I'll take the JRB Shenandoah long!
Ditto for Pappa Smurf at Dream Hammocks and for Dave at underquilts.com.
Ditto. My LeighLo works great on my 11' DangerBird. These UQs are not available now, but most of the cottage folks should be able to fix you up.
Welcome from the Piney Woods of East Texas. I had a similar experience as yourself in terms of the bugs, and I hope to never be on the ground again.
I am a little shorter than you, and I love my Dream Hammock Dangerbird. I have slept in it about seven nights and I get a flat lay with little stretch on the double layer model. Contact Papa Smurf...
I found a pack of 10 of these snap buttons on Zoro tools (part number G3446091), and they were $9.98 including shipping:

They are a little more...
Welcome from Deep East Texas.
Paitently waiting on USPS, any day now. There is nothing like a nice warm UQ on a steamy hot Texas night.
Mine is in USPS land too. After FlyChuker's endorsement, I am getting more antsy!
Please count my hat in the ring! Thanks for the generosity.
Welcome from East Texas!
I own a GT SBP, and I would not try that. The net does not drape off a structural ridge line, so at best the netting would hang loose underneath, or at worst tear if you tied it tighter. The hammock...
Congrats Fly-chucked. Let us know how it works out for you.
I am 6'4" and about 280 lbs, and my dbl layer taffeta Dream Hammock DangerBird has almost no stretch, just like Pappa Smurf said. It is a very comfortable hammock for me. I recommend contacting him...
Congratulations, your month long wait is almost over for your DangerBird. Speaking as number 373, I can definately say that the wait is worth it!
I do not think that you will be disappointed at all. I'm loving my DangerBird so far. It is very comfortable and the craftsmanship is top notch. It was worth the wait.
Welcome from East Texas!
And LeighLo is liquidating her inventory with really low prices right now, though she is selling out fast.
Based on the great reviews here and the clearance price, I ordered a UQ from her last week. Now comes the hard part, patiently waiting.
I just pulled the trigger on one of those myself. It is too good of a deal to pass on, especially with free shipping. Thanks for the heads up.
The GT Skeeter Beater Pro is a good starter hammock. The suspension it comes with is worse than worthless. It broke with my 120 lb daughter hanging in it! Thankfully there were no injuries. It...
Hello from East Texas. You've definitely come to the right place to learn about the thrills of hammocking.
Howdy from behind the pine curtain in Texas. This is an excellent resource for learning about hammocks and hammock camping.
This was too good of a deal to pass up. There are only a hand full of UQs and TQs left at this price. I pulled the trigger on an UQ, and was seriously eyeing the matching TQ, but my accountant...
Just pulled the trigger on the last 48" 30* in all green. I'm really looking forward to the UQ. I've read many good things about these quilts, and the price is certainly right.
Best wishes in...
You are studying in a great field with lots of future opportunity as all of the folks who graduated in the 1970s getting ready to retire. Keep your focus. Remember, about 10% more studying is the...
What an amazingly beautiful place to share with your son. The rule of thumb is that whatever sons get interested in before they get seriously interested in girls will stick with them for life.
Payment send on the fly rod combo.
Is the fly rod still available? If so, I'll take it.
Welcome from the Piney Woods of East Texas. I had the same problem with the GT Skeeter Beater, namely, mosquito bite-through the under fabric. It is a comfortable hammock. Try the permethrin.

I tested the double-bubble last night. I inserted it between the layers of my Dream Hammock DangerBird. It worked great, no CBS for me. Lows were in the mid 40s.
One caveat, I sleep...
I find that the quinine in tonic water knocks the cramps out instantly until my body can absorb the needed potassium and minerals from a supplement.
We have some tough mosquitoes here in deep East Texas. One bright side is that you can slap one of your camping buddies upside the head when he gets obnoxious and holler, "mosquito"! You have to be...
Welcome from Deep East Texas!
I'm looking forward to seeing your latest designs!
Welcome form Texas!
Sounds like a great trip. I would be in, but unfortunately I have to be in Yellowstone that week. Bummer to miss the good old Texas heat.
Welcome from East Texas!
This forum really is a great resource. Every time I come up with a question, I do a search and find 100s of posts on that topic. This place is like the Wikkepedia of...
Congrats on ordering the new gear. I know what you mean about the wait, but hearing all of the positive feedback about Dream Hammocks helps make the wait worth it. I'm #373, and hope to have it in...
Welcome! I had the same problem with back problems and camping. I've taken my SkeeterBeater on two trips now and loved every minute of it. This is a great forum with an amazing amount of info on...
Ditto on the customer service. I'm 373 and anxiously await my DangerBird. I also considered the Blackbird, and I know it is a great hammock, but I really like how Pappa Smurf can customize a...
Welcome from East Texas. It is encouraging to see how many Texas hangers there are on this forum.
I'm glad to hear Red Hills Lake is reopening. It is a great camping and swimming spot and I can't, wait to hang there. It seems like all of the best USFS spots have been closed way too on here in...
Great idea on how to store a hammock out of the way. Thanks for the video.
Semiuseless, My favorite USFS campgrounds are Boykin Springs and Boutin Lake, in the Angelina NF south of Lufkin. You can swing over the creek below the lake at Boykin Springs. There is nothing on...
Thanks EastTex. My first exposure to an attempt at hammock camping was just south of where you are in Liberty, in the Trinity delta in the old Wallisville Reservoir site. A rather large friend hung...
And another big howdy from behind the pine curtain in East Texas!
Congrats on the new gear, great post. I see why they write "Do Not Cut" in big letters on the box. I tend to cut first and regret later.
Thanks for the welcomes.
Sargevining - I think I know what you mean by the "second harvest" hikes. I hiked an old familiar trail with the kids Saturday, and my legs and knees are still...
Congrats on the new DangerBird. I'm glad to hear that it is such a great hammock. I'm 373 and I can't wait to try it out for myself.
