Rain Man,
Thanks for posting and all those photos! I greatly enjoyed looking at all of them. Many brought a few tears to my eyes. I haven't been up there in a long time and it was sooooo good to...
I agree!! :)
All gathered (so far...) hehe :D
Very cool idea! Thanks! :)
Thanks, Frost! Those simple, quick suggestions can really save a life.
I like to check not only the widowmaker possibilities and the lean of the surrounding trees, but after an extremely...
Though I don't have a bottom-opening hammock any more, I still like my trusty JRB Nest for my UQ, and my No Sniveler for my topquilt, or vice versa. They work either way :D Both together weigh in at...
Well this just opened up a whole new world for you both! Woo Hoo! :)
Better sleep ahead for you both! Enjoy!
Very nice tarp! Fits in quite nicely on your 'Hammock Farm'!! :)
Thank you again, Shug! :)
Wishing you cooler weather and electrolyte replacement drinks...
Hi WarMace, and welcome to the forums! :)
The Pemi was my turf for a good couple years. The Bondcliff trail offers some of the best views in the Whites! I'm jealous! I miss it up there terribly!...
Thanks for the link, Loneoak!
I started out with a HH. At the time, Hammockhanger and SGT Rock were using them and I really wanted to try one too. Back then I didn't know there were any other kinds around, lol.
I liked my...
Ditto on what ShadowAlpha said! :)
Thanks everyone!
I believe Zpacks sells it...
I'm a *smidge* over 5'. :) I've never really had problems finding a way to hang *yet*.
I tend to set up my tarp rather low (since I'm short and can't reach very high :D), so I find I like my tarp lines around 6ft for along the edges. I like my sidewall lines around 10ft though. I can...
I agree with Shug. If at all possible, try some things out before you hit the trail. Hammocks are curvy and slippery and things tend to not want to stay put!
It's kinda fun though, playing with...
Tim,
You've always been so encouraging and 'real' here! That's rare and valuable stuff right there!!
Thanks SO much for all you've done for us here, and will (I'm sure) continue to do, just by...
Thanks, Oms. Nice to see the double hang photo. :)
A Jeff's Gear Hammock and Rain Cover might be helpful.
I usually don't have too much extra hanging around, but for what I do have, I will sometimes just leave it in the pack, cover the pack with...
Thanks for doing this video, SGT Rock! I was wondering about this project and that tape, but hadn't seen anything about it yet. WOW! What a project!
Thanks so much for posting the videos! I really enjoyed them. Good info :)
Welcome to all you new members, whether juniors or not. :)
Making a donation helps with the expensive upkeep of this forum, AND you get to know the secret handshake and see the secret threads and...
Welcome to HF, and to hanging! :)
I specifically didn't call it a 'sewing machine' out of respect for my fellow thread injectionists. Thankfully, I'm familiar with various translations :D
zig zag stitching can be used to reinforce an area, like on webbing. It's not really necessary though- you can just stitch over and over an area a few times instead.
I like to use a very slight...
Really nice looking setup you made! :thumbup1:
You're gonna love that size tarp out there in a good rain. Lots of room to spread out...
Congratulations- great job!
Very nice! Contratulations! :)
What's next? :D (diy can be addicting) lol
I leave mine in skins too. Sure, the tarp is wrinkled when you go to set it up, but that goes away pretty quick.
I'm not very hard on my gear, so I usually use a #3 coil. I put those on two hammocks so far. One was large teenager tested last Fall. They're both holding up very well!
You just need to consider...
Welcome to the forum! :)
Now, why the heck did I walk into this room? What was I going to do?
Congratulations to you!
When I made my first 'clone' hammock, it was quite an accomplishment. I didn't know if I could do the netting and zipper part. But, thanks to members sharing their tips,...
Congratulations! Very nice work! Always rewarding to diy- and have things actually work! Great job :)
Bravo!! Nice looking gear you made!! Congratulations- you done good! :thumbup1: Love the camo...
I still get just as scared hammocking as I did when I tented or tarped. I find the rocking hammock caused by my shaking to be somewhat soothing though...
To me, hearing a large tree coming...
Welcome to the forum and to hanging! Funny, the ground is getting harder where I live too.... ;)
Welcome! You're off to a great start! :)
Really great job, Slack! :thumbup1:
Yeah, that is a tricky one. You really don't know how that hammock will work for you until you try it out for a few nights. And it doesn't matter how many people rave about a certain hammock brand-...
Great first hang! Congratulations, and thanks for sharing it with us. It helps bring all the newness magic back :)
Welcome to HF!
There's a wealth of info here, and if you can't find it, ask. Of course, you may get many different answers...
Part of the fun of hammocking is figuring out what works for you....
I use the aluminum tape as well.
Did someone mention *chocolate*??
Great! Now I have a major chocolate crave going on.... :D
Back when I first recieved my used HH netless Scout, it came with wider tree hugger straps (2" maybe?). I pictured them working really nicely, but I found that they were more prone to slipping while...
Without wearing camo? ;):D
Yes, you moderators do a wonderful job here of keeping things very enjoyable for the rest of us. THANK YOU !!!!!!
Welcome to HF! :)
Congratulation on your first hammock night!
I've been using a hammock for a lonnnng time now, but I still learn something every time. I find it's a process... (addiction)
Enjoy!!
My husband can't understand my hammocking attraction. I'm slowly working on him though...
I try to time my backyard testing for when he's home. I tell him I need him to lay in the hammock so I can...
Anna, that was such a moving post! :crying
I'm glad you're with us, and that hammocking is part of your life.
What an inspiration!
Thanks for sharing with us!
