I don't think that's what the velcro opening on the bottom of a Hennessy Hammock is for...
Hmmm.... May seemed to come and go with no sales :(
I've used my Hex tarp for 2 years with no issues, in fact I love the tarp so much I want to upgrade to the silnylon version. Sounds like you just need to reseal it, and that's pretty easy/cheap to do.
I used to do this, until I had a rude awakening one night and found myself on the ground. I was sure the weight was on the knot and not the stick, but it must have slipped and the stick went SNAP.
Thanks, was just about to order some off eBay. What section of Walmart is it in? In with the camping stuff?
Just had the same issue with a package last week, I got it mid last week but USPS still says it's in LA. I've also had issues with them sending me notification of delivery hours before I've had it...
Is this the generation one or two?
The difference is you're hanging off the ground where air is free to travel under you and wick away the precious warmth your body is generating. The same issue does exist in a tent, except it's the...
I must've done something wrong because I can definitely see where I sealed the seam. It's very noticeable and because I didn't use tape to define the edges it looks even worse. Anything I can do...
Personally I grab the gathered end, pull it towards the loop I'm adjusting, then stuff it in my armpit so I have both hands free to adjust. Sounds weird but it works well and I've never had any...
For me the main issue with the stock suspension was for minor adjustments. It takes a minute to tie the knot and if you then need to add/remove a few inches you have to go through the whole process...
I'm with OP on this one, the HH Hex tarp is a great tarp and I find myself using it in favour of my more expensive silnylon tarp (the Siltarp II). I paid $20 for my hex tarp as an upgrade from the...
Sounds like fun, unfortunately I just made plans for that same weekend. Too bad too, Valens is only about an hour away from me :S
Was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to label silnylon stuff sacks in a non permanent way. I'm not really keen on writing directly on the silnylon in case I change up what I keep in each...
Thanks everyone, I will give it a try and see how low I can go :)
I'm curious if anyone has ever tried stacking UQs and how much success they've had with it. I have a 45*F summer UQ and a 20*F spring/fall quilt. I would like to get into winter camping but dont want...
I had posted this same question on Reddit's hammocking section a few months back and was told just to suck it up and pay the tarrifs, so I did just that. On my $165 SS UQ from Wilderness Logics I...
It could have been splash back, that's something I considered. But I had the tarp pulled down pretty low and the rain wasn't really driving in from an angle. It was very damp that day, with all the...
I'm still new to the quilt thing, I took my new SS UQ out in August and it worked great but seemed to get damp during a day of heavy rain. I think this was just moisture in the air as the tarp...
Just wanted to say that I tried out my new quilts for a week of cold camping. The first night I just used the S biners to clip it on much like I did with my SS UQ and ended up freezing cold all...
I've found my down UQ gets damp after a long day of rain. As we all know, wet down loses it's ability to insulate, so having it be damp will mean being slightly less warm during the night. I'm too...
****, I ordered two quilts Thursday night :( Wish I had held off a day.
W/o seeing it, it's hard to say. But I had a similar issue with my Wilderness Logics UQ and solved it by getting two S-biners and clipping the suspension to that.
That's what I ended up doing, luckily my mini S-biners arrived the day before my 4 day solo. They worked perfectly.
They have shock cords, but there's nothing to hook the shock cords onto.

Went out on a stealth camping trip friday night to test out my new rig and found that attaching the UQ to my HH was an absolute challenge.
Everything I've seen has indicated that I should hook it...
Just got my SS UQ today, looks great. So small! I can't wait to try it :) Will be doing a test tomorrow to see if this UQ plus a thin fleece blanket will be enough to keep me warm on a summer night....
What model are they precisely? I'd definitely be interested but once I know which model it is I'd like to run down to the local retailer and try them on to make sure that size fits good (my one foot...
Makes sense... Well, I went ahead and ordered mine. Was hoping to get better confirmation before I did but my trip is sneaking up soon so I will have to do my own tests!
+1
Exactly what I do.
Or sometimes I fall asleep with the headlamp still on my head.
Any update Mwil3? Is it keeping you nice and toasty?
Thanks for the info (and video) Mwil3! I appreciate you taking the time and effort to do that.
But much like Owl I am concerned about that gap. Will you keep us updated on how that turns out?
I also had my first night's hang on Little Joe :) That was last summer though, and much like you it was a poor night's sleep (got too cold). I have the HH Expedition and yes the ridgeline is always...
You're awesome! Thank you :)
My only complain about WL is that the pics on their site are crappy quality and important pics like these are absent.
Now if only I could get someone to answer me...
I'm really debating getting some of the Wilderness Logistics quilts. A summer series and either a full or the 3/4 UQ for colder sleeping. One thing I haven't come across yet is pics of these things...
Heh, I did a very similar video recently. Was out testing my new whoopie slings and did a timelapse of me setting it up and tearing it down:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOBd4YICkkY
It's the side zip version, and they do have the site tie outs.
Well this is the Wilderness Logistics forum...
Been looking at both the full and the 3/4 and I quite like prices. Made a smaller order off Marty and asked about how well these fit on the Hennessy Hammock Expedition but he was unsure and suggested...
We were stealth camping, so I'd prefer not to disclose exactly where. Someone already found our camp and as a result now there are beer cans and empty propane cylindars scattered about. Had to pack...
Thx for the link, missed that one in my research.
So as per titanium_hiker's suggestion, I've spent half the night looking at different quilts and have narrowed it down to a few:
Warbonnet 3-Season Yeti ($190+30 ship)
HammockGear's 20*F Pheonix...
Yep, I don't expect it to be very cheap. I cheaped out on my sleeping bag years ago so now it's time to spend something on insulation. Between top and bottom quilts I expect to spend a few hundred....
I may be in as well, depending on when and where is it. I prefer canoeing over hiking (bad knees) but don't let me be the deciding factor :)
I'm in Niagara but would be willing to drive a reasonable distance for any sort of meetup. Don't get enough excuses to bust out the hammock :)
Beamsville eh? I'll actually be doing a test hang in the escarpment near you tonight. Trying to get a few kinks worked out with my insulation before I can embark on a trip to Algonquin.
That's another thing I'm torn on, 3/4 or full length? I think 3/4 would be enough for me as I wear double layer thermal socks when I sleep, and when I sleep at home I tend to stick my feet out from...
That's what I've been attempting, but it takes forever to get completely in and the best way was to climb out of the hammock, pull the sleeping bag around me then get back in. That only works with a...
Heh, yours slipped in while I was writing the other reply.
I'd have to pull it out and measure it. It's not an impressive pad, I think I got it on clearance for $2 at Zehrs of all places. It...
Unfortunately zipping it isn't much of an option. I fit in it fine on the ground but when I'm in the hammock I just can't seem to get it to zip up, it gets as far as much chest then I just leave the...
