I am 5'8" and had them make a custom x-short incubator for me. Still covers past the top of my head to past the bottom of my feet. I saved a few bucks and maybe a few ounces or grams. Still plenty...
You can always talk to the guys over at HG about making a custom 30* Phoenix. They are very willing to work with you.
That would give you the 10* buffer and would bring you a little closer to the...
Under quilt innovation history in the making! Great job on this! I'm subscribed to this thread and eagerly awaiting the next update!
I just want to give a shout out to Dutch and his team. After tracking my Massdrop package and waiting eagerly for my Dutch Clios to arrive, USPS lost my package and basically told me I was out of...
Maybe it's just me but your links aren't working.
Kind of a long shot seeing how fast they go in the for sale forum. But I'm looking for a 20* Incubator.
Thanks,
NickR
Youbet, it's all yours if you still want it. You seemed pretty excited. I'll wait for the next one.
I'll take the incubator
But you can't for wrong with the brand. And 40% off is a great deal.
I have the straight blade for a smooth cut. I haven't used the serrated blade scissors but it sounds like they may be for heavy weight fabrics?
I picked up a pair! I figured it would be nice to have a set to move around to different straps. Once I settle on a strap length I think I will get the sew on type.
Picked up my set! 14.99 and free shipping...can't beat that!
Whoooooo Buddy!! I just ordered mine! Thank you Shug for all of the great videos and information. I probably would not have converted to hanging if it wasn't for you. Thanks for getting me out in...
Great pictures! I would love you get to NZ one of these days.
I have an 11' hammock with a SR. I run a DIY 11' winter tarp. Plenty of space inside and plenty of coverage over the ends of my hammock.
Great blog post. I've read Andrew Skurka's book and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is a wealth of information. I'm sure it was a super fun trip.
Original post has been updated.
Thanks for sharing. Looks like a good time. I will have to add this area to my list of places to hike.
For reference, I have a DIY full length UQ made w/ double layer or 5 oz apex. It weighs about 32-36 oz. I prefer the 1/8" shock cord because it holds the UQ tighter to me while in the hammock.
...
If you try it, let us know how it works for you. I'm curious how it would effect the lay/hang. It would certainly be strong enough, just a little heavy for the UL folks.
Recycling at its finest!
Welcome from Greensboro, NC!
A hot water bottle between your legs will do wonders...
You should check out the BoneFire hammock. It's super light. Integrated bugnet and underquilt. I got to talk to Brother Bones last weekend and try out the hammock. Great guy and great product. It was...
Happy Birthday, Dutch!
I know you use Xpac in your current pack. Did you come up with a way to seam seal it? After seeing your rig at the PSH group hang last weekend I've been thinking about trying my hand at pack making.
Stove and rings received. Fast shipping. Thanks, Fastfox.
As I head out there today, is the anything extra I should grab from the store to assist with the cooking?
I'll take the rings too.
Received PM. Do you have any pics of the descending rings?
I'll take the giga power stove
And as always, take some scrap fabric before you start sewing your top quilt and do some practice stitches. That will also give you a chance to adjust your thread tension if need be.
I added myself to the spreadsheet. I am looking forward meet everyone and some good eatin'. Is there anything extra food wise I should bring?
What is the UQ rated for?
Looks great! A great tip to make the drawers glide well is to use furniture wax/ paste wax. Rub it on the glide surface and it will smooth out a lot.
Also, a little bit of poly or paint will make...
I personally use a ridge line on my 11' DIY gathered end. However, I've been thinking about making a bridge hammock.
Does anyone use a ridge line with their bridge hammock?
Welcome from Greensboro, NC!
Technically most synthetic hammock materials would be IFR (Inherently Flame Retardant). A couple of coals would likely just melt/burn through. That could eventually turn into a rip or tear. But I...
Looks like a great build! I'm looking forward to watching your progress. I am in the midst of my own winter tarp project, however, I am not as good at documenting it as you.
Very cool, gunner. I am in the midst of my own tarp project with my new thread injector my wife got me for Christmas!
I'm in! Merry Christmas!
I can't wait! Hopefully I will be bringing my wife to this one as well!
Great find! You can also go the route of harvesting the down and stitching up your own underquilt.
I use biners in my MSH all the time. I like having them around while backpacking to attach things to my pack if needed.
Great looking tarp! Is it a rectangle or are there cat cuts?
Great looking tarp. Maybe one day I will decide to take the plunge on a Cuben Tarp, but for now I'm working on a Silnylon tarp. I would love a copy of your AutoCAD drawing. I use AutoCAD for my job...
I personally would go with an 11' PolyD hammock. Light weight, affordable, and comfortable. Good luck on the search! There are a lot of great hammocks and companies out there.
I will be trying the pile hitch on the next camp out!
