Looking for someone to go kayaking with! I just got my first kayak for a class I'm taking at Penn State Berks. In other words I have no experience now but will have a basic understanding sometime...
Students Hiking for A Cure (SHAC) is a trip I've been planning for the last 6 months with a fraternity brother of mine. The trip will take us a week, starting August 13rd and going till the...

Hey guys, click the picture if you'd like to see my album from the trip. Overall the weather was amazing!...
Shug I hope you don't mind, I used this site to make your youtube channel into a podcast.
Seems to work in my itunes (i'm downloading Hammock How-to Part 7 right now) we'll see if it syncs to...
Just saw these a few days ago, what a deal!
Small world indeed, likewise on the safeness.
Peace / happy trails

Hey everyone,
I'll be home for spring break with a few of my buddies who will be doing 50 miles on the A.T. starting at the fire tower off 61 and going north. We'll probably be leaving this...
I'm going to be the voice of optimism and say you can fit your hammock in that room no prob. I know the fabric I used to make my hammock is 3 yds long = 9' not counting the sag. Consider however...
Just thought I'd mention that I found a site that does custom bumper-stickers starting @ $3 and decreasing in price for each that you buy (+ Shipping is free :) ). PM me if you're interested in this...
I would also use that bumpersticker... the Wrangler would love it :)
Also making my own shortly, will upload pics, tell me what ya think!
For me it depends on the season.
In the winter I getting out of the hammock for that cup of coco is just not gonna happen. But hey, the chances of animal encounters are also pretty low, so why...
hey all,
just noticed this post and coincidentally did the same thing last night. I used one of the thicker ones w/ the colored back. I attached in a similar fashion with the reflective side in. ...
Got a jetboil!!!! (No fuel canister tho :( )
Also got an awesome north face fleece.
I've taken a non-mummy bag, one with dual zippers, and put my guide line through one end then zipped it around me. If you have the right amount of hang it can be reasonably comfortable and requires...
I've always stood by the "toes are cold, put on a hat" philosophy and will continue to do so. Even though the 40 - 45% heat loss may be a myth I still think it's a good practice. After all, no one...
1 - You'd be surprised at how quickly I can put this up and take it back down again. At this stage in the game it probably takes me about 15 - 20 mins either way, depending on how many times I need...
yes yes a thousand times yes! awesome idea!
Not sure how practical it is (bandwidth?) but I would love this feature!
I did see this hammock hut before and believe me, am green with envy. :boggle: I did some numbers awhile back for fabric costs and it ended up being on the high side to make it large enough for 2. ...
Added another video with my new tarp. :)

I added more pictures to my picture directory, link is in the OP.
I used a carabiner to attach the 2 sides of the pop tent to my tree huger rather then the sides of the tree. With a 10x8 tarp (or...
I'm also prone to this problem. Stretching usually helps me a bit.
boy scouts years ago. I started with a nasty walmart hammock and blue tarp... used it once and never again. Found HF around a year ago and haven't slept on the ground since.
That is one awesome tent!! I was thinking about adding a stove jack myself, let me know if you find anyone that has already!
Today I made a slight tweak to the shelter, I pulled the 2 tent halves...
Thanks!! That's exactly what I was going for!
I'll admit you've probably got a point with the silnylon; the main reason I chose to use the pup tent was because I already had it. I'm a college guy, and the cheapest I can figure a silnylon setup...
@mustardman
Much appreciated! Just took me a minute to remember how to embed youtube videos. :P
Hey HF!
I got tired of sitting around inside so I decided to test my idea for a winter hammock shelter...
I usually camp w/ at least 1 other person, and carry separate shelters has never been...
Indeed!
I'm in Reading; if anyone's within 100 miles feel free to PM me for a hang!
Peace

Thanks for the input everyone. I've performed most of the suggestions with no success (haven't checked the bobbin drive shaft but will soon gargoyle). I think if I can't figure this out in the next...
Well that was an unexpected thread rejuvenation.
Sorry to have brought up an old thread (I often forget to check dates when replying to threads)
So far no luck. This is the problem I'm having. Also its a Singer 6217C if that's helpful.
Thanks everyone!
MUCH Appreciated.

worth checking at army surplus stores as well. I got 62 yards (yes yards) for $9. Its not exactly what I was looking for (has somewhat of a cotton feel to it) but it gets the job done, and for the...
LOL What a great thread.
My first few times I was nervous, anymore I just walk as though I have a purpose. "Yea, I sew, you have a problem with that?" I've always found that people in fabric...
Hello all!
I'm not a sewing vet, but I've hacked together a few things in the past. Today I've run into a problem. When I attempt to use my sewing machine I get about 4 stitches in when the...
I "do not have permission to access this page" ...?
Thanks for the tut, LOVE your site btw, have consulted it many many times!
Awesome tut!
Sounds like a super easy way to tension your tarp on the trail, will definitely need to try this as soon as I can find some shock cord!
Sorry if my drawling isn't too clear (I can see where the confusion is) The basic idea is to sew the 1/2 circles to the foot and head of the hammock (to the 47" side of the piece labeled bottom.) ...
There they are :)
The plan is to make it comparable to a hennesy and have a rain fly and bug net that are zippable.
What do you guys / gals think?

Anyone available earlier in the week? unfortunately im unavailable after thanksgiving, but i have off class all that week.

Nate
