I have the DryFly but wish I had bought the ProFly. Mainly for the extra coverage but also because that's two less guy lines to fool with.

Car camping is the only way I get to go camping. I can't get anyone I know to go backpacking and I'm too cautious to go alone, so I pretend I'm backpacking by just taking my backpacking gear...
Great trip report and awesome photos! It's good to see another Nikon user. Everyone I know uses Canon and I don't know why haha! I can't wait to take a cross country trip myself. I'd like to wait...
:boggle: I'm in!
If there's more than one way to skin a cat, people here will discover all of them and document each thoroughly.
I was just at Walmart today looking (unsuccessfully) for snap type grommets and saw a few cord locks. They looked large enough to me.
+1 for Introduce Yourself sticky!
It's awesome to see how many Volunteers are on the forum! Looking forward to the next group hang
What a great video! I watched it from start to finish. It's definitely the first time I've seen anyone hang the WS AND the SRL BEFORE the hammock
I will definitely be grabbing some...
I love tying knots, I just hate untying them
@GaryBunk, That looks really cool! I am having a hard time visualizing this in action though. It may be because I'm not familiar with whipping...
Welcome from southeast Tennessee! Tons of DIY info here. I've spent the last 3 days reading DIY threads. Each time I decide on a project I see another interesting thread and my whole plan goes out...
I agree, the first time I hung my ENO I hung it too tight and didn't like it. I did a little reading and fixed my problem by introducing some sag.
I got my whoopie slings from whoopieslings.com. The owner is a member of the forums and he's awesome to deal with. I'm not sure where everyone gets their loose amsteel. I'm sure someone will reply...
I would stay away from nylon if you're going to be sleeping in it every night. Nylon stretches like you wouldn't believe. You can either use polyester webbing or amsteel. I'd suggest getting the...
I've personally never had a problem with them slipping off. I always try to tuck the WS behind the top of the knot a little. But now that I say that out loud, I'm wondering if that defeats the...
Haha! Tent really is a four letter word
Vintage DIY at its finest!
That looks great! I was thinking about using my DryFly tarp bag like Grapenut did but it's not big enough for my bug net. This looks like something I could do instead. Just gotta find the right bag...
Amen! I'm the only one of my friends who doesn't have an Xbox or big screen TV. However, I am the only one with enough gear to survive the zombie apocalypse
Welcome to HF! It's a great community
I've got a DN also and I'm using slapstraps with whoopie slings. I'm using toggles to attach the slings to the straps. Shug does a great job on showing how to set it all up.
I got my WS and toggles today! I love them! I ordered them Thursday sometime after lunch and they were in my mailbox this morning. I watched Stu's video on installing them just to make sure I didn't...
I guess I know what I'm doing today
Yeah, I don't think it's THAT big of a deal. I mean, unless parks started designating large portions of land as H.O.C., I don't see it turning people off.
Thanks for the inspiration guys!

That's more experience than me! Drywall and some minor step repair is about all I've done. But I know how to read a measuring tape and I can swing a hammer
They say you never know how you'll react to a situation until you're in it. I sincerely hope that WHATEVER I do does not get me eaten
I think this is an amazing idea! I don't have a lot of construction experience but I'm willing to help out in any way I can!
Welcome from southeast Tennessee!
I have you beat haha! Received order confirmation at 2:03pm and received the "shipped" email at 2:33pm. But yeah, so fast! I ordered them yesterday and they'll be here tomorrow. +1 for Stu! I will...
I'm not a fan of my slap straps, I'm upgrading to polyester as soon as I can. But for the time being, I'll be using the slap straps to go around the tree as normal but attaching to the hammock using...
I toss and turn a lot at night, and the trees had pretty smooth bark, so they may have just slipped. Shows how much I know, huh?
That sounds awesome! I've only hiked a few of the trails in Cloudland Canyon and whatever bike/hiking trail that winds around Harrison Bay, so I'm looking forward to learning about some new places...
Did the USPS tracking and it looks like I get mine tomorrow! I can't wait! I'm so tired of the slap straps, which are easily my least favorite piece of gear. I'll never forget the first time I slept...
I few weeks ago my dad, my brother, and I went to the public shooting range and I forgot to pack our ammo! I had to drive 35min each way to get it. I don't think they'll let me live it down. But hey,...
I have the DryFly and I just recently started putting the tarp over the ridge line but only because I am using 550 cord (which I hate) and it's very hard to get the clips onto the cord. I haven't run...
I was curious as well, thanks! And welcome, Gebruike! I'm jealous, I've always been fascinated with the Catskills. Growing up my favorite books were My Side of the Mountain and Where the Red Fern...
Welcome from southeast Tennessee! I was a lurker for a couple of days before I registered. The community here is awesome and it's impossible to not want to be a part of it!
Amen! I haven't tried to hang during temps under 50 F, but I'll get that experience soon enough. I will say that the slipping is annoying so I'll have to read up more about the mods.
UTC is a great school. I plan on getting my bachelor's there after I finish my 2 year degree at ChattState. You'll have to let me know some of the best places to hike up there near you. Nashville is...
Thanks everyone! I'm excited to meet everyone and hopefully I'll get to meet some of you in person on a group hang soon!
It looks like you had a great trip! I'm counting down the days until I can take my little Maddy backpacking!
Ah, man! I joined the forums too late! I'd love to make the next trip! I've got all of my gear together, I just haven't found anyone who is serious about backpacking. My friends and I talk about it...
I was looking for a new stove in Rock/Creek and found the ENO. I thought it would be a perfect method to quickly set up for some backyard relaxing. It wasn't until I had already bought it and the Dry...
Mine is my first initial and last name with my area code. Not very original I know but it serves its purpose.
Hello everyone! I've been hammocking for about a year now, but only in my backyard. I decided to get into backpacking and found, through some research, that this is pretty much the place to be for...
