I'll take the Bushcraft if it's still available
I spend a lot of time in the blowing rain up in the PNW. I've been using my Oware flat tarp for years now with my HH. Like others have said, run a Zing it line separately for the tarp and I use a...
Got back Sunday from leading 9 Boy Scouts and 2 other adults in a kayak trip around Fidalgo Island, WA. Everyone was hanging.
Quick location notes:
Hope Island: Plenty of trees. You can hang...
Looking for a Handy Hammock but can't really wait the 3 weeks (give or take) that ordering a new one from the UK would take.
Anyone have one in N.A. that they want to get rid of?
awesome, thanks
She doesn't do much now. Will have to look up the sewing machine. I have a couple of things on my plate to fix: making some dry bags (involves sewing small webbing for the clasp) and fixing a...
Wife wants a new, tough thread injector (since I basically busted the antique trying to sew webbing). Any suggestions for something that could handle canvas, webbing, etc for about $150 or less on...
If for some reason there's someone ordering a new Hennessy that doesn't want the Cub as part of this deal, I'd be glad to buy the Cub off of them.
I've got twins that need to move up to better...
I picked up my 0* underquilt last year for Black Friday. Hoping to get a 0* top-quilt this year.
Just did my last year of Cub Scout Camp (taking a break from Boy Scout Camp this year) at Camp Brinkley in WA. Hammocked of course.
I've found that a hammock is a pretty exotic, adventurous thing...
Most of the guys that have been in the troop a year are hanging now. We just took two groups to do a 50-miler sea kayaking to Ross Lake; everyone was in the trees. We were looking at building our...
I've been handing out my Grand Trunk Ultralights for Scouts to try first. It's my starter drug. :)
From there, most seem to be going with Hennessey Scouts. A few have gotten their own Grand...
As another hanger up in the PNW I'd suggest trying the stock for a time or two. If after a few times you have to tie and untie the suspension to tweak it, you might see the benefits of something...
I usually have it high enough to keep the UQ dry from rain splatter. Tends to be chair high or a little higher.
Will be taking Boy Scouts to Mt. Rainier that weekend. Dang
sorry, where and when is the hang?
Brilliant. Off to get a scrubbie.
As for the question of going to a winter tarp; no, I live up in the PaNW and have long ago gone to a separate tarp from hammock setup to stay dry in setting up...
Anyone have some snakeskins they are looking to get rid of? I have a set for my hammock, now looking for a pair for my tarp.
Wanted to check here first .
Personally, I keep the ridge line pretty taut (if not tight). With this and keeping my feet about 6 inches higher I get a pretty consistent hang.
I've gone with using the tie-outs and recently as the temperature drops I've not been looping the UQ through the tie-outs. I think I'm getting a better seal. Will switch it up next month and try...
If anyone has a new-ish Patagonia Houdinia (women's) in XS or S (last year's style is fine) for about $65, let me know.
I just got one and my wife now wants one.
What fabric, what color?
Slept in a GT UL for about 6-9 months of camping (15 nights or so). Worked great until it started getting colder (Nov-Dec).
Just get a closed foam pad to put underneath you (and maybe a short...
I'm in the same part of the country, about the same size and weight 5'8" 180lbs and I use the UL Backpacker. Haven't used the other two to compare but my total pack weight for my last trip was 18lbs...
I'd guess 5 ft. Just a guess.
I've got a 32* Men's down sleeping bag I just paid to have professionally cleaned (by a guy that makes down comforters, etc).
I'd be willing to trade.
If you like I can take some pictures and...
I'll take it if still available.
Gotta agree that you should also consider the 1+season. I have had mine down into the 30's twice now and been comfy.
Anyone have a clue if this thing would fit in a GoLite Jam 50? I'm sure it would be uncomfortable but if someone would vouch for it fitting, I might be interested.
You might want to check out GoLite. A 1+ season (basically 40*) is around $100 with a coupon.
Ok, not long after posting this I went and got one of the GoLite 1+ seasons on sale with a coupon. Willing to try that out to see how it's going to work.
Update: got it cleaned and some loft came back. Tested it and worked for a high 30 night.
In weighing it today, I realize that it's currently 2lb 3oz. My new goal to is to try and halve the...
Wanting to get something about 1.5 lbs or less.
Was too slow for the GoLite sale. Any advice or well loved topquilt looking for a new home would be appreciated.
After about 5 or 6 hangs in the HHSS (in the 30's to mid 20's) I just couldn't get it dialed in. Opted for a Hammock Gear custom UQ (40*, 2 ounce overfill, full length with H50 fabric). My first...
Yeah, I'd try this idea. Is there a way to attach smaller poles off the bike up at an angle. Less to carry, etc.
I might have an older one if you didn't get one yet.
Awesome, thanks.
Tyvek roll seems like it would work well.
Our Troop is planning to build their own hammocks as a group. Plans in the works. Good to go.
This leaves tarps. Can folks offer up suggestions of what type of material would be a good tradeoff...
I put myself down for 30.
Sold and shipped
I'll take a pair, 2.5"
Counting the days till mine shows up. Can't wait.
Last drop: $90
Either way . . . I'd suggest putting a set of skins on the hammock and packing the tarp seperately (possibly in it's own skins). This would help a bit setting up and taking down in the rain.
Dropping it by $10. Now asking $100
I think they only come in one color.

Just thought I would mention that I have my HHSS #1 up in the For Sale forum in case anyone wants to save money on one.
New Price:
I'm putting up my Hennesy Hammock Super Shelter System #1. Works with EXPEDITION, BACKPACKER, HYPERLITE and EVADER.
I've used it about 4-5 times and have opted for getting Adam to...
I used to camp there a bit back in college. Really love that place. Was camping there when a Hurricane was bearing down on us in 1992.
