Nice piece of ultralight gear here, never pitched in the field. This is the previous version in blue, includes mesh stuff sack. Works as a waterproof/breathable poncho, pack cover, emergency...
All yours Octo! please PM me for payment info.
Gotta let this kit go...
Old school Heineken pot with lid and Minibull Designs double wall stove. 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in 6 mins (indoor test).
Pot w/lid - 1.5oz
Stove - 1oz (I...
Rambo,
Are you still looking? I have an ENO double to unload. It's already rigged up with whoopies and a ridgeline. I'll throw in tree straps, toggles and a bugnet too. Let me know if you're...
Mikej, I have a MacCat Deluxe I can part with.
I'd recommend the adjustable webbing for outright simplicity. Add two dutch clips or 'biners and you're golden.
I've nearly gagged from driving past a moose with the window down. That would be my guess.
Get on their mailing list. A couple times a year they dump old inventory and you can get TQs for 50% or more off.
Great report and pictures ninja; a lot of those Yellowstone spots sure do look familiar!
Just a friendly reminder, the saying around here is HYOH. I've met and hung with plenty of other folks who...
I'll have an extra along with me when I hit the 'Bud in early Sept. Sure are welcome to borrow it if needed.
Love me some Grizzly! And the Cowboy up in Fishtail, too, but not as much for the food as the gorgeous bartender, Brenda. And lucky you for knowing someone with a place back up there.
Well if...
Not at all! Apart from the bouts of rain on Friday, weather was perfect, there was a near constant breeze up on the mountain, and nights were clear enough for shooting stars during each night's main...
Hey...I've been trying to add The Beaten Path to my annual pilgrimage for the last few years but the timing/logistics just never work out. This was going to be the year but a buddy of mine decided...
Just back from a terrific weekend of music and hanging outside of Floyd, VA. It was my very first FloydFest and it was a dandy. It was great to see dozens and dozens of other hangers out there in...
I seem to recall seeing on here somewhere how someone fashioned a dog hammock that hung below their human hammock, gear hammock-style. Might be worth a try but, again, 65# seems pretty big for any...
Rev, you just about covered it all, and then deadphhans dialed it right in; was looking for another hobby, too!
Great report and pics ofuros; thanks for posting! Nice brownies, too! Australia doesn't get nearly the same amount of angling press as your Kiwi neighbors. Sure would love to make it down there...
Naw, strictly catch and release this year.
Hey gang, I’ve been away from the forums for a while but wanted to post my vacation Trip Report. Returned from my annual Montana pilgrimage a few weeks ago and have just been two dang busy to post a...
Absolutely stunning! Thanks for the terrific report.
Congrats on the new rig; worth the wait, wasn't it? Don't forget to seam seal those superfly tieouts!
Imagine what heaven would be like...if you were some dude's foot in a hammock.
Welcome from just down the road in Arlington, Chris. Really looking forward to checking out your website there; kayak flyfishing seems likely to be the next hobby I'll tackle.
I can nap sans pillow, but for a deep overnight sleep I love my down pillow from Black Rock Gear. Only 2 ounces, packs wicked small, and it has a mitten hook for suspending from your ridgeline so it...
My 60lb husky sleeps on her backpacking pad directly beneath me. I pack a corkscrew stake with a 15ft lead so she doesn't wander in the night. The only problems arise when she gets up in the middle...
+1
Sounds like the 1.1 Double is your best bet. Georgia seems like it could be a buggy place, all the more reason to get an integrated net. The net can be tied back easily if it is not needed....
Above All Others.
I think that qualifies as an Extreme Hang...
PM sent on Traveler.
Or you can go straight to the source. They have all kinds of cool little gadgets and helpers. Figure 9s, S-biners, 'biner bottle openers, just to name a few. I like their rubber gear tie thingies...
Finally got a chance to get out and test the new HexaLite CTF3 cuben tarp from Lawson Equipment last weekend while doing some trail work in Shenandoah NP. HF member crackedup did a terrific review...
Thanks for the post and great pics; glad you're out there hanging Hairball!
Mighty fine looking whoopie slings, too! ;)
I'm a big fan Lawson! Goes quite well with the new CTF3 tarp and Linelocs. I did notice a slight reduction in tarp tautness when I awoke under it during this weekend's maiden trip, so I'm assuming...
Another full-timer here. My go-to home hammock is an old ENO double strung up in the living room, though sometimes I hang the Brazilian I got from a street vendor down there a few years ago. My bed...
Congrats on your purchase, and I hope it gets to you on the bottom of the planet in a hurry. From experience I can tell you that the wait between 'Pay Now' at Warbonnet and receipt of package is...
+1 on everything crackedup said. Just got mine this week; not only did Lawson make a fantastic piece of gear, he went above and beyond to make sure I had it in time for my trip. All I can add to...
Totally just pilfered one from the office supply cabinet. I'm a horrible person.
A horrible person with an awesome new tent stake bag.
You got that right!
As usual...friendly, fantastic advice all around.
+1 on the CRL from whoopieslings.com. After one or two practice tries, it really makes hanging a tarp incredibly simple. It sure did for this...
Wilderness Logics has a net comparable in weight, size, and cost to the Warbonnet net with a slightly different zipper configuration.
Good stuff Hairball! Welcome to the hammock crack den. Whoopies are on their way...
Welcome Charlie. Ask 100 questions and you are sure to get 1000 answers here, all of them correct.
Yeah, what ^they^ all said.
(+...do hereby pledge allegiance to the frat....)
I paid beaucoup bucks for a locked storage room in my building just so I'd have ample storage space out of the way for my gear. Since I spend so much free time tinkering and fiddling with all of my...
PM sent re: spare Grizz Beak.
Just received mine from the OP today. Fast delivery across the country and he did a fantastic job removing the lids...very smooth edges! Get 'em while the gettin's good folks!
Whoopie slings! PM me if you're interested and I can send you some I've got lying around in my gear hoarding pile. Get yourself some tree straps and toggles and hang away!
Grand Trunk double is on sale at REI.com outlet for only $35. Tough to beat that for jumping in to test the waters. Nice keeper once you upgrade to boot.
Welcome! Wow, what a beautiful place to go backpacking...did a little there myself pre-hammock. Please remember that, as the saying here goes, pics or it didn't happen!

Those comments are great! Probably some HFers...
