I know..sounds crazy.
I am working on a gathered end basket chair idea where you sit across the hammock with suspension on your sides. Making the leg side longer than the back gives you back...
And yes! I'll fiddle :)
I left out....I plan to do a continuous ridge line using two Dutch biners and a Prusik (skinnier zing it for the Prusik)
I have a 12x9 Chinook coming in the mail. I know I will add webbing to the ridgelines and the bottom sides where the grommets are.
I have some Nite Ize reflective guy line and also have 180ft of 2.2...
Following this.
I made a Hammock and UQ with it but hadn't considered it for a Tarp.
Good thread. I got mine too but haven't used it yet.
Asymmetric tarp coming up!
The comfort and support comes from getting the spread of the fabric and the angles correct.
Not from padding.
I've spent hours at a time in my HammockSeat while hunting.
Have napped in it many...
Think I fixed it!
Cellphone uploads.....
Pretty cool how they hang upside down huh?
Pretty advanced for a beginner
Got a Singer Heavy Duty machine for $80 and have gone nuts...
9' Argon Woodland Camo hammock (for my 10 year old son) with a sewn Insulbright 40x48 PLUQ and Fronkey Bugnet in Olive Brown from...
I should have gone and put chalk marks down with a seam gauge.
Will try that next time.
It feels wrong to pin Nylon more than you have to.
I've made two hammocks.
The rolled hems look pretty good.
For the sewn channel, I folded an inch over and then folded it another 3 inches.
Triple stitched it.
UGLY but it won't fall apart.
I...
By the way, I just used my rolled hem foot to do a simple rolled hem on some fleece.
Got a 'commercial quality' clean stitch that can't (currently) do without the foot.
Great tip
I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a lighter leg.
If it is easy to detach like the people that were just using a pocket, you could also quickly switch it over to 2 tree suspension.
I'm still very...
50x72 Down Throw in some good colors for 40% off of $80:...
I just sold mine and ordered Noseeum from ripstopbytheroll.
Thing is, I need a setup for my son too.
DIY starts to make a lot of sense when you need more than one rig
Will do.
The DIYGearsupply plans tell you to sew the edges into the hem.
But they say to use a thicker Nylon material for it.
If the grosgrain is on the bottom side of the tarp would that be OK?
Me too.
And when there are trees all over the place which make for better/safer cover, the tripod doesn't make sense.
Hanging it between two trees is a better solution and then we are measuring it...
Something to keep in mind...you got these for basically nothing and will not have to spend much on parts.
But modifying sleeping bags and poncho liners can give you functional gear but it will be...
There are lots of threads on it.
The hardest part seems to be keeping the down in place when you are cutting.
You will make a mess.
You can run a stitch inside of where you are going to cut.

The Hammock calculator will tell you how much force is being applied at different hang angles:

Thanks.
I actually have a set of accessory feet on order so will be looking up your video.
Oops...wasn't clear.
Not for the Tie-Outs, was going to put a triangle shaped reinforcement like the DIYGearsupply plans
Just did a practice Organizer using some mesh I found on sale at a local store.
The material had some stretch which was a challenge.
I couldn't Roll hem it. Had to do it in 2 passes of folded hems....
I ordered some SilPoly from Ripstopbytheroll and plan to do a couple of simple rectangular Asym Tarps.
I have some 2 1/4" grosgrain on hand.
Would that be a suitable material for the corners?
That is a really good price.
At Michael's they are over $30.
I bought a small bag and they are great.
Thanks for posting this.
Going to get some scrap material and PRACTICE.
Just bumping this.
I Know I will learn a lot from doing the first one...but just need a little reassurance :)
I have the Fanatic Outdoors version.
That buckle has help up perfectly through two hunting seasons.
Surprised me too!
How about a Tube Quiver as the Support pole? :)
I have the Hammockseat and have hunted in it quite a bit.
It is a good product that is totally worth buying UNLESS someone comes up with an ultralight DIY version.
Then I'LL Make one too :)
If...
Grosgrain will hold water
UPDATE
I was at a local liquidation store and found a Singer "Heavy Duty" machine for $80.
Works GREAT (so far).
Have made a ridgeline organizer, a bunch of Wool and Fleece drawstring bags and...
Planning to make a Yetti-sized UQ 48x40
And want to make sure I am on track.
Thinking I would use 1.1oz Ripstop
Apex 5
I've got 2 1/4 Grosgrain (to make it easier on myself when sewing the...
Remove the zipper pulls too.
I wondered about removing the extra zippers too....don't really need a two way zipper
Also the logo tags.
That said I think you'll still be a good 3-4 oz heavier...
Funny...I was just wondering that.
I have a Hooded Poncho that I made out of a wool blanket.
I was using it diagonally like you would a Poncho Tarp.
Also have improvised one with my Feet in the...
Are you on large trees? 6' Huggers and 6' leads that I have seem perfect.
I just cut an 18"x25" Pad out (I had the 25" Wide version).
It weighs 122 grams or 4.3oz.
Fills the outer perimeter of my Medium ALICE Pack.
I might cut off an inch or two to make it a little...
Nice
I have an old Thermarest Ridgerest Solite that is way too bulky for backpacking at full size
But it would make a nice Sitpad and double duty under my feet and it would pack flat on my pack...
Looking at JacksRBetter for instance.
If you had a Yetti sized UQ, a Torso pad is much larger than needed for just your legs.
But the JacksRBetter and Gossamers are light and seem to roll up small....
Zing-It is stupidly strong.
The knots will derate it.
I am curious as to what happens when you USE your SRL to hang from trees that are very far apart.
No shortage of trees here in TN though.
I got lucky with a kids sleeping bag pod.
It had a drawstring top which I cinched on the foot end
Pulled the bag up to around my shoulders and tightened the zipper to adjust the fit.
Rotated the...
Was just reading the dimensions of the Yeti....46"L x 40"W
Sounds crazy (to some one who has never been in sub 50f temps in a hammock).
I am 6'1"
Do you not put the UQ under your head?
On me,...
Just tried it in my hands...
If you are using a continuous loop for your Prusik, using the thin part for your wraps will make it hold better.
Try using at least 4 wraps for your Prusik.
3 wraps...
I would think that if it did fall it would be in super slow motion.
If you had a problem I think that it would be that the Prusik would roll and get jammed.
You should also try a Blake's Hitch. ...
97031HK,
Got another Multicam?
Interested in a Tomahawk?
I have a 'never thrown' 2Hawks Woodsman.
