Hey welcome from Missouri. Those are some good ones the GT SBP is the only one I've used and I really enjoyed it till it had a freak accident.
That's a great idea, I'll have to break out the welder and see what I can do.
Here's a link to a few photos I posted. I've got more I'll try to load tomorrow.

I'm 5'9" in a 10.5' foot Hammock so I'm thinking that I'll make a 132" ridge line so that I'm over covered.
I second this mostly cause it's just genius.
I do have a it's a 5x7 but I tend to put the hammock at a horrible position to fit under the tarp.
I've been reading a lot on here and on a few other things and I'm leaning even more to a 10ft...
I don't it's usually just me way out in the woods alone. I've been getting a lot of blow by in the rain as it comes in from the side.
See that's what I'm thinking about I'm not sure if I want to go bigger I'm not completely happy with my 7ft ridgeline but I'm not at that sure if go all the way up to a 10ft so I'm asking the people...
Welcome I ain't been to Ft. Benning since Infantry Osut. I'd have loved to have a hammock back then during the middle of July.
So I've finished one tarp and it's fine but too small so now I'm looking at making another that's big enough for my and my tarp I was think that 5 yards of Sil-nylon from Ripstopbytheyard would be...
Hey Welcome Celly! I'm right down the road from you, Actually hiked and camped up by KC this weekend.
Most of my paddling is on the western side of the state and I'd be down for a frozen butt hang.
So sorry for Necroposting but I really don't want to start a new thread for random ideas that are thought in a hammock when we've already got thread for it.
Here it goes, So just a random thought...
It sounds mildly terrifying to me. I'm happy that I've never felt it.
Thanks I was curious cause I just fold it over, sew, fold sew and hoped for the best.
I'll chip in just PM me when you have enough people.
I was just in Irondale. If you find yourself hammock less in June let me know I'll have a hammock or three you can borrow.
Pm sent. Just let me know.
That's some dedication, I've to say that's a lot of work and a good idea. How well did it work? Any damage to your walls?
Yea, totally thank you so much for helping out. I made a 5x7foot tarp but hadn't thought of sizing first now I know that it's two small.
Do you mind if I ask for a photo of it? I'm having trouble with my hem because it's turned out slightly jagged and was gonna ask for advice as I nned it and it looked like you have hemmed it with...
My rei is climashield as well.
I'm in. Thanks guys
They're already going by the time I get to the hammock but for the first week or so it freaked me out. Once you get used to it, its calming in a fashion wouldn't you say?
Man, where I live and hang I've got a pack on both sides I think of the as duelling singers trying to but me to sleep with the crickets as back ups.
Usually mine just goes in a stuff sack and in my bag.
Did you do any kind of hem along the edge before using the binding tape? I'm working on a tarp so I'm curious.
So I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for so I'll post a thread. If this doesn't belong here can one of the mods move it?
I'm getting a feeling that I'm just an oddball in this...
Hey thanks for the welcome 2ply!
Grannypat I've been slowly reading through the DIY and articles since I got my email telling me I had been approved.
I'll try to make it out, mostly just cause I like hiking and I have yet to hike the OT. I'm aiming to hike it in August.
Nodust I also sleep in a hammock fulltime. I started hanging because someone sent me a hammock while I was overseas and I started using one when just trying to sleep for a few minutes that turned...
I'm a Romani guy and a Drill called me a gypsy and from then on so did everyone else and I spent my military career in the infantry.
I put in for Missouri seems to be a good chunk of us.
Hey man I'm new in Missouri as well and I also Kayak. I was curious if you and I are alter-egos of one another or just oddly similar?
I'm also now and I've got to say that I spent some time in the Carbondale area right when I got out the military it's a great little area y'alls got over there.
So I've been using a hammock give or take for a few years and just found this forum from Reddit. I'm gonna join here and gain all the info I can from y'alls. I just started using a tarp in the winter...
