Refreshing,
very cool video! Great timing for me as I have been reading up on recreational tree climbing and working on meeting some people in my area that do it that I can learn from as I don't...
Looks awesome!
Beast dee rings are an alternative to sewn pockets.

Hi Kitsap, I'm planning to build a UQP. Your projects are a great inspiration.
Question, I was wondering would DW Ion be a decent option for a material?
Wow. quiet's report sounds epic. I am interested to hear more.
As hard as they are in the moment, I do enjoying the 'survival' factor of 'endurance' trips. I've been known to accidentally 'plan'...
I used one of these before I had a UQ. They help! Shug shows a diy one in his video about using camping pads. Eno offers a commercial version called the hotspot

Classic knotty mod video aka side stretch hammock
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d0VfSILeRGs
If understand correctly, you have the knotty mod as loose as possible. How I use and understand a knotty mod is to tighten it up to create a faux footbox. This will help raid the edge of the hammock...
Nice, classic gorge hike! I'm curious to see part two and where you guys ended up camping

Agreed!
I bring long straps and some UCRs in case those are too short. I use a soft shackle to add them onto the straps. PNW trees eat a lot of suspension length.
It arrived! I payed a little extra for deep purple. Thanks Paul and Missy! It is a thing of beauty. ...
Order 4496 just shipped, so excited. First proper top quilt!

I have been doing something similar. I'm using a soft shackle between the hammock cl and the buckle.
Oh man, I ordered mine on 4/8. Must be gettin close!
I actually saw that once. A dog disappeared before my eyes there. It was terrible. A boy and a dad had their dog and were walking ahead of my friend and I and few miles in on the trail. We were...
Cozy in the hammock with rain on the tarp, smell of the wet earth and the woods, that's a great way to spend a night. Have fun!
I love the simplicity of the becket hitch until I need to fine tune it.
I love my UCRs when the minimum hang isn't an issue.
I just got cinch buckles from Dutch, and I love the fine tuning.
I...
Interesting Billy goat. Quite a lot of stuff on their site!

Hey HF!
I intend to add an internal pole modification to a 12' UGQ winterdream. I am thinking of putting together my own poles from Quest Outfitters.
Any thoughts on carbon vs aluminum poles...
Payment sent
I'll take it

Oh man! Green chile cheese burgers! Mmmmmm delicious.
I live in Oregon now, but I grew up in New Mexico 20 minutes from Hatch. Chile rellenos and green chile cheese burgers are some of the only...
I live in the PNW and carry a modular setup due to the size of old growth trees: 15' tree straps, if those get eaten up by the tree I soft shackle on a 6' tree strap or UCR. When not using the UCRs I...
I like to change it up, UCRs with Dutch hooks or straps tied to the continuous loops with a slipped becket hitch are my favorite setups these days. Curious about the beetle buckles.

I only hang on 7/64 Amstel UCRs, never had a slip. Never used a whoopie. I use the continuous loop after the bury to forms a Prussic and keep tension . It's awesome!
Hello from Portland! Hammock camping is great here in the PNW, doesn't matter how much rain is falling! :)

Does it make it difficult to get in and out? Or is it easy to tuck back in?
I would say on the outside is very easy, never gave it a Second thought.
Out of curiosity I'm gonna try the tucked in...
I use my DIY fronky bugnet over my UQ just like fronkey demonstrates in his introductory video. I just am careful not to tighten so much that it compresses the insulation.
Never though if tucking...
Welcoming me from a fellow portlander!

You have to wait but I love my UQ from Under Ground Quilts!

Very cool, thanks for sharing!

That is why I like the single skin. I unhook the tarp from the stakes and slide the skin over. No rolling or organizing. I copied a design for adding guyline pockets to the end of snakeskins that is...
Single all the way. I live in the Pac NW and camp in heavy rain. Have never missed having two acting as rain blocks.
The difference is with two you have to think about working out the bubble etc. ...
Woah! I'm not sure I could have gone back to sleep.

I just started that book. Cool!

Here is the recipe I used for the 'fat bombs' aka blackberry lemon bars
My modifications were to use real sugar and add waaayyyy more to taste. I also added a bit more lemon juice and the zest of...
Hey All,
I can't think of a better result from getting dropped off in a parking lot and picked up by strangers to drive out into the snow and camp together. I had an awesome time! It was my first...
I'm up for a potluck, happy to contribute.
If it doesn't come together that's OK too.
This is my first group hang and I'm really looking forward to it!
Hey Mike, thanks! Sorry for the slow response been AFK.
I'll PM you.
Let me see what I can do about my schedule as per leaving by noon. Thanks for the offer mcbpdx!

Hey all,
I've never hung in the snow yet. I'd love to go! I have a new UGQ 0 degree UQ to try out. My subaru was recently totaled when a truck hit it, so I don't have transportation at my disposal....
Awesome looking hang! love that you used the Wy'East name.
Looks awesome! I need to get out there. Just did a few days in the salmon huckleberry wilderness and the fungus was out of control. So cool.
Thanks for the pics.

Farrimond Hitch is an option. I have recently been experimenting with it. Working well so far. http://www.animatedknots.com/farrimond/
