Little over 3hrs
It was a great time! The whole town was so inviting and getting to put faces with some of my favorite cottage venders was a great plus. I spent a lot of time just chatting with thru hikers and...
we're coming in tonight with our Boy Scout troop.
So who are the "reputable sellers" out there?

I use a DIY "dog bone" pillow. It...
Mine must be PU then. It has an obviously coated side and a natural looking side. Also the sealer I used is sticking nicely. Whew! I got the fabric on eBay and it said "coated ripstop nylon". I...
How can you tell sil from poly?
The ridge is straight cut and hangs straight if I put it over the ridgeline, but I hung it under the ridgeline to avoid interference as I sealed the ridge. I did think it looked cool that way though.
Thanks for the video. I think that l definitely need to make one now. I love the way this community shares and moves forward together.
Considering making some grizz beaks.

I followed their plans. I used some coyote sil-nylon from eBay and sealed the ridge line with Coleman seam sealer. I put 1" straps in the corners without D...
I'm looking forward to a good rainy trip. I've been a blue tarp guy for the last 2 years! It's about time I got some class!

SUCCESS! Total DIY! Turtledog stand, whoopies & 1.9 ripstop hammock. I am one comfy happy fellow.
Nicely done! Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
I just fell into the rabbit hole! Made my first whoopie slings and a soft shackle today. We test hang tonight! http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/04/603734cbfb00c06e169882226580deef.jpg...
When the trappings of modern life are striped away. There is plenty of time for such work. I lived in the Dominican Republic for 3 years and tasted this lifestyle and it is mind numbing at first then...
That is a very cool idea!
Got to love a mayan hammock! I'm a recent convert to gathered end hammocks, but I've been a "mayan-ase" hanger forever.
well done! looks like the beginning of a wonderful addiction.
I just made my first loops today with help from this video. Hope it helps you too. http://youtu.be/xcoKeXAwBZY
im in! such generosity!
It is always good form to poke fun at gram weenies. Why not make the down container (freezer bag) out of the same materiallessness material as the tarp? It would save a little more weight. .
We'll written and to the point. A fine summary of what we do.
I'm in. I love the generous spirit of the people who "hang" out on this forum. None of the other forums I visit are anything like this.
i know this has been cold a while but boy is it true! feels like someone's been reading my mail.
El Dorado Outpost has all types of panning supplies and I'm sure Chris the owner could give you some advice on which creek would be a good choice.

This is the best kilt quote I've ever heard!
Quote from a preacher on greeting a kilted gentleman at church:
"The Lord looks down on a man in a kilt and is proud, the devil looks up on a man in...
I love my DIY dogbone pillow made from some old jeans. It just fills the little gap under my neck and gives a little support right to left.

I average once a night at home and 3 trips in the hammock. After some "thank goodness no one saw that" late night and half asleep trips to seek "nirvana" (blissful emptiness) I've started taking an...
That is awesome!
This is my first hang with a bull line suspension. 30' of bull line with the alpine butterfly loops tied 114" apart and larks headed onto the gathered ends.

It is 138"x59.5" finished dimensions. I spent last weekend at a Boy Scout training course and I found I could actually sleep on my side in it! I do give some credit for that to my thermarest pad...

My 60# son was toasty warm on the Yoga mat so I guess it works pretty good but I don't have any personal experience with it.
Well the way I figured it was better for the 260 pound man to catch the 60 pound kid then vice versa. So he took the top bunk.
It was fun being an unofficial hammock camping ambassador. Several adults and a bunch of kids were amazed that we were going to sleep in "that".
Forgot to mention our insulation. It got down to 27º and we were snug as bugs while many of our tenting neighbors froze. I had a thermarest pad and two sleeping bags with a poncho liner tied around...

Our pack 530 Peachland/Polkton had a great weekend. Gold Rush is always a great time for the boys. This one was special to me and my son because it was the first outing with our new DIY hammocks. ...
Mine settled in at 11'6" and its real comfy. i guess i was just thinking theoretically more than practically.
Brilliant! But where should we start it…general hammock chat, top insulation, weather protection or DIY?
Something like this, a happy fellow in his happy place rocking some righteous facial moss!...
Nylon digital camo from Walmart. It's not ripstop but it's really soft an lays real nice.
