Haha that must be it! I think the smell on mine will go away. Maybe it was just an old warehouse sort of smell, dunno.
I sort of liken it to that of a wet dog. It's fine though, not a big deal.
The only bummer for me is that I paid 45 and when I got the box it had a sticker on it that had been marked down to $30. So this must have been at a retail store somewhere for cheaper than online.
...
I sleep cold so for me probably 55-60. I just sent my 30 degree hg quilt in for more filling. :)
I got a blue one and it arrived today. I think it's actually pretty nice! Does have a bit of down "stink" to it but hopefully that will go away in time. I paid $45 and I think it's a good deal. ...
Quick follow up: I didn't get a chance to sleep overnight in it, but did have it set up for a couple days while camping. Thanks to the advice received, the under quilt seemed to fit much much...
I don't know the specifics of those Coleman replacement poles, but it seems like at 6mm diameter you are going to be adding a lot of weight if you replace the ones the Byer comes with. There's no...
I actually bought both the Whoopie Slings "all in one" system and almost immediately followed with the Dutch whoopie suspension with hooks. I've not yet used the former but I have used the latter. I...
Hello Moderator: Please close this thread as all items have been sold. Thank you.
They seem to be out of a lot of the more popular items. I've been waiting for a poncho tarp. They said they would be back in stock...at the end of last month. :/
Did you get a response to that?
Well it looks like I might have a chance to test out my new knowledge in the next couple days. We're going camping up in NH. I probably won't be spending the night in the hammock as I'll be with my...
Good luck. Just don't forget you have your credit card services at your disposal should the issue not be resolved with the vendor.
Last chance for the Mountainsmith Morrison 2 tent at $80 shipped.
Well, I'm just so happy to learn how wrong I'd been setting it up. And I'd thought I sorta knew what I was doing. I look forward to finally setting it up the right (or at least better) way when I...
Oh shoot, that's a strong argument as well! Now what am I going to do!!? :scared:
Well I just took the knot off the secondary suspension and hooked it back into the biner. It seems to play better with the line for the primary suspension now so I think that's how I'll leave it. ...
Thank you guys! First of all, I learned there is a primary and secondary suspension today. And now I know that the primary needs to clip into the biner, and the secondary should be loosened. ...
For anyone interested in the issue I'd been having with my UQ and XLC here is a new thread I started over in the HG section. ...
Hi all,
This might take a while to flesh out because of my workload, but this is going to be my thread for getting a good fit with my hammock and UQ. And unfortunately I don't have a place to...
Thanks hutzelbein, I'm going to have to start a new thread about fitting the UQ. I was even having problems with the cord slipping loose in the four corners when I would lay down, so it seemed...
Thanks so much for the kind words and support! I'd watched and re-watched that video by Shug, so when I went to set it up afterwards I thought I had a pretty good grasp of how to set up the quilt. ...
Good point. I've done quite enough of that lately it seems. If I ever went with the RR I'd have to trade in what I currently have for sure. But you're right, I need to learn how to set it up...
Good points all around. Spreadsheets for backpacking weights are all well and good, unless it doesn't work well when put to use. On my most recent trip I opted for a smaller hammock because I...
Interesting, thanks for the responses so far. I notice now that the double layer is only 2.5oz heavier than a single layer. That would make it almost a no brainer to go for the double layer then.
...
For reasons that I won't get into in this thread, I'm thinking my new Blackbird XLC might not be for me. The Ridgerunner is really appealing for it's perceived comfort and ease of use with the under...
Teton Backpack is SOLD to RedStix
Price drop $10 each. Tent $80, Backpack $50.
Hi all. I have the following 2 items:
Mountainsmith Morrison 2 Tent: Great tent, upgrading to something larger for camping with my wife. Used 10 nights or less, always on a platform. No holes,...
Cuben & carbon right? :)
Yeah but don't you still need a larger tarp if you want to keep dry? I only have the Edge now. But I suppose I should do my research or start a new thread about it. Believe me, I'll be thinking about...
Sweet!! If the weight was more comparable to a gathered end hammock I'd switch to a Ridgerunner in a heartbeat.
UPDATE:
Over this long weekend, my wife and I had a chance to go to Maine and rent a cottage on the water for a few days. What better opportunity than this to set up the hammocks and do some...
But if you're not concerned about weight just save a few bucks and use a regular carabiner for your hammock. The only reason I bought the Dutch clips was for weight saving. Tarp Flyzs, however, are...
For your tarp, I got the Edge too and attached tarp flyz directly to the rings on each end of the tarp. I got the idea from watching the video on the Warbonnet website. They work great.
Not sure...
Meh, I wrote them a couple days ago to see when they will be back in stock and I was told not till the end of September now. Looks like I might just be using a trash compactor bag and my raincoat for...
Incredible scenery! Thanks for the video. The only Tombstone I was familiar with till now was in Arizona. Vastly different. :)
I've been using the top quilt around the house, so it hasn't been in its stuff sack for a while. I've been amazed at how much that thing lofts up for being so light. I don't think the original...
Oh excellent, thanks!
Does anyone know how often the Golite Poncho's come back in stock? I want to get one for a trip coming up in about 6 weeks, but not sure if I should get my hopes up.
No one will believe you until you put up a picture of your fluffy new bundle of joy. :)
@Dutch, I have a couple questions on your pack cover. First, Is there any way you could make them in orange that would weigh about the same? I figure it'd be good in case of emergency and also...
I would never hate on companies like these, nor should any cottage vendor or supporter have any reason to. If someone told me to just take their word for it and drop $600 on a high end hammock sleep...
We had a cloudy muggy drizzly day here but we thought we'd at least go to the park for a bit and chill. Got the Edge set up in a jiffy and had a nice time. Love the tarp. Didn't need to set it too...
It's worth the wait, great stuff. (I could have made so many puns right there)
I think you're looking at 2-3 weeks. I got mine UQ and TQ last week and it was about 3 weeks.
That sure looks good!
Hey I grew up in Mesa!
I received my new top quilt last week, as you may have seen in the other thread I started showing the colors. I asked for a custom Burrow 30, long, with sewn footbox, that's what I got, and it's a...
