I haven't had a problem with a nalgene leaking but if you are worried, you can put it in a ziploc bag for extra piece of mind.

I use hard Nalgene bottle with a fleece coozy.

I put my naglene in a fleece bag or a clean sock to help retain the heat. It is usually still warm in the morning.

You could, but it really only has a single use, is heavy and requires you to heat a lot of water. A 16 oz. nalgene only weighs 3 oz. and the 32 oz is 6 oz and you can drink from them too.

I just made a fleece cozy with shock cord at the top to fit my nalgene bottle. I had been just wrapping it with a piece of fleece, but this will work much better.
