Ultimately I realize this is somewhat unimportant. But I’m stuck on choosing colors and this community is great at solving all kinds of problems great and small!
I’m going to order a set of quilts...
Sold - will ship today. Mods can close/move please and thank you.

I’ll pay shipping for normal priority through USPS, we can negotiate if buyer wants faster/insured/Alaska etc. options

Haha! Yes circumference. Torso length I’m probably something like 22” as well

Yes — it’s a size large. I’m a 38-40 torso and 32” waist. It might be able to go smaller than me but particularly on the waist I wouldn’t recommend it. Torso might be ok a little smaller.

I selling my first hiking pack I bought in 2012. This model of REI Flash was reviewed favorably by Phillip over at Section Hiker here: and you can find standard details about the pack there. Phillip...
Does anyone here do trail running? Particularly in combination with (base camp) hammock camping?
I’ve recently realized that I might be able to combine these activities. There seems to be an...
If the LL is “overstuffed” by a good margin, how much does that really impact the temperature rating or comfort of the quilt? People may think there is value in it but my understanding was that so...
My kids seem to have trouble when they’re getting in and out of the hammock. I wouldn’t put my boys above me for that reason, it’s that much harder for me to help them into/out of it.

I used to vacation up into Gaylord area (winter and summer) and it’s a scenic area of the state for sure. The Upper Peninsula isn’t too far off from Gaylord to do some serious backpacking. It’s wild...
I am planning on trying out a 3/4 Length UQ soon. A UQP would be a decent insurance policy I suppose.
Kinda cuts into the weight savings of the 3/4 UQ. Do people do short UQs with the protector?...
Cinnamon Essential Oil. My wife sells oils and I know this is a common use for that oil.

I’m considering switching to a 3/4 UQ, wondering if anyone has a deal for something similar to HG Phoenix 20, Yeti 3 season, Greylock 3.
Let me know if you have anything you’re willing to sell!

I’ve been looking to meet up with some other hangers eventually.
This is extremely close to my house and I’ll definitely be joining one of these hangs at some point!
However, I’ll be on...
I’d recommend using the sleeping bag quilt-style. But I could be wrong. I was also exhausted and probably didn’t move around much that night.

For me the tie outs pretty much are only used when: 1. My hammock has a bug net and I’m going to lay in there longer than just to fall asleep. Makes it feel more open. And 2. When my kids are playing...
What hammock and top insulation are you using? Are you moving a lot in your sleep?
I used reflectix this weekend without much sliding around so I’m curious why one setup might work and another...
I'm heading down to Dolly Sods this evening, hiking close to 30 miles by the end of Sunday is the goal. Forecast has gone from "pretty good" to "not great" though, so my gear has shifted due to the...
I see this kind of talk a lot. My counter argument is that 5% permethrin is actually a prescribed treatment for scabies, lice, etc.
5% isn’t going to kill you or make you sick. I promise. Higher...
I actually weighed and included everything in my pack for a 3 day trip I’m doing next weekend. I’m at 12.7 lbs before food, fuel and water. I’m quite happy with what I’ve done to reduce weight on my...
Someone needs to tell them Gathered End hammocks don’t tip over! Far superior bear hammock setup IMO. Lol!

I now have a new goal for my life: watching the sunrise from a portaledge [emoji5]

Rather than measuring with a measuring tape, I think it would be simple enough to estimate distance with your suspension system. Make Sharpie tick marks on the whoopies, or some other way of turning...
I think I know some hunters who will be very interested in this technology Dutch...

Could you print this on the inside of the tarp? I could feel like I’m napping in the woods, but really just be in the backyard...

55’ hang challenge complete!!!

I’m not sure if you’re being serious or sarcastic, but I’m leaning towards sarcastic. Lol!
I’ll get around to it sometime in the next couple months and I’ll post a picture here though [emoji2]

I do have a post about 15’ from one of the trees. That’s where I usually do my backyard hanging.
But if I’m 10’ from either canopy the star viewing is going to be awesome! [emoji41]

I remember seeing pictures of Hennessy hammocks anchored to rocks that looked 50+ feet apart. I have a few questions if anybody here has done anything like that.

Tall anchor heights isn’t a problem in the backyard I’m planning for a ladder to make that part work.
I think a 25’ Amsteel dogbone should bridge the gap for me, though that’s another $10.

I’ve been throwing around the idea of spanning two trees in my back yard that are 55’ apart. Trying to sort out exactly how to make it work had me curious...what’s the longest/widest hang you’ve had?...
I’m looking to do a 3-day, up to 30-ish Mile backpacking trip in late April. Virginia is as far south as I’m willing to drive for this trip for time reasons. I’m open to ideas for specific...
There are also some people who really would love to just get out in the woods but can’t for various reasons. Then they’re bored and decide they still want to fiddle with a hammock. But maybe their...
That looks like CalTopo maybe, but Hillmap is another similar website I use for Topos. Very easy to use.

I am somewhat interested. I’ve been looking for a trip to do one of the last two weekends of April, depending on weather and other possible commitments.
I’m going to be honest I’ve never been to...
Maybe I should actually answer your questions. Lol!
Ok, I kept my sleeping bag because I knew I could have ground-dwellers hiking with me that don’t have good gear yet. I don’t mind investing in...
I got the EMS simmer down 25* bag (long) for $120 a couple years ago. I think it’s 750 fill. It’s rather heavy (40 oz?), and I’m good with my quilts now.
I’m not sure if I used a 20% off coupon on...
We can stop the internet, as I have now officially seen everything. Haha! This is fantastic!
I have no idea what material you should use, double layer would be something I would be thinking...
I will admit, my first outdoor hang, I wrapped my tree strap around my rather questionable 4x4 fence post at about 55” from the ground. I then wrapped the other strap just a little higher on a tree....
I’m perpetually amazed by wool. I have rather expensive synthetic winter gloves that are pathetic compared to my rather cheap pair of wool-only mittens.
Wool socks are my everything during...
Full length UQ? You should probably looking at 18-28oz, depending on exact temp rating and price range. $150(?)-$250 maybe.
Other UQ lengths I personally haven’t looked at much.
Tarp - I...
Also I vote for an UQP. I think it can really help keep wind from being a factor. I don’t own one though. I will probably make one myself before buying one, and that’s a next winter kind of project. ...
I think the concept of wearing less clothing is that both sides of the quilt are at atmospheric temperature when you enter the hammock. If you’re somewhat well-insulated when you get in, it can take...
XJ I will say, on something like a chillax, Eno, etc. getting that sag from the ridgeline is critical to a comfy hang.

I about lost it at work after a terrible meeting this morning. While I was “on lunch” today I made my first whoopie sling adjustable ridgeline. Nobody tell my boss lunch was extra long today lol

If it needs to be shorter...then I guess it’s time to learn how to splice lol

I checked the “is this for a Hennessy” option on Dutch’s site. But I think that’s really for the older models.
