Rightly or Wrongly, I subscribe to the Synthetic side of the discussion, ever since I went on a winter holiday with SWMBO, to Barbados, and her down jacket came back in an unusable lump of orange and...
I was at the HotSprings hang when Ed announced that Dale and John were taking over Ed's product line. (I own a Switchback, and love it)
They look great! Looks like it was a great time!
I am an infrequent hanger, with a bunch of equipment that I can let you try, before laying out a bunch of money.
I would love to be there, but I'm working until Wednesday morning.
I'm too oldnslow. (Swidt) to handle 8 days backpacking. I'm also low man on the totem pole, so summer times off are not likely. I'd be up for a few day mini wuse hike. LOL
I'm sure looking forward to it!
Wife had major surgery, so out of commission for the summer and fall. Ready for camping again this spring and summer!
Depending on the time and how it fits with my work sched, I would be game for a trip. Snide and I had a great time the one time we went out. Looking forward to doing that again.
I don't have a WB, but do have a double switchback, and can say that the double layer helps keep the pad in place much better. I also feel that the two layers help keep the pad from causing sweat...
I hope you are having a great hang, while I slave away:lol: Next time.....
My wife tells me that squatting with one's back against a tree helps hold one up, and keeps things "tidy"
You only have a problem if you go to a 12 step program.
Im good with Monday through Wednesday evening.
OH, I don't know, you long haired cammo wearing hippie:lol: Nah, they just couldn't believe anyone sleeping in anything less than a 30 foot trailer or motorhome.
So much for the pioneer spirit in...
Awe shucks. a little libation around the fire is my idea of camping. No problems. I also look forward to having a bunch of us like minded hammock hangers in a group. We will blow the ground...
There is no phone reception where we were, but we walked to the beach, and stood on a picnic table to get reception. :-). At that time (10:45pm) it was 2C. Not sure just how much lower it went.

I had a great time with snidetripod at miquelon. I learned more about the uq I made, and totally enjoyed the night.
You've convinced me! I convinced my wife. I'll be there in a half hour.
Your killing me.... I wish I could be there.
I wish I could... no money until Friday :-(
any other date suggestions for meeting? I am available any time
I have a gun club meeting. Available after 9 pm, or before 7. Otherwise the rest of the week is free!
I think it would be great to get together to drink coffee and plan! a club is sure possible. count me in. Miquelon has some great trees in the individual campsites located in the C loop, somewhere...
of course, My situation is the reverse. Good for May 23 = 24, but working the other week-end.
If some of us are going the 23rd, I have a screen room, for over the camp table, so we will be able to...
May 23 - 25 work well for me.
John
So, did you quilt the KAQ? I have FINALLY finished sewing the edges of my square, not ptomack KAQ, or could we say possibly new river quilt? I am wondering, also , how many layers of the...
I know I am answering an old thread, but for those who are asking the same question, I have two hammocks I regularly use... The SWB 1.9DL, which is my favorite, and the DD frontline, which I also...
The 1.9 DL switchback is my first cottage vendor hammock, and my absolute favorite hammock. I am still using pads for insulation, and they work extremely well. I have had no pad creep, and stay...
TTTgear switchback, and hex tarp84831
In Alberta, the summer daily highs range from 65 F to 90F, and the lows from 80f to 40f, so bottom insulation is ALWAYS included in the pack. I personally use a double hammock, with a pad. That has...
I would be very interested in hanging around with fellow Edmontonians! I work shift work, so could be available mid week, depending.... PM me and I can give cell and email addys
I am over 6 feet tall, and over 250 pounds, and I slept just fine in a DD hammock. I was not the Frontline, but the traveller (one of the seconds purchased in a group buy) I found it incredibly...
To help and muddy the waters further, you may want to add the switchback hammock in the bunch you are looking at. It is wide enough, and sleeps quite flat, so your rolling to your side will not be...
Being from Canada, we cannot carry either....otherwise I would carry my Tokarev or CZ:cool:
It sure is nice to have a supportive sig other. My GF really likes sleeping in a hammock, and is the one to suggest we go hammocking. Doesn't get any better than this....other than the fact she...
If I have calculated this correctly:
100ft 7/64 grey 26.44
100 ft 1/8 black 18.20
less 5.20 39.44
plus 8.75 international shipping and 17.00 cdn shipping. Is that right?
If...
If you have ordered the Hennesy, then nevermind. :D On the other hand, if you are still wondering, I will throw a few more curves. The jungle hammocks, such as the claytor and DD hammock are two...
Let us know how we can best assist you get the job done as efficiently as possible! I will be setting aside what I think everything will cost, including shipping to Canada. Again, thanks!
I added my name, and the order to the spreadsheet....very smooth process. 100 ft of 1/8 grey ($20), and 100 ft of 7/64 black($12). That should be more than enough for playing around. ...
Whoopie slings, with the frontline, and 3 by 3 meter tarp will be a great start. Tree straps and a toggle will get you attached to the tree. The blue walmart ccf pad or any other pad you may have,...
I have the double layer 1.9, and have not had a better sleep in a hammock with any of the other three hammocks I own. ( HH safari, DD hammock, and Speer IIIc) I had huge assistance in the initial...
I just picked up a Singer model 514, from the local singer store in Edmonton. It has two "plastic" gears, but is well serviced, and they gaave me a warranty that includes the replacement of the one...
If you look at AHE, the difference between the new river and the kaq has to do with rectangular vs shaped, and draw strings on the ends, vs shock cord on all four sides. The rectangular, draw cords...
I have one of the IX MAHHA UQs. I am not sure if I should place this between the two layers of the switchback, or place it underneath, like a true UQ? Thanks for your input.
John
I got the climashield that Paul Gibson sells. (I believe it is HL) I made a two layer UQ, and was very comfortable down to 32* (0*C sounds better:D) at the MAHHA. It was a square "new river" like...
Wow! Mac, Ed, John, and Dale....quite the dynamic hammock team. A pleasure to have met all of them, and a source of much great equipment!
