Just bought it! Thanks for the recommendation!
Appreciate the answers. Yeah Hennessy are asym. I have several tarps Kelty, HG, McCat, etc. I just really liked taking that little 9x9 square in the summer on quick over nighters.
I have been through all the manufacturers websites and can't find one that still makes a 9x9ish diamond shape tarp. I love using these in the summer. Any recommendations? Maybe a recommendation who...
I was in this exact same situation! I needed a new tarp and saw the silpoly quest at HG. I ordered one blindly and have taken it out a few times. Its a little heavier than my MacCat but not much. It...
I am a musician. Was one of the first 50 at HF. Unfortunately, music takes up a ton of time!
I am going to put this on my calendar and try to make it. I haven't been to a hang in quite a few years. Never stopped hiking though. This is one of my favorite spots!
I am thinking about stopping by. I have been off the forums for a while, not out of a hammock, but am going to be doing some hiking this year and would like to meet some of the newer folks.
My big self will go ahead and purchase climbing biners at the same time I buy the hammock, like I have always done! Thanks for this info. Prob saved me a big butt bruise.
I like to hang without an UQ. Just went last weekend. Gotta admit daytime temps were hot. Still fun though. A little sweat never hurt me.
I'm gonna be there if I have to kick my own rear into gear. Haven't been to a hang in awhile.
I've done maintenance on the UT with the UTC and land trust and they have strict rules, especially...
I've been moderately using mine since 2005 and it is still in decent shape. I am a big guy too.
Welcome! That Eno double will serve you well. I have had the same double for many years and I am a big guy as well. Never even had a scare in my Eno with 7/64 amsteel.
Nothing like hanging in the hammock and reading a book after a solo hike!
I cannot believe I missed this. I just plain forgot. Macentyre even called and it still slipped my mind....
I love Eno products, but don't waste time or money on this UQ. I bought a New River UQ from Paul a few years ago and never looked back. You wont be disappointed. Have used it at least 100 times in...
I'm looking forward to this!!
Nice! Definitely gonna read that!
I don't think you'll have an issue at Morrow mountain.
Welcome from Moore county. Lot's of NC'ers here!
This is the statement of the century lol... I usually sleep pretty good in my hammock, but sleep great when I have hiked for miles and pretty much flop and sleep!
No running water at Yates either. There is water at Kings Mountain point and Arrowhead though.
Welcome back Risk. You dont know me probably, but I know your site from way back when I first started hammocking. Even before I joined HF circa 2006 I believe.
I've never had an issue in NC. Like Shug said, I try to get as far as possible away from authority anyhow.
Haven't seen you in awhile. Ill be there!
I wonder why I have never heard of this place.. Another location to add to the hammock list.
Nice vid. Never been up that far. Been to Stone Mountain though.
Love the BIrkheads! I hate i missed the last hang. Will def try to make this one.
Wished I could have made it. I haven't really been participating in the forums, or hanging since my wife has been working crazy shifts at her job. The good news is that she just started a steady...
I am planning on being there sat night. Will bring my own food. Has anyone talked to macentyre? Cant believe hes not making this one.
I'm going to try and make Saturday night at least. I will at least stop in and say hi!
I'm 80%. Hoping to make it!
I'll be there.
There was a HF hang at Yate's Place back in 2010. Worked out great. Plenty of room, parking, bathroom, and picnic tables. Also, it is located at the halfway point of the Uwharrie Trail with access...
Hello from Carolina. Don't give up, you'll get warm and never go back.
Picnic pie in the sky.
I just waited until my daughter couldn't her eyes open before i put her in the hammock. She'd sleep like a rock. IMO it's not the younger years that are the issue. Now that shes almost 7 she tosses...
I have been there on a few 3 day trips. I absolutely love that place. It's almost impossible to take a bad picture there! Thanks for sharing!
Welcome from NC! Not too far from you.
Nothing wrong with hanging in the yard! You are very close to the street! Can watch the traffic while you hang! Nice.
Darn it. I hate missing knives.
Loved this. Very nice!
That's a trip report video i'd like to see! Just kidding, glad you're not hurt.
How tall is your son? I usually add user's height + 1.5 feet on each end and then 6 inches for whipping and hems. If your son is 4 feet tall, I would make the hammock 7' 6" long. I usually just hem...
I wonder if he'll bring balloons and sing happy birthday to my wife?
Great day with family. It's funny seeing videos and pictures of each others kids and watching them grow from afar via HF. A wonderful thing.
Oh man I got lost in that vid. WV is one place that is truly beautiful. I stay in Clarksburg every year to attend a family reunion in Philipi. I always hate to leave. I am about to buy that CD with...
Not from GA but i'll say hey anyway! Welcome to the site!
Nice skills.
Nice. Thats' about how I looked the first time I had my suspension break years ago. It was an old dry rotted jungle hammock.
I had a few of those. One was especially large since I dropped my benchmade tip first into it! I just folded it over and sewed a seam over it. Have used it 5 or 10 times since then and no...
