I use Dyneema for all sorts, ridge line, guy lines etc, but it's not hollow core so can't be spliced, they may do a hollow version but I'm unsure. if you want to splice amsteel is the way forward.

I bought a load myself on eBay and there were several sellers who all quoted polyester, nylon etc and some even quoted breaking strengths, may be worth looking there.
