Wasn't able to attend this year....sad times being a responsible parent.
A couple of years ago we went to the San Isabel Scout camp in Colorado. Very old school and traditional. Brought back fond...

From a few months ago with the wife.
Thanks for running point on this for us.
My payment is in.
I will monitor this as best I can today. Willing to order 10 more for the "greater good" if necessary.
Ok, not-so-smart user?
Thanks!
I tried to order 20; though I'm not sure since I'm trying this on my not-so-smart phone.
Been following this thread - wanted to go but work.....Then found out I'm off this weekend.....Wife decided we could go to Ouchita.
So, while I may be missing yet another Tx Hang; I shan't be green...
Some people pack 550 cord; I pack mule tape. Did you know it comes in different sizes & weight ratings (pull weight)? Love the stuff. Lots of people use it on their 4 wheeler winches.
Texas is definitely a hammock friendly state! Haven't made it down to Lone Star yet; I keep watching the group hangs hoping to make one....someday.
You've already been bitten by the hammock bug,...
Many fine hiking/hanging locations along the Ouchita. There are some little falls on the Arkansas side that should be nice in spring. Hmmm....that has me thinking
I've been up there a bit since I learned of it via OldGringo's posts. I've had good luck just calling the Rangers station to get up-dates and recommendations.
Hoping to do Horsethief Springs again...
I may try to tag-a-long; been trying to find some places out in my area...not much luck. Would love to hear about the place in Athens Rj mentioned. Will keep watching this thread..
My main hanging spots in the yard are either 11' 8" apart or about 16' apart. I keep playing with it.
I have the camper as well, and with playing with it (comparing to my WBBB), i have been leaving the ridgeline off until I am able to get/make a LONGER ridgeline. From everything I've read the...
Ok, since I'm new to whoopies, and I can't seem to find it elsewhere, what's a "MSH"?
I like the idea of the fixed end going on the knot, so I guess Dutch hooks are to be ordered tomorrow. Just...
Came home and found a box from TN in the mailbox!!!
Can't hang it until maybe Sunday, which will give me time to figure out how to use the Whoopies.
Thanks Brian!
I'm with Brownham, I do NEED another UQ; just having a hard time deciding which one to get. A sale....well, who here can resist a sale?
And now you know your next project......maybe not the whole garage; 4 posts 12 ft apart. Some 2x8's above (a pergola, or gazebo perhaps) then some metal roofing (doesn't have to be galvanized). You...
I have two of his tarps and will order another as soon as my BIAS arrives.
Brian is an Eagle Scout, engineering grad, and who knows what else. I'm sure the young mans plate is full.
I would...
Nice! Will have to look at adding some dutchware to the set-up your making for me!
I know Shug has shown us various ways to ENTER our hammoks; don't believe he has covered the EXIT yet.....
On a somewhat serious note, I grab hold of the side and ridgeline to to swing my legs out...
Guess I should check this part more often; guess it doesn't matter since I work Saturdays. Maybe next hang!
Will definitely look into making the hang, thanks for the heads up as I hadn't heard(read) anything.
Thanks!!
I couldn't resist, I had to order one. I exchanged a few emails today with Brian - sure seems to be a patient sort; my smart phone doesn't always make me look so - came home to use the computer, and...
Thank you for sharing the pic's, really good to get out there with the boys. Liked seeing some scouts wearing their sashes and not just draping them from their belts. Saw an OA sash or two as well,...
I received notice from Post Office on Thursday that I had a package waiting for me (rural areas have certain challenges). Scheduled for delivery today. Am hoping that its there when I get home from...
Is it too self-serving if I say, just keep cranking out quilts"?
I keep trying to make it to a group hang; but the Gods laugh whenever I try to make plans. Would've loved to make the OK hang, will watch for when the TX hang is planned.
The Cross Timbers is a...
Oh don't I and everyone on the job-site know that I GOTS mail today!!
The fellas already thought me deranged; now they insist I won't make it through my planned mid-life crisis.
Thanks, can't...
I am so envious! My UQ has been ordered (B-day present to self), and I am so patiently checking my emails on the quarter-hour to see if production has begun.
The process of choosing which UQ to...
I read these always hoping that someday....my schedule will allow to attend.
But, isn't Mothers Day the 2nd Sunday in May (13th)? If not, boy am I gonna be in trouble.
I'd be in for another order. If this happens please let me know.
Ever consider a patch? I imagine there are a number of us that has space available on our: packs, hats, etc.
I have found that I tended to have the RL too tight. So, I started playing with it as loose as possible and worked from there. There is a minimum distance for trees, the max is determined by how...
Yes hanging in Texas can make you sweat. Will be hoping that some pix of the mod's done to the liner are posted so that I can perform the highest form of flattery: COPYING.
I too teach IOLS. I am sure the coordinator is very grateful for your assistance. It appears you were very thorough, and I have read your post with great interest - we are conducting our next class...
Welcome aboard.

Add me to your list please. I would like a few of your "extra".
I was all set to hang in the storm too, radio man said, "60-70mph gusts, and hail possible ", so I chickened out. I've road out storms before; no reason to intentionally risk my (wifes) new Maccat.
Please don't let my daughter see this. She's 5, her #6 is rapidly approaching...but wait, that would also mean another tarp...
Nice vid, reminds us all why we get "out".
Congrats! Nice hang going there. I've been mentally masturbating which UQ to buy. Everytime I think I have it figured out.......I read more reviews and get all confused again. But, like you, I will...
Thanks. We have a "bottom heavy" troop. A new generation. Will share with them.
I do enjoy your videos. Sitting in Dr's office waiting room with 5yr old, she really likes your videos. Especially your "special bicycle with one wheel".
But, what are we to burn in our trangia's?
I am an ASM with the troop, CC with the pack, the SM, myself, and one other leader use our trangia's. Guess our G2SS is dated... (like me)
I am the...
New Ultra arrived today, had the extra panel pulls put in. I have it spread across the pool table right now, really nice work. Was supposed tobreak it in this weekend but work is interfering.
Guess...
Received my notice Sunday as well that my Ultra is on it's way. Had extra panels pulls put on this one, lots of options now!
Will use this as a "fall-back" in case can't make the Tx hang on the 2nd-3rd. Being a modern day Al Bundy makes it a challenge to coordinate everyone's schedule. Though the wife thinks this is a...
I'm more of a "reader" than "poster", (have learned a lot from the collective wisdom here) though I believe wife and I just may be interested in participating. Troop doesn't have any plans for that...
Glad to hear your break went well. Hope things are returning to normal for you; because that would mean you're working your way down your list to my new Ultra!
