I'm in Austin. Where are you jernigan76?
She's only 4.5, so still pretty short. :D That would be awesome! If I sent $20 would that likely cover shipping? My zip is 78728. We can PM out the details.
I am on my phone but will add my name to the spreadsheet tomorrow. Bringing a friend and the kidlet!
I also have an UQ for her, so a Hennessey with bottom entry would not work. :-/
I'm wanting to get a hammock for my daughter. I prefer an intergrated, zippered bug net as I think she will be able to manage it better. No camo or brown. I would put continuous loops on it for...
Er...east wooded area, I guess, based on the map?
I'm in! I'll be bringing my daughter and a friend for their first hang. I will also bring my tent just in case they don't take to hammocking...HAHAHAHA.
On the reservation page - should we book...
I made it home too. Thanks everyone for a great weekend! I'm looking forward to Goose Island!
I usually get questions based on curiosity. That said, recently a coworker asked me where I sleep when I go camping. I told her a hammock. Insert incredulous look. Then she asked me what do I do...
I *loved* your purple hammock!!
I have all but bought an DD Jungle after seeing yours and J's this weekend at the Texas Hang. I would get the double one to have the option for the pad. My only hesitation really is weight -...
This was my first group hang and I had a blast! I really enjoyed meeting all of you, swapping stories, and just having a great time. I can't wait until the next one - I don't know if that will be...
I just wanted to say that I have the same colored hammock, and I love it! Turquoise and purple together are my favorite color combination. :-)
Forgot to add - I make awesome cakes, and was thinking of making a hammock-themed cake to bring (half sheet size). Whaddy'all think?
I have been camping at several state parks lately. There are burn bans at most of them, but that usually is for backpackers looking to make a ground fire. Typically, using the designated fire rings...
I have been off the forums for a few months (lots of RL issues going on, *sigh*) but I'm super excited about the hang. Polkster and his wife will be sharing my site; any other available trees are...
I reserved a site! I'm in!
Depending on if they are water tight and/or food safe...
Small first aid supplies (bandaids, butterfly bandages, tweezers, medications)
Single serve electrolyte drink packets
I will take the 100 degrees we had in Big Bend over the 100+ degrees here in Austin. Dry heat is so much more tolerable than humidity!
I took the 3 y/o and a friend out to Big Bend this weekend - and she napped in her hammock! Yay! We have a few more camping trips planned. I'll be bringing the tent on those but also the hammocks....
Welcome from Texas! I was almost in El Paso this last weekend - we went to Big Bend. Took the scenic route along the river to come home!
Welcome from Wells Branch! Where in Austin are you?
I'll take one of the Yukon double hammocks.
Does the tent include the Yama tarp so that stakes are not needed or the guyline kit?
I was just out this weekend and there were all sorts of non-biting crawlies all over my netting. I'd rather it share with bugs inside no matter if they play nice or not. :-)
I was wondering this too.
Timely post - I just hopped in here to ask/find this exact question. Clarification from Jaxhiker - the bottom part cinches up enough when you are not in the hammock that flying bugs can't get in?
I love my ENO DN too. So cozy!
That is really nifty. It looks really comfortable, especially for those who aren't typically back sleepers.
56.4 ounces - that's way to heavy unless you are car camping or hanging in the backyard.
$60?!?! That is a freakin' STEAL for that gorgeous machine. Drooling over here.
(Nice projects too, btw!)
Awesome! I love the Halloween hang idea - and it is on a Friday this year too!
She. And no, I ordered 18. Have some other things to make, including a second bug net. :-)
I'm a girl who sews - I use the magnetic discs. So much easier.
That said, check out Etsy. Even if you can't find what you want, you can usually commission something from the vendors there.
I have tried both ways, and for whatever reason, I sleep with my head left and feet right. I'm left-handed if that means anything. I'm apparently in the minority for my sleeping direction based on...
I'm in. 18 yards of noseeum netting for the bug net and two yards of Tiffany blue ripstop for stuff sacks headed my way this week!
Congrats! What specs did you order for your Thunderbird?
I switched out my singlenest for a DN recently. I love the extra fabric, because I can get a better diagonal lay which is much more comfortable for me. I also find the extra fabric retains a little...
Hmm...I may hop on this bandwagon. I hade the ENO bug net but it is really dang heavy. I do like the full coverage though. I need to think about design before I commit though!
Ah, thanks! I had seen the book but was concerned about water availability. I didn't realize there were the two groups but I have bookmarked them for future usage. Thanks!
How is water access on the LSHT? My friend and I are considering doing it sometime this year.
Only part of Texas is flat - we have every kind of terrain here, it just depends on what floats your boat.
Regarding finding the right trees - trial and error, which means doing it more! :-)
Have fun! I was just in that area camping over the weekend. The pine forests are beautiful!
Ooooh. Easy and inexpensive to make. I may just have to do that as my backyard doesn't have trees in the right places.
I'd love to bring her. If I can get her sleeping in a hammock by then, I will. If not, however, I don't want to lug a tent to a hang when I could/should be in my hammock!
Love it! I want a purple tarp!!!
As a quilter - love it! The hybrid idea is fabulous. Great work.
Let's see...sleeping in the hammock AND avoiding in-laws for part of the trip? Seems like a win-win to me. :D
