One of our scouts after seeing me hang at summer camp, talked his mom into getting rid of his bed and putting a hammock up while his day was away, hehe. His mom said he slept 12 hrs he first night...
It's surprisingly thinner than I expected.
I believe it'll be a nice addition to my kit no matter what. Additional insulation in colder weather or a light "blanket" in warmer weather
LOL! Very nice
I picked a poncho liner up today. Haven't had time to mess with it but at least I have that option now
AND......TA DAH! Such a good smurf. :boggle:
Maybe check about returning them straight back to ENO? Maybe a pic of the damaged one and they'd just send you a replacement out?
That sucks. I'm sure Randy will help you out for a fair price. Sorry to hear about this.
Maybe keep your gear in a plastic tote?
It may not have anything to do with the vendors if the down is clumped and had to be moved around due to it being ran through the washing machine.
I don't have near the nights in a hammock as some...
I'll try to get a weight of mine for you if you need it either tonight or tomorrow (if I can remember). I have an older (I think) 0°F Incubator that I just got back from Hammock Gear because I had...
Large? Bah, silly little people. j/k
This old fat guy just needs to lose weight is all. :scared:
PM incoming with info
I LOVE my 0°F Incubator, so much so that I just got it back from having HG do 4oz overfill on it so that I can take it even lower hopefully.
That's a thought actually. I was thinking about something similar and talking to my buddy's wife that does a lot of sewing
I didn't list clothing but I have heavy wool socks, polypro tops & bottoms & a beanie I wear. Somewhere around here I also have a balaclava.
I never thought about a poncho liner as a blanket...
Thanks. I know fleece is fairly light but I didn't know if there would be any compression issues with it on top of the TQ. I'm hoping that at some point I'll be able to save up for a heavier TQ
Depending on which hammock I use, I do have one from Dream Hammocks with an overcover. Would you try to use the fleece over or inside of the TQ?
I'll have to keep an eye out for something like...
I don't own a puffy jacket but I do normally have a Nalgene bottle with me, at least when camping with the scouts.
I’m looking for cold weather suggestions to supplement my TQ.
Last year I was able to get down to 4°F (reported) using my HG 0°F Incubator, HG 20°F Burrow (snap/cinch footbox), AHE Down Booties &...
Congrats on the new downy goodness!
I started off in the summer with an ENO Doublenest that I picked up at REI on sale, added straps & whoopies and used a 10' x 10' tarp I had from something else. It was 90°ish F when I went to sleep...
Yes I did get it and it's in my rotation of hammocks.
Here's a very small part of it last winter.
4°F was my coldest using a 0°F HG Incubator, 20°F HG Burrow, Thermarest sit pad under feet, AHE Down Booties, Poly Thermals, UA beanie, UA Hoodie & 2QZQ UQP
11' Purple PolyD Dutch hammock, some Tato Gear clips, Sawyer 1L bags & a Kindle Paperwhite
It's a personal choice but I LOVE my Old Man Winter from Wilderness Logics and I use it as my "do all" tarp. Pole mods aren't needed if you add some shockcord to the pull-outs and have some to tie...
With Christmas almost here and everybody's schedule getting very busy I just wanted to take a moment to say Merry Christmas to my brothers and sisters! May God bless you and yours today and for the...
That's a great idea. Our 5 yr old slept in one of my spare hammocks this June when we were in the Smokies for 3 days and absolutely loved it. He's itching to go again.
I'd love a 0* HG Burrow but dad's cash is low. :(
Congrats! I've only got a few of those orders but I've been impressed with every single order I've gotten
I did a side by side with my 5 yr old last June in the Smokies and this would've been perfect. Thanks for all your work Dutch!
I hate being broke when there are sales. :crying
Nice! Thanks Shug
I'll ask around. Our local archery shop closed up a couple of years ago.
I have some hunter friends that may do their own fletching now that I think about it. They may have some cutoffs laying...
Thanks for the response! Now to find something different for a toggle. Using pieces of 1/2" pvc. Going to try to find someone with a damaged aluminum arrow that I can cut up. :)
I have a quick question about this. I did this a couple of weeks ago and it seemed like the whoopie suspension dug way into the knot after only 2 to 3 hours. Is this normal? How hard will it be to...
Check through this sub forum. Normally you can find In hangs there.
If not for the bugnets, I'd say look into making tablecloth hammocks or something from Dutchware. I don't think Dutch has camo though. This may be a good time to start scanning through the DIY...
Such an amazing giveaway. Very cool of you! God bless you brother!
I have a mesh pocket that Mountaingoat made for the outside of my GoLite Pinnacle ala ULA Ohm that I put my tarp with snakeskins in
My 13 yr old uses a Hammock Bliss, AHE Jarbidge with a 30°F bag as a TQ
Well, I may add one of the 1.4's to my Christmas list. At 270#'s it'll test the fabric but if I go this route it'll be after the beginning of the year at least.
I'd volunteer if I had one, hehe
I'm 270ish and that purple looks SWEEEET!!!
Maybe I'll add that to my Christmas list
What's the easiest way to attach these to the ridgeline?
Nice Paul! Very funny
Hang the 3-month old in a hammock beside you and give the wife a night or two off if it's possible at that age? :D
We went to the Smoky Mountains in June. I hung 2 hammocks side by side and offset the suspension on the tree 180 degrees. My 5 year old slept next to me for 3 nights and absolutely loved it!
