Welcome! I'm trying to get my dad back out camping and think that hammocks are a great path.
Ohh, I've been looking for pictures of setups just like this. Thanks @phughes !
@LowTech I forget, did you ever find a picture of a Tensa Solo and bike zero tree rig?
Ohh, that could be fun! Now would it be restricted to designs with historical references or more related to what would fit into a particular time period? I have been trying to think up what a...
Looks great! What's the total weight?
Wow, such a great update. Thanks!
I'd been thinking of making a DIY version of the Cricket before finding out about the Tensa4. Here are my sketches describing the components. I may go back to it at some point, but there are so many...
Real tempting, shame is doesn't have the UQ hooks, also a bit bigger/heavier than what I'm currently thinking... a bit. Nice to know about the sales though and that does look like a lovely hammock.
That looks great! I was hanging on Friday night a bit further in-land near Flaming Gyser. Really need to decide what hammock I want to upgrade to...
Congratulations on taking the steps necessary to stay health, and on the re-opening!
Awesome to see such an old account without posts. Welcome back and hope to see some of your project soon!
As the saying sometimes goes, "West Coast, Best Coast". When you trip is planned maybe there can be a hammock hang organized near here?
Welcome! I am excited to someday visit that region. A number of friends who I've been building a small 10th century nordic re-creation village with have beautiful tales and photos.
Woah, that's SOOO awesome! Congratulations (and thanks to @raftingtigger) on helping you find time for such an experience. Please do send nudges with updates, I'm sure open to them!
Stuck in not-disimilar question loops and am leaning towards standard width single-layer. After years with a 9', I'm excited to see how the couple extra feet perform.
Sounds like someone with...
If the hammock has integrated netting, have them set the zipper pulls towards the middle so that they are easy to find by feel.
Looks golden, love seeing the Tensa4's in action! Welcome to the forum. I would love to visit SA some day. Hear there is excellent windsurfing in Costa Rica.
Great review and yet another good mark in SLD's column as I research upcoming purchases!
Woah, that looks great! It always astounds me how well compression sacks work...
What are your thoughts about regular versus wide for the hammock? Is the hammock version of a snake skin still mesh...
Thanks for the thoughts so far!
Definitely gone through some of these and I'm sure more will get queued up along the way.
Yeah, I've been in graduate school for the past half decade and...
Thanks @m00ch

Hi All, I've been itching to upgrade my daily driver hammock for some time, finally leading me to joining the forum and now buying a TQ. Guess it is time to start that shopping list...
tl;dr...
Thanks for that info! I'm also starting to shop for a hammock upgrade and the Trail Lair is appealing due to the larger viewing angle. Would be nice to not have to worry about fit by getting a UQ at...
Happy Birthday! Looks great. Surprised that small of a tarp kept you dry! What is the Darian? Pheonix/Burrow? Was going to ask if that is a sock or UQP but guessing the answer will include that...
Thanks for the review. Currently torn between making and buying a UQ. Kinda on a down kick due to weight/bulk. Were these concerns for you and if so, do you think synth is decent enough these days to...
Is the Reaper full length?
Thanks m00ch! The "I'll take it" was in a PM :)
Now for the new hammock and UQ... xP
I read the thread title as the start of a sea shanty...
Thanks for the history!
Such a shame, jelly. Who are the go-to's these days aside from Dutch, WB, and SLD? I'm probably itching for an 11' to replace my ENO DN DLX and Uncle Jeff bug net covered one...
Too true... also love your sig!
I'm most sad about missing out on BIAS, their specs seemed to tick basically every box (well at least weight and price...)
Great write-up! I've been thinking that a smaller/lighter tarp is a near future project...
Wow, this seems like a great resource! I noticed that it hasn't been updated in about half a decade. Would there be any interested/mechanism towards making an updated version collaboratively?
Since the OP spreadsheet linked in this sticky has been removed, should the sticky still exist? I get that a number of links have been added over the years, but they aren't really in a collected form...
Nice video @cmoulder though it would be nice if there were a text overlay with the name of the knot you were tying. Also, I'm wondering why you have two hanging hitches and three friction knots. Are...
Yeap, was testing out a PeaPod-esque thing prior to a recent winter hang. I need to post a trip report of it but have been dragging my feet...
Thanks again for all of the info. I'm going to think on it through the day, but am pretty sure I'll take it!
Re #4, yes I would need a stuff sack, those things are magic...
What a great trip report, really a model to strive for. Thanks!
Looking good! I'm not in that area often but who knows wheels will take me later in the season...
Thanks for all of the info!
Looking things up it is definitely tempting...
A few more questions:
1. This Bandit has the snap and draw cord neck closure, but no additional draft collar right?...
I'm pretty tempted by the Bandit. Are the extra ounces more attributed to fabric or OF? Also wondering what the recommended TQ length is compared to height?
I enjoy knots, not just for hammocking. It's a fun hobby and figuring out the best knot for each situation, perhaps extending the tail to something decorative, tickles a certain something. Also, I do...
:thumbup1:
Probably. Aside from sorting, the general idea is to keep an eye out for introductions from folks in WA and add them, right?
Added myself to the WA column. Unsure if others areas are keeping theirs alphabetically sorted, but it's kinda nice.
Gorgeous, pretty jelly!
I haven't switched to Tyvek yet but plan to. Currently I either go without (when weight restricted) or have a piece of artificial turf. It is nice to not have to choose between immediately getting...
Welcome to the forum! As a Seattle local, I've always wanted to bikepack/hammock Vancouver island. Someday...
Missing my old Honda Helix knock-off...
Gotcha, thought I was missing something for a moment. Definitely a nice mounting place. Considering whether that and a long pump would strap more easily to the downtube to stay out of the way....
