Hey everyone,
I few months ago I ran across a thread that showed a different method of tying off the end of a hammock that uses a channel. Instead of just threading your line thru the channel...
I contacted A1 Fabrics today to find out if the 'Landau' they carry is type 2A (the flexible type). They said they had never heard of 2A before and said maybe someone told me that to confuse...
I agree that if you added the internal ridgeline then it'd be difficult/impossible to flip the hammock over and use the backside without the bugnet. I'm tossing around the idea of having a tiny hook...
Has anyone ever sewn another layer of ripstop to the bottom of one of these hammocks to make a double layer hammock? I have the ABES and would like add a pad sleeve to the bottom. Before I just...
I replaced the S-Hooks with rappel rings and am using webbing from Strapworks for my suspension.
Grizz added an internal ridgeline to his SBPro in this thread. I hope to be trying this soon since...
I didn't get the ropes either. I just took the rings off my other hammock, put them on the ABES, and used webbing to hang it.
It's going to take me a while to get used to this hammock. My DIY...
Thanks a lot for posting the measurements.
Maybe I'll be able to sleep tonight...have been worried the tarp would only be 8.5 x 8.5.
On the "ABES please advise" thread Alter ID says he received his kit today and it came with the ultralight hammock. I wonder why some would come with the Pro and others with the Ultralight....
I went ahead and ordered one. I didn't want them to sell out before I had a chance to get one. I will have to pay shipping back if I'm not happy with the dimensions because I don't live close to an...
I second this question. Would someone how has already received one of these from REI please take a few minutes to dig it out and take a couple measurements? We'd really appreciate it. Or if CHO...
Alright, I finally got to do an overnight hike and try the hammock for real instead of just in my backyard. It worked out great.
I made a new hammock about 11 ft long.
I used headchange4u's...
I check this walmart all the time. Luckily, around me, there are 3 walmart's that still have fabric but they are all being phased out. Pretty soon there won't be any fabric.
If you live around...
Hey everyone,
I found some fabric at my local walmart. I'm going to go pick it up tomorrow (didn't have enough money when I found it) if its still there, but I'd like to know what it is. I have...
Here's an update:
I used the foamy ear plugs described above and they worked great. I slept from about 11 pm to 4:30 am when I woke up cuz I was really cold. I was using a 60 degree bag and it...
I dont know if they're going to work yet or not, but I plan on using the soft, thick, foamy ones that you roll and pinch and smash with your fingers then slide them in your ear so they expand and...
Well then here's my plan of attack so to speak..
1. Change my whipping to HeadChange's style as opposed to the "experimental" asym style I found someplace else on here. Also use some ear plugs to...
How big of an effect would the ridgeline have on headchanges original design if I didnt have it in the whipping? Just curious, because right now (not using his design) my ridgeline is on the rappel...
I havent tried a longer hammock yet. I guess I could run out to wally world and see if they have any cheap fabric left and try to make a longer one. Its worth a shot.
My friend has an ENO...
Laying on my back diagonally on the hammock is ok. I dont have pain as long as something is under my knees and lower back. But even though it is comfortable, I'll eventually get restless and have...
Hey everyone,
I've been doing a lot of reading and researching the past couple months, trying to learn as much as I can about hammocks. I've made a couple hammocks so far, out of a ripstop...
