I'm consolidating my gear to make room for a few new items. Please don't hesitate to PM me with any question or concerns. I'm happy to send more photos or measurements.
Please note:...
i'd say sell it, let someone else enjoy it, and free up some funds for the next 'must have' item!
love/hate relationship with inflatable pads. the moisture in my breath caused my valve to freeze shut last weekend. it was coooold.
UQ first, by all means. what a difference they make.
the columbia stuff always looks like a shiny vapor barrier more than anything else. anyone have experience with it?
good tips, thanks guys. i have some new ideas to try.
very cool, thank you!
there is something to be said for being able to afford 'the best'
other hobbies... this is out of the question. cars, for instance. maybe we're doing it right :shades:
sounds like a perfect setup (gear and family!)
you could market it as a stillsuit. could be huge.

quilt! all day any day!
the photo of all the exped suits is unreal! i'm amazed there are so many straight faces!
very cool. nice to get some real information instead of all the marketing hype.
much appreciated, thank you!!
i'm more and more tempted by this idea after watching a friend's very nice (read expensive) down jacket leak down everywhere last weekend. untimely snag on a hook... it was a down blizzard for the...
mountain hardwear does a great job with the closure on their stuff sacks. they feed the draw string through a small, rigid plastic o-ring that is sewn to the opening. that way the o-ring takes the...
will definitely check out the NEHHA, thanks!
jason--thanks for the tip! I've lurked for a while and spent a while in that thread. I'll do my best to contribute!
thanks, wncsar!
thanks, Freon!

thanks! I'll try to make it to the winter group hang!
the global reach of HF!
welcome to a great community!
But don't you miss the traffic, aggressive drivers, uptight attitudes, and lack of open space?!

You mean the better side of the state! Would love to trade the Boston sprawl for Western Mass!
drawings are a great sanity check, thanks!
too tempting!
gotta love staying warm and dry while listening to the rain on your tarp :)
thank you!
at the price... could be fun to experiment with. just don't suffocate.
the gears are turning! thanks for sharing.
Boston hangers: just a heads up to check out Harold Parker State Forest. The campground is empty this time of year and has some perfect hanging spots. So close to the city too! Great for a S24O.

hot water bottles can be a life saver. a good idea to factor them in.
vest over the footbox--brilliant!!!
yup, if anything you need to be more careful storing synthetic. compression/fluffing cycles will slowly break it down.
timely post--thanks!
some good info coming in at BPL
glad to know this works. still fearing the day...
sweet bivy. thanks for the link.
great ideas, thanks guys.
a thermometer that logs temp can be a huge help when testing gear.
thanks for the links!
bring a stove and plenty of fuel to make hot water bottles. Assuming you can stay dry, worst case is a sleepless night.
hope you've got enough stuffing :shades:
yuk yuk yuk
sorry.
seems like the worst of both worlds. condensation is always a concern with a bivy.
