own, to see if I could fall...
I have one DIY and just ordered a "real" one. How does this hammock buying obsession start? What compels someone to need so many? I'm just trying to understand. I know variety is the spice of...
You're right. I failed miserably in my attempt to segment with the regular nuts, so I gave up.
Archy88, your camper looks about the same size as your hammock now!
I just ordered a double layer 2.6 oz, 11 foot hammock, so I don't think 4 oz is heavy at all. You should end up with a very strong hammock, considering the one I ordered is rated for 500 lbs!
OldDog, you didn't offend me - it was my own misunderstanding and confusion that I offended myself, without any help! Thank you for being so patient with my unnecessary drama!
Thank...
I am a noob, so I went with a 12 foot ridgeline for my tarp (144"), but now I'm wondering if that is too long for an 11-foot hammock (110" SRL) - since the longer ridgeline of the tarp will make it...
Sweet, because I secretly wanted that number for the Gangsta Rap/Homicide Code references. You're a good guy, hppyfngy - so I copied off of your signature (stand instructions). Imitation is the...
Thank you, OldDog. I just realized I didn't use your hinge idea in my variation of TurtleLady's tripod stand. I was confused by the different names of the different construction techniques. Much...
Thanks, Hppyfngy :) But now I understand how my stand doesn't incorporate any of OldDog's design, since his contribution was only adding the hinges to TurtleLady's original design. I got confused -...
I'm not sure how my ridgepole between two tripods is a totally new idea, considering this list is composed of both your hinge design, as well as TurtleLady's traditional tripod lashing.
I'm...
Would sticks or poles help get your tarp pitched more taut? How much extra rope do you carry, to not use sticks? What are the trade-offs?
Just add one more single tripod, and two ridge-poles for hanging three hammocks in a triangle, like in silvertitan's picture (his only shows two, but you get the idea):

Sure, it weighs exactly 25 lbs and 5 ounces, with all four carabiners, and two Amsteel™ Nacrabiners™ (without hammock). *Weighed with Park Tool DS-1 digital hanging scale*
It is very feasible to...
I used 8 eyebolts and 3/4" conduit (no welding - a perfect press-fit). The eye-bolts took the place of tripod-lashing, hinge-hardware, through-bolts arranged in a "T", welding, or drilling any...
Oh, sorry, JeffD, I forgot to mention that part. I don't have a vice, so I took one of the 3' foot sections of the conduit that I cut from the tripod poles, as my "cheater bar". I didn't damage...
I did an all 3/4" conduit version, using 8 eye-bolts, instead of tripod-lashing, or hinge-hardware, or through-bolts arranged in a "T", or drilling any holes: ...
Here's mine: TurtleDog stand - version #187: 8 eyebolts and 3/4 conduit, no drilling or lashing
Will the larger Figure 9 work with Amsteel, or is it too slippery? I'm wonderin if it will hold, and if the teeth with damage Amsteel.
It would be interesting to see the pictures of damage from tiny cords. I was impatient about waiting for my 1.75mm (TINY) tarp ridgeline to arrive in the mail, so I grabbed some 3/8" bright yellow...
I thought so too. Is the WBBB's ridgeline structual how it comes or is it like shockcord or something?
Aw, man, that's horrible! My tarp doesn't have any webbing down the center seam, so I wonder if I should be careful.
Someone stole Alamosa's "boom stake" idea and they're available here: BOOM STAKES

I just ordered a Dutch StingerZ™, a Dutch Carabiner and 50 feet of Zing-It. It took a lot of pondering, but I went with the dual "V" and full continuous ridge line set-up. It's the same as this...
I apologize. I have issues. I got embarrassed about being on camera in front of the whole internet, and didn't think those videos were very professional.
I still want to hang though. Sorry I...
I am wondering the same thing, so I'm subscribing to this thread for more info. I don't want to give up the "V" for the hammock susp. to hang clear, so your "bass string" method is tight, but why...
I've been using my homemade hammock for a few years now, but FINALLY bit the bullet and bought a proper kit! Was making my own a waste of money? Sort of . . .
I'll still use it, maybe for a...
Was there plenty of room for two hammocks under that palace? Did you do bunk-style or side-by-side? (I couldn't tell from the pictures)
Thank you for your answer. I notice "camo" is available as well as "multicam" on your site, but I can't find any pictures showing the difference.
Maybe you can direct me to pictures of regular...
