Good to know there's local hangers about! Unfortunately, my knee has decided I'm not carrying weight anywhere by foot without surgery, so I'm switching to bike touring. The hammock fits nicely on the...
I just got up with an f/b friend who's going to hook me up with his set of original lines, so I'll be putting those on when they come in the mail! All is now good. :)
I want to thank y'all for the...
Thanks - I'll look into that!
Thanks! It doesn't tell me what Hennessy uses, but who cares! That aircore spectra looks like it will do the trick. Now I just need to find a supplier and I'll switch out to that. Thanks, again.
seriously? No-one has an answer to this??
What size is the spectra line that Hennessy uses? My calipers are temporarily out of commission...
Earlier in the thread a comment was made that Hennessy does not supply the space blanket liner. They have changed that policy, apparently - when I got my insulation system, there was a space blanket...
Thanks - good advice. Why did you switch?
thanks, guys! I'll get the biners and rings tomorrow when I'm over at REI anyway for the garage sale.
any problem with that? does the compression of the rope cause a problem with the ropes? I foolishly used figure 9 biners a while ago and they messed up the sheathing a little, so I want to avoid...
I've got the info for cuben fiber cloth, if ya want to buy some. :)
thanks!
plus extra letters
definitely pretty cool! I do have a question, though: why do this rather than just use the mummy bag zipper to get in and out of it? What do you benefit? (yeah, I'm apparently a bit slow and green as...
I just took a quick peek on craigs list Raleigh and there are dozens of sewing machines on there for $40-$80 dollars! DOZENS! I mentioned that fact to my wife and she immediately started to worry......
JToon, it was to attach the rope to the strap - attach the biner to the strap, wrap the rope around the biner. :) Just a way to avoid the knots - thinking ahead to when my hands are frozen. :)
sorry - I mean for the hammock suspension - to go between the hammock and the atlas strap. But I'm going to pass on figure 9 biners - the ones I found chewed up the sheath on my ropes a bit. I'm...
thanks!
seriously?? Ten characters?? :)
these things came from a home improvement store - used mostly for hoisting stuff, I reckon... The core looks good, though, and the sheath isn't completely destroyed, just frayed a bit.
...
no, no - I would never have used one of those. The ones I have are rated for 400 lbs, but their teeth are just too sharp for the rope on the HH... :)
they ate the sheath to the stock ropes on my Hennessy hammock. Bad biners!
so, is a frayed sheath that big a deal here, or am I going to have to fix it? The core seems just fine, only the sheath...
Where in NC are ya?
I think all of us NC folk ought to get together for a group hang!
they aren't cheap, that's for sure - but they're elegant as all get out!
I may just go with the Wasp, if it will work on 1/8 cord... might be too small, dunno.
EDIT: nah, it's only for tarp...
Thanks, guys - I appreciate it. Just wondering what folks use...
and yeah, Corey, I can read typo! And write it, too!*
*stolen from someone, can't remember who...
Delita, I'm new, too, though I've been doing a LOT of research and question asking. There are also three hammock pages on facebook - but nothing as extensive as HF. I'm looking forward to getting...
You must live a bit north of Beaufort, then?
Hey, y'all!
Man, I am sorry - being new to this forum and old to life, I just freakin' forgot I had posted!
I'll be doing the MST from West to East - going the other way would be fun,...
The first of many (I'm sure) questions to come:
where might I find a pair of small figure 9 biners for my hammock setup? :) I'm using a pair from Lowes Home Improvement - yeah, yeah, I know - but...
I'm from Pittsboro and am training for the NC Mountain to Sea Trail in September of this year. After that, I plan to start the Appalachian Trail next March (if I don't burn myself out on the MST!)....
Hey, Delita - I'm also in the area, training for the NC Mountain to Sea Trail in September and (if I don't break myself or burn myself out on that) for the AT next march. I've never been to Raven...
